Chapter 17: Chapter 17: The Person Found by the Ancestor Has Arrived
Jiangli was standing in the passageway of the main hall, watching them walk in.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw that little ghost in the courtyard. Upon seeing Xu Yang and Liu Rongrong, he immediately clung to them, still with a hint of bewilderment in his eyes, seemingly oblivious to who they were.
But the moment he neared them, he smiled and leapt joyfully, “Daddy, Mommy…”
As he approached Xu Yang and Liu Rongrong, he suddenly passed right through them, lunging at thin air.
The little ghost toppled to the ground, then quickly sat up. He seemed dazed from the fall, unaware of what had happened; he looked at his hands and then, as if realizing something, burst into tears with a loud wail.
But no one but Jiangli could hear his crying shouts.
...
“Husband…” As soon as Liu Rongrong entered, she suddenly felt a bit of discomfort, a chill over her body as if a gust of cold wind had blown past her. Just now, her heart had even ached for a moment, prompting her to grip Xu Yang’s arm tightly.
Xu Yang clasped her hand in return and whispered, “Is it because this place is so strange? I felt it the moment we walked in, everything here feels weird, and the things they say are odd too. Rongrong, maybe we should just go back.”
When Wang Xinjun went out of his way to visit their home and relayed his message, Xu Yang found it absurd and didn’t take it seriously at all.
But since their child had been missing for over two months, and after they had tried calling the police, posting missing person notices, and using various methods to search without success, Liu Rongrong, who had not yet recovered from the agony of losing her child, immediately agreed without a second thought when Wang Xinjun said there might be news about Shuaishuai.
To this point, Xu Yang still felt unsettled and did not believe what Wang Xinjun had said.
Upon hearing this, Liu Rongrong shook her head quickly, her gaze lost and desperate as she scanned the surroundings, “No, we can’t leave, husband, I—I feel it, Shuaishuai seems to be here, he must be here… ”
“That’s right, he is indeed here,” Xu Yang hadn’t even spoken when an emotionless female voice interjected.
The group looked up to see Jiangli approaching.
Xu Yang regarded her warily.
“Master!” As soon as Wang Xinjun saw Jiangli, he immediately started smiling obsequiously, “Master, you see, the people you were looking for, I brought them to you, it’s them!”
“You’re the master?” Xu Yang looked at Jiangli, dressed in her peculiar, old-fashioned garb, and young in age, only to be more convinced she was a fraud, he said irritably, “You think you can deceive us by ganging up together? Thinking you’ll become a TV show master just because you dressed up in ancient costume? What a joke! I must be crazy to believe anything you say! It’s a complete waste of time!”
Wang Xinjun and Xia Xin’s faces twitched at these words, feeling inexplicably as though Xu Yang was courting death.
Jiangli, however, showed no change in expression, as if she had heard such remarks many times before and didn’t care at all, “What I said is true, as Mr. Wang has mentioned, if you wish to see him, I can let you have a glance.”
Xu Yang frowned but was still skeptical. He was about to dismiss them and take Liu Rongrong away.
Liu Rongrong, however, grabbed Jiangli’s hand, tears brimming in her eyes, her voice filled with excitement, “Master, I believe you, I will believe whatever you say, just tell me where my child is, let me see him, I will give you anything you ask, as long as it’s within my power, even if it’s my life, I wouldn’t blink an eye!”
Xia Xin was taken aback, feeling somewhat guilty. Is this what parents are like?
“Rongrong…” Xu Yang’s face was stern, still feeling that Liu Rongrong was being irrational and wanting to interject.
Liu Rongrong seemed to anticipate what he was about to say, almost collapsing as she pleaded, “You, let me have one look, just one glance…”
What do you think?
