Chapter 57: Chapter 57: The Ancestor Confronts Embarrassment
Mr. Cao looked at the man in front of him, remembered what Jiangli had said to him before, and suddenly felt a wave of nausea.
The man was taken aback by his inexplicable words, “Dad, what’s wrong with you…”
“Where is Wang Lijuan?” Mr. Cao ground his teeth, patting the armrest of his wheelchair, “Let me in, I want to ask her what she has done!”
Xia Xin, hearing this, subconsciously pushed Mr. Cao inside.
The man stepped aside to make way.
Before he could react, he saw a girl outside, peeping around, looking in all directions.
He said in astonishment, “You, did you come with my dad?”
Jiangli snapped back to reality, oh-ed in acknowledgment, “Right.”
As her voice fell, she followed them inside.
The man, still confused, followed them in.
The room was decorated with lights and colorful streamers, and many balloons were blown up; it was clear that a celebration was being prepared.
As Xia Xin pushed Mr. Cao inside, a woman came out from the adjacent dining room.
It was a middle-aged woman wearing a beige long dress, her face expressionless and her demeanor ordinary; she also appeared to be somewhat older.
Upon seeing her, Jiangli realized that she was Mr. Cao’s wife, Wang Lijuan.
Wang Lijuan, seeing Mr. Cao return, was visibly shaken; obviously surprised to see him there, she asked instinctively, “You, how did you come back…”
“What, you don’t want to see me that much?” Mr. Cao snapped back furiously, “Or do you think you’d be happy only if I were dead by now!”
“Dad, what are you talking about?” Following behind Wang Lijuan, several others arrived, both old and young.
Hearing Mr. Cao’s words, a fifteen or sixteen-year-old girl couldn’t help stepping in front of Wang Lijuan, glaring at Mr. Cao with dissatisfaction, and pouting, “It was clearly dad who came back late, why are you being so fierce! If you’re like this, dad, I won’t like you anymore!”
This person was Mr. Cao’s youngest daughter, the child he usually adored the most, Cao Tingting.
In the past, Mr. Cao would have certainly made allowances upon hearing Cao Tingting say this, pretending nothing happened and soothing his daughter.
But today was different.
On hearing Cao Tingting say this, Mr. Cao glared at her fiercely, “Don’t call me dad, I don’t have a daughter like you!”
Cao Tingting was directly scared, frozen in place; after a second, she burst into loud crying.
But there was no compassion in Mr. Cao’s eyes, only hatred, “Get out of my way!”
“Dad, what’s gotten into you today?!” A teenager around eighteen or nineteen pulled Cao Tingting over, speaking impatiently, “Today is big brother’s engagement day; if you didn’t want to come, you could have stayed away. There was no need to come back just to ruin everyone’s mood!”
“I told you not to call me dad! You don’t even know which wild man your real father is!” Mr. Cao suddenly interrupted him, his face red and neck thick with anger as he fixed his gaze on Wang Lijuan, “You shameless woman, how dare you cuckold me! Tell me, when did you and Bi Yamin get together? Were the two of you conspiring to harm me?!”
Hearing this string of accusations from Mr. Cao, the Cao Family’s children were completely dumbfounded.
Wang Lijuan’s face turned pale with a tinge of green.
“What, what is this all about…” A girl standing by Wang Lijuan walked to the eldest son, Cao Jiadong, and asked bewilderedly, “Jiadong, what happened?”
Cao Jiadong looked at his girlfriend, Qin Yue, equally befuddled; he had no idea what had occurred.
Realizing that they seemed to need to address some issues, the parents of Qin Yue said awkwardly, “Maybe it would be better to postpone the engagement banquet for a couple of days, let’s talk in a few days. If you have other matters to deal with, we will head back first…”
What do you think?
