Chapter 183: Whiteswan?
"Is it?" Su Yubing withdrew, though her eyes remained smoldering. "Or is it merely inconvenient? To realize that whatever walls you’ve built, I’ve already scaled them?" She stepped back, allowing Mo Yuxin to escape the cage of her arms. "You can’t outrun the truth forever. Your body knows me. Your soul knows me. And one day…" She tucked the petal into Mo Yuxin’s sash, her fingers lingering. "...your heart will, too."
Mo Yuxin turned to face the window, gripping the sill until her knuckles whitened. The cool air did nothing to soothe the fire in her veins. Behind her, Su Yubing settled back onto the couch with a sigh, the Hongmen order’s glow reflecting in her satisfied smile.
"The trial is reaching its verdict, by the way," she said casually, as if the last few minutes hadn’t occurred. "Jiang Sang’s servants have confessed to stealing the spirit stones. How… predictable."
Mo Yuxin didn’t reply. Her mind was a tempest, torn between fury and a treacherous, aching curiosity. What had they been to each other? The question clawed at her, dangerous and unbidden. She would not ask. She would not give Su Yubing the power of that answer.
Yet when Su Yubing patted the couch beside her and said, "Come, Yuxin. The best part is yet to come," Mo Yuxin found herself obeying, drawn back to her side like a moth to a flame.
And if Su Yubing’s fingers "accidentally" brushed hers as she handed her the Hongmen order—if her thigh pressed close enough to radiate heat through their robes—Mo Yuxin said nothing.
A very strange yet not so awkward silence permeated between the two of them.
But the silence seemed particularly harmonious and heartwarming mixed with the faintly audible heartbeat of the two people, the whole surroundings seemed to ooze out a sweet and calming aroma.
Suddenly, Mo Yuxin’s calm and clear voice floated into Su Yubing’s ears,
"So, did they really steal the spirit stones? And are you reason behind the matter spreading to the punishment hall?"
"Hmm?" Su Yubing was a little dazed. The familiar voice, though slightly colder and alienated than she remembered seemed to come from a very far place, pulling her out of the whirpool of the past.
She blocked at Mo Yuxin with her deep pheonix eyes and said flatly,
"Does it matter whether it was stolen or not? Besides, even though she was an elder who did nothing for the sect but still demanded that huge sum of money and contributed not a single ounce to the sect. All those money for all these years, she has spent it all on herself or maybe for some purpose. On one hand, the sect which gave her a home and protection kept getting poorer yet she still kept taking all those money unfairly. Besides, she has even used the name of the grandmaster and many times demanded almost the double of the amount that grandmaster stipulated for her. If it isn’t stealing, then what is?"
Mo Yuxin was silent for a few seconds before asking,
"Do you have some sort of grudge against her for you to do this?" Find more to read at NovelBin.Côm
Su Yubing shook her head. She raised her eyes and looked at Mo Yuxin with a smile, picked up a thin plum petal with her fingers, rubbed it gently before placing it on Mo Yuxin’s lips with a little mischievousness in her eyes. Mo Yuxin unconsciously trembled from the touch on her lips but she didn’t shake her away and just turned her head slightly to the side,
"Hmmph.. who told her spend my daughter’s property and money so easily? If she makes the sect go bankrupt, wouldn’t that mean that my daughter will have to bear the burden of restoring the sect in the future? As her mother, before she inherits the sect, I have remove all the dirt and corruptions from here to pave a smooth path for her. How is it? Am I not the best mother in the world?"
Mo Yuxin was a little amused by her words and said slowly,
"Even if Luwuqi inherits the position of the sect master, it’s still too early. After master, I will still have to be the sect master for at least 300 years before I can abdicate my position to her."
Su Yubing listened to her words before saying with a smile on her lips,
"Then it seems that she will have to grow stronger and challenge you to a duel for the position of the sect master. Or, maybe, How about you give up your position and I can let you touch ....."
Mo Yuxin immediately placed her hand on Su Yubing’s lips for fear of hearing the next part of the bold sentence that she was about to say.
There was a soft and teasing smile in Su Yubing’s eyes and Mo Yuxin felt burned by her gaze as well as what she was just about to say.
Mo Yuxin pretended to make her expression turn cold as she stared at Su Yubing with a not so oppressive gaze and said,
"Fine. If she can defeat me, then the sect master position will be handed over to her."
Su Yubing suddenly smiled happily after hearing her words and suddenly changed the subject by saying,
"You know about the whiteswan spirit beast? After the battle of Wuhuan, Jian Sang captured a little snowbird in secret and kept it with her for some purpose. Later, grandmaster at that time ordered her to release the bird and Jiang Sang readily agreed. But afterwards, for some reason, the bird actually disappeared from the sect and was never seen again no matter how much everyone searched. Grandmaster thought that Jiang Sang tricked her but after she borrowed the power of heaven, it was found out that Jiang Sang really didn’t have the spirit beast with her. Jiang Sang herself was frantically looking for it for a long time but the beast was never found. After enough time, the matter was forgotten and people gradually forgot about the existence of the whiteswan spirit beast."
Mo Yuxin patiently listened to her words and she also remembered the pieces of memories of that time.
But she didn’t know how Su Yubing knew all these and suddenly asked,
"How do you.."
Su Yubing : "Master told me."
Mo Yuxin nodded slightly but she didn’t notice the dark light that flashed in Su Yubing’s eyes.
The spirit beasts are one of the many species of the demon world and after the agreement between the demon kin and human kin, it was stipulated that human monks are not allowed to capture any spirit beasts from the demon world anymore.
And after the battle of Wuhuan, the relationship between human world and demon world had already thinned to the point of being maintained by only a single piece of paper.
If the matter of human monks, especially a monk of Cangran keeping a spirit beats spread to the demon world, it would be wonder if another war doesn’t break out.
The battle of Wuhuan was a painful history which must not be repeated at all cost.
Mo Yuxin immediately made up her mind on the spot that the matter of the whiteswan must be handled properly as well as the matter of Jiang Sang.
Su Yubing smiled slightly at the corner of her lips as she looked at Mo Yuxin who was deep in thought.
The seed of doubt has been planted as expected. Now Su Yubing just had to wait for the results to show her the next course of action.
Su Yubing looked outside the window, the wind blew gently and the leaves fluttered ever so slightly. The bright rays of sun seemed to give birth to a new hope in her cold and broken heart as well as the presence of her most beloved person.
Mo Yuxin touch and scent at the moment gave Su Yubing a newfound strength as usually casual eyes turned full of determination at the moment.
She thought in her heart as she gazed at the distant sky, but her gaze seemed to penetrate the very space and time and even reality itself as she felt the terrifying presence of that.
But she didn’t loose her calm and just thought,
"This time, this time.... I will succeed. No. We will succeed."

The next day, Mo Yuxin went to Bai Xuzhen and fortunately, this time she didn’t have to pollute her eyes by seeing the intimate scene between Bai Xuzhen and Xu Xian.
Mo Yuxin asked Bai Xuzhen whether she knew about the identity of the person Jiang Sang was seen with and Bai Xuzhen who has intensive information network in and outside of the sect immediately said everything she knew,
"Well, That man must have been the eldest son of the Hua family, Hua Ping. Jiang Sang did seem to have some dealings with him as they were seen together once in a while. Though, the purpose of their meeting was unknown. "
After saying this, Bai Xuzhen’s momentary seriousness immediately turned into curiousity as she asked,
"Second senior sister? Was senior Su Behind the matter of Bailin peak and Jiang Sang having to receive a summon from the punishment hall?"
Mo Yuxin said frankly,
"They stole the property of the sect, they deserve punishment."
Bai Xuzhen smiled but didn’t say anything. After all with Mo Yuxin’s personality, previously, she definitely would have just let Jiang Sang be for the sake of Grandmaster’s words but now with the influence of Su Yubing, she has begun to break apart from her previous stiff and one sided personality. It could be said to be a good thing.
