Chapter 02 Blooming Shadows
Lea had never believed in fairytales, yet her life had begun to resemble one.
Weekends spent together turned into cherished traditions, and before she knew it, two years had already passed.
One Saturday, he took Lea on a date. It was a beautiful place, the sun was shining on Lea's face. He knelt, took out a ring, and proposed.
"When I first saw you at the flower shop, I fell for you. Those gorgeous gray eyes, your sweet smile, your kindness… you stole my heart. Would you... consider marrying me?"
Initially, her eyes widened, then a smile graced her lips as she nodded in agreement.
[Months later]
Their wedding was neither big nor small, but beautiful, bathed in the golden glow of a setting sun. As they exchanged vows, she thought she had found her happiness forever.
After the wedding, they moved into his mansion—a grand estate hidden away from prying eyes. It was a world of luxury and secrecy, a place where love and danger existed. Lea knew the truth. She had known from the start that her husband was a part of the mafia. And yet, she had never cared. As long as he was safe, as long as he was by her side, the rest of the world didn’t matter.
One week after they moved in, his birthday arrived.
"We should celebrate on a yacht," he had suggested, a rare sparkle of excitement in his voice.
The gentle waves rocked the boat as the celebration unfolded. The night air carried the scent of the ocean, mingling with the sweetness of the cake.
"Happy Birthday!" Lea said brightly, holding up a glass.
Her husband smiled, a shy but tender expression that made her heart ache in the best way.
"Thank you," he murmured.
She cut a piece of cake and fed him a bite before clapping her hands together.
"Wait! Let me grab your gift. I know how much you love roses." she said.
"You didn’t have to buy me anything." he chuckled, his fingers grazing the back of her hand. "You are already a gift to me."
Lea laughed.
His lips brushed over her hand in a soft kiss. "Wait here," she said. "I’ll be right back."
She made her way to their bedroom, picking up the small, carefully wrapped box adorned with delicate roses. Holding it close, she let out a quiet sigh.
"Mom… I finally found my happiness."
Just as she turned to leave, a noise made her freeze.
Footsteps. Then—
Gunshots.
Her breath hitched. Panic surged through her veins. Without thinking, she slipped into the closet, her heartbeat drumming against her ribs.
Silence followed.
A silence far too empty.
When she finally gathered the courage to step out, she saw him...
Her husband lay motionless.
The gift tumbled from her fingers.
A scream tore from her throat as she collapsed beside him, shaking him, begging him to wake up.
Tears blurred her vision.
But when she lifted her head, something else burned in her gaze.
Rage.
A promise formed on her lips, quiet yet deadly.
"For him… and for me... I’ll bring them down."
