Mech: Shattering of the Galaxy

Chapter 354: 129 Hunting Tiger Retreat

Chapter 354: Chapter 129 Hunting Tiger Retreat

Although White Hair’s mouth was frothing more and more, the pile of corpses twenty meters in front of them was also growing.

Mu Fan even saw several rows of Beetles that had just rushed up the slope and hadn’t yet managed to jump before they were precisely detonated; their bodies rolled down the slope.

When he looked at White Hair again, there were only two movements: his right index finger was pressed on the trigger without letting go, and after the magazine was emptied, his left hand instantly slipped in a new one.

All of these actions flowed like clouds and water, which reflected in his retinas as White Hair merely firing casually into the distance and creating swathes of death.

Was this… White Hair’s true level?

“How could White Hair possibly reach a robot’s shooting precision!?” Even Black expressed amazement.

This situation, in its cognition, was impossible among humans.

Mu Fan also wanted to say so, but the fact was already starkly laid out before him.

Mu Fan had adjusted his breathing and was ready to fight again, but after a full minute, his eyes were glued to the sight.

White Hair’s finger had not moved from the trigger at all!

Now his solo firepower was comparable to, even stronger than, the whole team they had encountered last time.

Da da da da da… da!

The last gunshot ended, and in Mu Fan’s field of vision, there were no more Zeg.

The first batch of Zeg to arrive had all been wiped out by his own teammate?

The insect swarm’s offensive had been left with a gap?!

Mu Fan felt deep respect; he had always admired masters who kept their skills hidden!

The froth at White Hair’s mouth had now dripped to the ground, but he still stood there, silent and cold.

The orange projection screen retracted back into the eyepiece with a buzz.

Mu Fan patted White Hair’s shoulder, ready to offer praise, when he finally heard his teammate say,

“Miscalculation… Next time, just need to lower the electrical intensity…”

As those words fell, Mu Fan felt White Hair’s body go limp before collapsing to the ground.

Mu Fan caught the falling body, pulled up the orange eyepiece, and saw White Hair’s eyes beginning to roll back, his mouth frothing with occasional bubbles.

“This is neural disruption; he’ll be fine after some rest. The second batch of Zeg is coming out of that ventilation hole in the Insect Nest; I suggest you run,” Black, having seen something through the monitor Mu Fan and his team had previously placed, immediately warned him.

He slung the now semi-paralyzed White Hair over his shoulder and finally reached the top of the opposite slope, bypassing the corroded poison area.

At that moment, a rustling sound drifted faintly through the air. Mu Fan glanced over and saw another black wave of Zeg approaching.

Inhaling sharply, Mu Fan’s legs powered to full speed.

Without the Exoskeleton Armor to face these seemingly infinite Zeg, Mu Fan had no intention of foolishly grappling with these creatures.

If he were to be trapped, he’d probably last a minute at most before being engulfed by these insects.

“Close silent communication,” he ordered Black; now he had time to call Luo Jianjin for help.

“Mu Fan kid, are you trying to die?”

“Only now turning on the communication channel!”

“We’re 500 meters away.”

The last line was Wolf performing a data check.

“What’s the situation?” finally, Luo Jianjin spoke.

Trees and vines from the jungle whipped past on both sides of his vision; as Mu Fan spoke, his voice was carried on the heavy wind: “Our exoskeleton energy is depleted, and there is a large swarm of Zeg behind us; too many to count!”

“Too many to count? What hornet’s nest did you poke! Hang in there, we’re almost there.”

“No, Captain, I suggest… we run first.”

As Mu Fan finished speaking, he finally saw members of the Tiger Hunting Team rushing through the sturdy branches of giant trees!

Luo Jianjin, Wolf, Tracy, with no sight of Deer—probably staying by the Spider Car.

Their strength was truly formidable, but turning his head back once more, the wave upon wave of rustling Zeg pushing forward seemed endless.

Mu Fan stepped on the branches, carrying White Hair and leapt into the air, shouting breathlessly, “Captain, we’re here!”

With every leap spanning five or six meters, Luo Jianjin suddenly looked up, following the sound’s direction and directly saw Mu Fan in midair.

Virtually soaked as if in a green liquid, Mu Fan had a sticky, semi-transparent coating—as though he just crawled out of the belly of a giant Zeg.

With someone on his shoulder… What happened to Yin Shuai?

He didn’t notice Tracy’s strange look beside him. As an excellent sniper, Tracy had immediately noticed the string of shiny… foam following Mu Fan.

Was White Hair poisoned?

“Prepare for battle!” Luo Jianjin ordered. Tracy used her grappling hooks to swiftly climb a nearby giant tree, while Wolf, clad in Combat Light Armor, pulled out an explosive crossbow from his back and rolled away, disappearing into the bushes.

Seeing the instant battle readiness of the three Tiger Hunting Team members warmed Mu Fan’s heart.

“There are Zeg Clan pursuers coming from the insect nest behind me, too many to count.”

“Rejoin the squad first!” the Bearded man’s voice was firm.

“Okay.”

Mu Fan responded, landing and then bouncing gracefully until he finally arrived beside Luo Jianjin.

“Is the kid, Yin Shuai, all right?”

“He’s fine, should be temporary neural disarray.”

“That’s good… I…” Luo Jianjin had barely returned the words when he finally saw the first wave of Zeg Clan members appearing.

“… Damn!”

He finally cursed vehemently.

“How are there so many Zeg! There are even more behind; boss, we need to retreat!” Wolf’s alarmed shout transmitted through the comms channel, and Mu Fan still hadn’t seen his figure.

“Little brother, what kind of mess did you stir up?” Tracy’s breathing grew rapid, but her tone wasn’t accusatory; it was filled with teasing jest.

Within their line of sight, with the first wave of Zeg like an insect tide spanning across a hundred meters wide, more and more jointed limbs surged forward, their terrifying rustling sounds almost engulfing the entire land.

This sight made the battle-hardened members of the Tiger Hunting Team’s skin crawl, and now they finally understood what Mu Fan meant by running.

“Cut them off! I’ll carry the two kids; we retreat to the Spider Car. Deer, you have five minutes to lay mines! Whether we can truly escape this time depends on you!”

“Roger that, boss.” Finally, Deer’s excited voice came through the channel, eager to put his beloved toys to good use.

Luo Jianjin’s hands shook, and Mu Fan saw a dark cannon barrel appear under his left arm—a portable solo Howitzer.

“Fire support for 30 seconds, once we break their attack line, retreat immediately!”

Boom, boom, the howitzer launched several shells in an arc, blasting a group of Beetles away.

And from an unknown location, several arrows shot out and upon hitting the swarm, caused explosions on a scale comparable to the howitzers.

Amidst the fierce gunshots, a few continuous, deep, and powerful shots rang out. Mu Fan directly saw a freezing zone appear among the distant swarm!

Frozen bullets?

It had to be said, the firepower of the three Tiger Hunting Team members was astounding, and the Zeg Clan’s second wave of attack was clearly disoriented by their sudden assault.

“Time’s up, let’s go!”

Despite the brief victory, a faint sense of crisis arose.

Luo Jianjin roared furiously, turned around, and snatched White Hair from Mu Fan’s shoulder, placing him on his own and prepared to grab Mu Fan.

“Captain, I’m fine!”

Watching White Hair being secured by Luo Jianjin’s mechanical arm, Mu Fan declined the offer to be carried.

Bending his legs, he then launched himself forward.

PS: I recommend a book by my friend, “Plane Elevator”, currently being prominently featured on the homepage. It’s a story about unlimited trans-dimensional travel, a really exciting tale! But what I want to say is, given that he blackened my reputation just like Xin Feng, calling me old in the big machine, I suggest readers with knives might want to visit his comments section and give him a ‘warm’ welcome… Thanks in advance!
