Chapter 4545 Unknown origin
"Young Master," Seventeen said, a hint of worry in his voice as he drove, "We've beaten up someone today. I fear they won't let it go. Should we lay low for a while?"
"We only acted in self-defense," Hao'er replied, his gaze hardening. "Why should we fear their retaliation?" He recalled the insults and the violent attack. "Breaking his hand was a sufficient lesson. If he persists, another confrontation won't deter me. My parents taught me to avoid trouble, but never to back down. If someone bullies you, settle the score. If you can't win, escape."
He had assessed the situation before making a move. People of the Floating Edge Immortal Island weren't generally powerful. His skills were sufficient for most threats. And if not, Silver Wolf would protect them. He wasn't afraid.
Seventeen remained silent. At the dessert shop, they found a table. Hao'er's gaze flickered. Without moving his head, he scanned a section of the street and scoffed lightly.
Someone was following them.
Who was it? The man who had been beaten by them back at Rejuvenating Hall? Or someone else?
He pondered, his expression unmoved. After finishing their desserts, they returned to the courtyard they had rented. As they entered, Hao'er sensed their pursuer retreating.
Back at Rejuvenating Hall, in the attic, an informant delivered his report. "They entered the courtyard, and I inquired about them. Three children and a guard, recent arrivals. They rarely leave, and the guard fetches their meals. No one knows their origins."
The man drinking tea waved his hand, dismissing the guard.
Another guard arrived. "Master, the injured man is Yang family's Second Young Master. They're investigating the children's background, but have made no other moves."
"You may retreat," the man said, swirling his tea.
"What do you think?" he asked an elderly man who emerged.
"Master, the guard's and the twins' strength are negligible, but their spirit energy is remarkably pure. The teenager's skill is exceptional, he concealed his energy very well. I can't gauge his level."
The man's expression shifted. "They possess an air of nobility, especially the older boy, with his domineering presence. No ordinary family could raise such children."
He paused. "I know the prominent families here, and few have children comparable to them. They must be from another region."
The old man hesitated. "If they're noble, why such a weak bodyguard? And no hidden protectors on the first floor? The report of only three children and a guard is unusual."
What do you think?
