After class, students walked down the immensely wide steps of the seven-tiered tower, and outside the towering columns, they could see the azure sky, with occasional birds plunging from the heights, darting through the seven tiers and the school buildings below.

White birds flitted by; these passing birds resembled a necklace of white pearls threading through the majestic structure, a decoration that seemed especially beautiful against the verdant mountainous backdrop.

Tilan and Mel held their books as they descended, gazing at the fleeting and beautiful scenery.

"Spring has arrived," Mel murmured softly.

"It's a pity that only here in the northern districts can you see such lush greenery." Something came to her mind.

"Tilan, do you know about giant corporations?"

"I know some, they are said to be companies with various unique technologies or particularly strong influences."

"That's true, but not many people understand the true power of giant corporations." Mel shook her head, her deep purple hair tied in a bun behind her head, hanging on one side of her body.

"If we want to change the climate and the acid rain problems of Emerald Skirt, it's not necessarily impossible." She suddenly spoke of the long-standing pain of the north.

"In the distant Northern Dark Star Domain, there lives a special starry sea behemoth called the Cloud-Devourer, a special creature of the Tidal Sequence 8. It is said to be a descendant of the ancient Cloud-Cleaver Beast, capable of tearing through space and shuttle between heaven and earth, swallowing whole seas of clouds." Mel stopped walking.

"Such behemoths live year-round around gaseous planets, devouring the inexhaustible combustible atmosphere and often diving into the interiors of those gaseous planets, making it difficult for outsiders to observe and capture them."

"However, even such powerful and massive creatures have been approached by people trying to communicate with them, looking for the opportunity to cooperate."

"'Wind Whale Courtyard,' not only a place to nurture transcendent life but also the name of a giant corporation."

"Our academy's precursor, the 'Yuanting Courtyard,' originated from one of its branches, but the two have been separated for almost 700 years now."

"Piloting the Cloud-Devouring Wind Whales that shuttle through the starry sea, the ancestors of the 'Yuanting Courtyard' traversed several Star Domains, seeking a place to establish their courtyard. Many years of tedious whaling life made them long for a more colorful and vibrant world."

"So they came across the Emerald Skirt planet, which was still in the throes of arduous cultivation at the time. The Emerald Skirt was then a barren wasteland, with thin atmosphere, only the magnificent purple ocean captivating the attention of passing travelers."

"In the solar spectrum, green photons carry the highest energy, and after absorbing and utilizing this portion of photons, the reflected light lacks green, giving it a purplish appearance."

"The purple algae pervading the ocean absorbed the energy from the sunshine, and then they decomposed water to produce oxygen and precipitated sulfides from the atmosphere and iron from the seawater."

"Although this was capable of transforming the planetary environment, the instability of the planet's core at the time caused volcanoes to erupt in succession, sending a huge amount of toxic substances into the atmosphere, overwhelming the ocean's ability to purify. A large number of algae began to die. If not dealt with promptly, it was feared that the planet's terraforming project would be set back by hundreds of years. At that point, the committee for planetary terraforming was already running low on funds."

"So, the committee of that time sought help from the wandering ancestors of the 'Yuanting Courtyard,' who finally agreed to assist, in return for a promise of a planet full of life and vibrancy."

"The cloud-eating wind whales swam, devouring vast amounts of toxic gases and digesting them, which greatly mitigated the damage to the ocean's algae, but as a consequence, these wind whales would die in succession over the following decades."

"Later, the successful transformation of Emerald Skirt Planet finally materialized, and a large amount of oxygen formed a protective ozone layer, allowing vegetation to grow on the ground. As plants that improved the soil fell in batches, the once barren planet began to display a variety of vibrant colors and gradually filled with life."

"The committee fulfilled their promise; they gave a vast tract of land in the northern region of the planet to the ancestors of Wind Whale Courtyard to establish their new homeland and courtyards, thus ending their centuries of wandering."

"So, the true 'Wind Whale Courtyard' was established. Although there were no longer cloud-eating wind whales, they nurtured various birds skilled in flight and cultivated Silver Scale fish that could navigate the skies, these transcendent creatures carried the minute genes of the cloud-eating wind whales."

"Heading towards a colorful world, Wind Whale Courtyard eventually bred Tidal Sequence 8 Oracles of Yuanting, the fish of the sea finally transformed into birds of the air, and this also heralded their parting of ways with the once 'Wind Whale Courtyard.'"

"But alas, the good times did not last forever. As a newly cultivated planet back then, Four-leaf Crystal Star Domain was found to harbor numerous rare minerals and had an abundance of usable water resources, making it an ideal location for industrial production."

"Due to these conditions, during the war, Four-leaf Crystal Star Domain received a massive influx of resources and personnel. The newly established planet experienced rapid development, with countless skyscrapers shooting up from the ground, and residents made rich by the emerging industries built various grand landmarks to mark these moments reaching the pinnacle."

"As for what happened afterward, I'm sure everyone knows."

"Acid rain poured down, a vast number of plants on the surface died, buildings corroded and collapsed, and Wind Whale Courtyard, once at the height of its glory, gradually fell into ruin. Now, only our small academy remains, barely clinging to life."

Having finished speaking, Mel sighed and cuddled the cat in her arms.

"Actually, my ancestors are descendants of Wind Whale Courtyard, which is why I know so much."

"If there's a solution, then why not seek help from 'Wind Whale Courtyard'?" the young girl asked, puzzled.

"That's impossible, and we can't do it," Mel shook her head.

"Firstly, it's too far away. The massive sizes of the cloud-eating wind whales can't be accommodated on a starship, and even though they have the ability to travel faster than light, it would still take hundreds of years for them to travel south from the distant Northern Xuan Star Domain."

"Moreover, the parting of ways with our ancestors had a component of pride, so the relationship isn't that good. Also, if we were to reverse the climate of the Emerald Skirt, it would likely require sacrificing many cloud-eating wind whales, which is something we cannot bring ourselves to ask."

"So sometimes, it's very sad to think that if our ancestors hadn't chosen to settle on this planet, there might have been a different future. Or maybe if the internal war hadn't erupted and Four-leaf Crystal Star Domain had developed normally, Wind Whale Courtyard could have flourished. With time, an array of Tidal Sequence 8 Oracles of Yuanting might have been able to change the environment."

"Such is the vagary of the times; sometimes even when you know the right answer, you're still left powerless."

"Alright, let's not talk about this anymore. Hexia, do you want to come over to my place? My grandmother has always wanted to meet you," Mel said.

"Your grandmother?" the girl asked curiously.

"Yes, she's one of the directors of the academy, so she knows about you. I've talked to her a lot about our time here at the academy, and she seems to like you very much."

"Meet her? Well, I might be quite busy recently. Let's wait a little while. After this training trip, I'll come to visit."

"You promise, Hexia," Mel stretched out her finger.

"I promise," the girl smiled and hooked her finger around Mel's, making a pact.
