Chapter 699: Chapter 699: Seize
Li Yao was quite surprised at the recent changes in The Eye of the Creator. After some thought, he attributed it to the matter of God, or perhaps it was the use of archangel equipment that provoked the evolution of The Eye of the Creator.
But whatever the reason, Li Yao was testing, adapting and exploring new features.
Although he received many surprises, this time the surprise was a bit too overwhelming.
Having been reborn once, there was no question about Li Yao’s skill level.
When it came to defeating the boss, there were only two methods if it wasn’t in single-player mode. The first was to determine the enemy’s balance point and then topple them with a specific amount of force, as he had just done.
This method, however, had its limitations, only proving somewhat useful against humanoid or smaller sized bosses.
...
Li Yao had made his own studies on determining a monster’s balance point according to its abilities and actions. But the problem was, it was impossible to clearly see weak points, the firmness of the flesh on each part, and even precisely how much force would make the enemy fall, just like The Eye of the Creator could.
Usually, one had to make judgements based on experience.
The second method was damage accumulation. In the ancient gods, this concept was unique, similar to breaching the enemy’s defence.
Once the damage was accumulated to a certain extent, it could break one part of the enemy.
The effect was a bit similar to getting dizzy or losing consciousness due to constant attack on the head. This was speaking in terms of heavy weapons, for instance, the two-handed greatsword and warhammer.
Attacking a monster’s legs or wings could cause it to lose balance, also known as a knockdown effect.
But this required damage to accumulate to a certain level, which wasn’t fixed but decided by the monster’s characteristics.
This was also the most controllable method. Experts could often figure out how much damage a monster needed to accumulate to lose its balance, thereby mastering the rhythm of the battle and achieving a high hunting rating.
However, other players had not yet reached this level, Li Yao was likely the only one who could master this.
Li Yao’s initial idea was to probe and accumulate, but The Eye of the Creator’s surprise was so great and intuitive that he didn’t need to probe at all. It showed him precisely how much force could make the boss lose balance. It saved him a lot of work.
Li Yao made the boss knockdown by attacking another part, with the information from The Eye of the Creator flashing past.
Originally, Li Yao planned to attack the boss’s legs, but found the balance-breaking force displayed was insufficient. If by accumulation, he didn’t know how long it would take to knockdown a Warcraft level boss. Even if the boss was knocked down several times in one battle, it would total no more than tens of seconds, which was rather meaningless. It would be better for Li Yao to maneuver to attack the boss’s weak point.
But there was a figure flashing around the waist, so Li Yao attacked without hesitation. This was also a balance-breaking point, and attacking it could make the boss fall.
Even with his prior life’s skills, he hadn’t been able to figure out the boss’s balance point.
Li Yao had no obligation to explain. When the boss fell, Li Yao performed a Shadow Roll directly to the boss’s head, where he used a Scatter Bow to repeatedly attack at close range.
Puff, puff, puff…
The damage numbers were scarily high, and the few remaining players got into action, regardless of their sullen faces.
Subsequently, several players consistently tried to knock the boss down and finally did so after half an hour.
This was the result of damage accumulation, which made the audience erupt into cheers.
But, those who understood what was happening were still in majority. These people were secretly sighing. Nearly an hour has passed.
The boss was knocked down about once per minute on average, and was also left dizzy or unconscious five to six times, all thanks to one person’s effort.
They could only knockdown the boss once with accumulated damage by continuously attacking the same boss retreat, this was the gap.
Moreover, they found that Li Yao had completely controlled the attack rhythm. Many people found that twenty minutes later, Li Yao didn’t even use rolls, and forty minutes later, Li Yao hadn’t used a sidestep.
Even when he was charging his attack, Li Yao’s seemingly slow movements helped him dodge the boss’s attacks perfectly.
Those who were still flipping and tumbling did not realize the gap, but many spectators did.
Not only the damage output, just watching the scene could make them feel the vast difference.
Many were left in bewilderment. These were supposed to be top experts, so why did the skill gap seem so huge?
These top experts were only familiar with the boss’s abilities, but they still needed to use various life-saving skills to struggle, and only had time to output in between survival efforts.
But Li Yao was toying with the boss, making it spin in circles. The boss’s hatred was basically concentrated on him, but it couldn’t even touch a hair on his head, and it was constantly being blasted.
At last, after an hour and ten minutes, the boss’s body fell to the ground with a loud thud.
Tinkle, tinkle…
A shiny, colored badge fell onto the ground, but this wasn’t the only item. A small chest also lay on the ground.
The spectators suddenly woke up. They had been completely engrossed in the battle, forgetting about their desire to gain benefits.
Seeing the spoils of war falling off, everyone’s eyes turned red. But they all knew they were too late. The spoils would fall into Li Yao’s or the remaining players’ hands.
Among the remaining players, two were thieves, another a Pain Warlock, and the last one an Arcane Mage.
Although the four of them struggled hard, they had persisted until the death of the boss, proving their skills.
Clap…
Waves of Arcane shock spread, directed towards all players near the boss’s corpse.
Swoosh…
One thief entered sneak mode, while the other made a forward roll towards the boss, his dagger aimed directly at the mage who had teleported next to the spoils of war.
The Pain Warlock cast a curse at Li Yao, who, with a sidestep, perfectly dodged the initial damage of the skill, but his agility was reduced by a fifth as the curse hit him.
Shadow Step!
The thief who entered sneak mode appeared directly behind Li Yao, his dagger aiming for the back of Li Yao’s head.
The Demon Eye summoned by the Pain Warlock also emerged from the void, its gaze dead-set on Li Yao.
Li Yao executed a Shadow Roll to expertly avoid the two-pronged attack.
The thief’s dagger pierced into the Demon Eye, but the thief showed no intention of pulling back. Instead, he ripped apart the Demon Eye.
“You’re looking for death!” the Pain Warlock was furious and cast a curse on the thief.
Then, a dark beam connected the thief and the Pain Warlock, who was sucking out the thief’s soul.
The thief’s face changed. He executed a backward somersault and a dazzling smoke grenade flashed.
Smoke Bomb, and the thief disappeared.
Meanwhile, the other thief’s dagger hit the Mage’s Arcane Magic Shield, shattering it.
With the Magic Shield’s shattering, shards of the Arcane Shield spread quickly.
The thief was caught off guard and was knocked flying. The Magic Bullet in the Mage’s hand was also released, and three rows of Arcane Missiles rushed towards the thief’s body.
Shadow Cloak!
Woo… @@novelbin@@
The thief in mid-air turned into a shadow, using disappear, and landed with a roll in front of the Mage…
What do you think?
