Chapter 723: Clash of the Titans
Chapter 723: Chapter 723: Clash of the Titans
In reality, the clueless little Dumpling is a child, which is clear from her wide innocent eyes and gives her an unsuspicious appearance.
Especially against these haughty experts, nobody would think that a child could pose a real threat in battle. Even if she did, they’d still think of her as no match for them.
In fact, Dumpling is the most eager learner among all the youngsters, always asking Li Yao to teach her whenever he isn’t too busy or to help review her battle videos and point out areas of improvement.
Though she is young and inexperienced, she harbors the ambition to participate in team competitions.
Fearing that Li Yao and his sister might not allow her to join the battle team, she works extremely hard, participating in guild or arena battles, seeking advice from Li Yao. This was how Dumpling spent her spare time.
In her previous life, she had secured a place in the Divine Enthronement after ten years because of her talent combined with Li Yao’s guidance and intense battles, her current skills far surpassed her earlier ones.
...
With countless vines spreading out, Dumpling began casting spells whilst simultaneously commanding four pets.
Crack, crack, crack…
The Earth Elemental slammed the ground ferociously, forming four earth walls to shield Dumpling.
To the left, right, rear, and above her, the walls formed a small house-like shell.
The Earth Elemental and Water Elemental positioned themselves at Dumpling’s front, ready to serve as meat shields.
The little house served as a barrier on all sides, also providing a screen for the physical form of the four totems.
As the vines started to extend, the Fire Elemental slammed the ground, covering the front with a sea of fire while the Wind Elemental unleashed a series of whirlwinds.
These little whirlwinds were the Wind Elemental’s primary means of attack – everyone knew their potency was rather low.
What stunned everyone was when the whirlwind traversed the sea of fire, it instantly transformed into a flaming Fire Tornado.
The encroaching vines were instantly withered by the heat, shriveling up before breaking apart amidst the flames.
A tornado, having crossed the sea of fire, had become a Fire Tornado; a number of these crazily rampaged, shredding and incinerating countless vines.
Wind Assists the Fire!
Everyone was aware; this was Dumpling’s self-discovered combination move. They were astonished by the power she possessed despite her tender age.
The control brought about by a plant mage was simply nauseating. If one was caught by the Vine Entanglement, other vines would swarm and attack violently.
Many professions would feel helpless against a plant mage’s onslaught.
However, now, no matter how crazily the vines spread, they were unable to cross the sea of fire.
And the vines that tried to strangle the little house formed by the earth wall from the side were instantly frozen into icy vines.
A defensive wall of frozen vines was formed around the earth wall, reducing the impact of further vine attacks to mere ice chips.
“Damn it, are you a damn turtle or something?” Aela, looking displeased, had initially wanted to find an easy target, but ended up provoking a tough nut instead.
She felt paralyzed in progression, swiftly threw the vines she held, making them all disappear.
With a vengeful heart, Aela summoned three Treants, using three leaves she had.
The three Treants clumsily charged at Dumpling.
The Earth and Fire Elementals directly confronted them, each holding off one Treant, while the last Treant charged at Dumpling.
Slam…
Earthbinding Totem!
With the fall of the totem, the already slow speed of the Treant became slower; it was now crawling like a tortoise.
Dumpling, along with the Ice Elemental and Wind Elemental, started attacking the Treant frantically. The Treant collapsed to the ground even before it reached the Earthbinding Totem.
The Fire Tornado, a transformed version of the wind elemental, had drastically increased in power. The Treant quickly caught fire due to the continuous attacks.
Boom, boom, boom…
With the sound of explosion, the last Treant also fell down.
“Humph, whatever you’ve got, bring it on, I’m ready,” Dim-eyed slowly approached.
Aela’s face looked awful, the Treants she summoned weren’t weak, they were high-level bosses, but they simply couldn’t achieve anything. To make matters worse, this result came from her personally directing the battle without casting any magic.
“I originally didn’t want to waste too many seeds on you. I didn’t expect you to be so strong.” Aela grabbed a different batch of seeds, “I’ve miscalculated this time.”
She quickly spread the seeds, a row of Ice Melons grew, along with a row of gigantic nuts, right in front of them.
The mere act of scattering these seeds and having the plants grow in rows was no simple feat.
Thump, thump, thump, thump…
Row after row of Ice Melons came crashing down on Dim-eyed.
With the falling of the Ice Melons, Dim-eyed’s Elementals took damage. However, with Totem Summoning, as long as the totem didn’t perish, the summoned beings wouldn’t die or disappear.
But the Ice Melons fell on several Earth Walls, the frosty vines became brittle under the weight of the Ice Melons and started to crack. If it continued like this, the room formed by the Earth Walls would collapse very quickly.
“Did you think you’d be safe if you dodged?”
Clap, clap, clap…
Dim-eyed unleashed three totems at once: a Fire Snake Totem, a Fire Shock Totem, and a Buff Totem.
The Fire Snake and Fire Shock Totem began to attack the nut barrier as soon as they appeared, coupled with a few Elementals, magic spells were flying everywhere.
Each side gave as good as it got. To put it plainly, now, they were competing to see who would cave first.
“It seems that your plants can just manage this much. Now, it’s my turn to counterattack, right?”
Dim-eyed summoned a Lightning Totem this time and then began to cast his own spells.
Sizzle…
Dim-eyed and the Lightning Totem simultaneously unleashed a Lightning Chain. Lightning Chain was a penetrating magical skill.
Once it hit a target, it would spread electricity to everyone nearby.
Originally, under the protection of the nut barrier, the Elemental Pets’ attacks couldn’t harm the Ice Melons at the back.
But with the Lightning Chain, one after another, the Ice Melon plants were destroyed. Ice Melons might be useful, but they were incredibly fragile.
Aela kept throwing handfuls of plant spears, but as long as the hut made of Earth Walls wasn’t destroyed, her Elementals wouldn’t die and the attacks wouldn’t reach Dim-eyed.
Aela gritted her teeth again, throwing out several more seeds. This time they grew into a kind of grass that emitted a faint green light that could heal other plants.
But the output of Dim-eyed, his summoned beings, and his totems was too fierce. It wasn’t just the Ice Melons, even some of the meat shield nuts were threatened with destruction.
The healing plant wasn’t useless, but its effects were limited, it could only delay her defeat.
Her teammates didn’t look good. They had all been hoping for Aela to win. They had a lot riding on this fight, and they had no opinions about who Aela chose to fight with. They would have chosen the same way if they had taken the field themselves.
Boom, the ice layer shattered.
But the nut wall also broke. Dim-eyed even began to command two of the Elemental beings to charge forward.
The outcome was clear. With no more nuts to obstruct them, the Ice Melons were cleaned up quickly.
This battle, for some gaming newcomers, was impressive, at least there were a lot of abilities being thrown around. But to the experienced players, it was a bit of a letdown compared to the first two games.
Especially the first game, which was a battle of wits. The third game was all about brute force…
What do you think?
