Chapter 883 - 883 883 Battle of the Cave
Chapter 883: Chapter 883: Battle of the Cave Chapter 883: Chapter 883: Battle of the Cave Li Yao was somewhat speechless, having not expected such an incident to occur today.
Li Yao briefly surveyed the area, noting that the players were primarily from the Light Faction, and he even spotted the human factions’ armies.
“No, these are the private armies of the nobility,” Li Yao’s eyes turned blue, “This body is far stronger than humans.”
Li Yao then turned to the orcs and found their stats to be even more formidable than those of the humans, but what truly surprised him was that the physical strength of these human armies was nearly on par with that of the Dragon Clan on the Black Dragon’s side.
“Could these be the private armies of the Black Dragon Princess?” Li Yao knew the course of history, how the Black Dragon Princess had once framed the leader of the Light Faction.
She had used a spell to split the leader of the Light Faction into two, one with some memories, confined on a secret island controlled by the Black Dragon Princess.
The other, stripped of memories and turned into a slave, became a gladiator for the Dark Camp, barely surviving life-and-death struggles.
Later, when the two were reunited, it was rumored that the Black Dragon Princess had been killed, yet here she was, reappearing.
Li Yao shifted his gaze to a human woman shrouded in a black veil; although her face was hidden, her demeanor alone was exceedingly noble and enchantingly seductive, nearly identical to the mature and seductive Black Dragon Queen in the distance.
What puzzled Li Yao, though, was why the Black Dragon Princess would besiege her own mother.
After all, all Black Dragons were considered traitors by the Dragon Clan, facing attacks from the other four dragon species.
The Black Dragon clan was relatively united, and with the Black Dragons now greatly reduced in number, infighting was almost impossible.
Of course, the unity of the Black Dragons wasn’t absolute.
The Black Dragon King, corrupted by ancient gods and in mental disarray, no longer cared about the Black Dragon clan and was solely fixated on world annihilation.
The Black Dragon Prince, Black Dragon Princess, and Black Dragon Queen all coveted control over the Black Dragon clan.
The Black Dragon Prince had established his own domain, effectively inheriting the remaining Dragon Clan and even controlling a Red Dragon warrior, occupying the vast Blackrock Mountain as a regional lord.
After feigning death upon her previous defeat, the Black Dragon Princess still lurked in the Dustwallow Marshes, secretly aiding her brother. Of course, she wasn’t devoid of ambition to replace him, but she lacked sufficient strength.
The Black Dragon Queen was the strongest member of the clan aside from the Black Dragon King and could be regarded as the mightiest dragon apart from the five Dragon Kings.
But ten thousand years ago, the power of the Soul of the Giant Dragon and the disturbances from the old gods nearly ruptured the Black Dragon King’s body, causing his downfall.
He forced himself upon every female Black Dragon; he couldn’t bear to harm his daughter, who luckily escaped the calamity. Other female Black Dragons were almost driven to extinction, and even the Black Dragon Queen nearly perished.
Even though she survived, her powers were greatly diminished, and she continuously sought ways to regain her strength.
Li Yao could imagine that after ten thousand years, the now independent Black Dragon siblings certainly wouldn’t want a Dragon Queen overseeing them, so they transformed into human form, posing as human armies to kill the Black Dragon Queen.
Of course, another possibility was that the mother and daughter had allied against the Dragon Throat Clan, hoping to control the Demon Soul and thereby the Red Dragon clan, but this was speculative.
Li Yao was making his conjectures based on information from his previous life, but he was still unclear about the specifics.
Now, Li Yao needed to observe closely but was quite sure that these players had been duped.
They thought they were aiding the Light Faction with a quest, blissfully unaware that they were actually dealing with dragons in human skin.
The battle below had reached a fever pitch, and Li Yao had finally understood why he’d been ignored despite his efforts.
The Black Dragon Queen and the Black Dragon Princess were now in human form, casting spells frantically. Their spells were expansive and ferociously powerful, each causing substantial damage.
The entire cavern was blanketed with wild spells, and although the Dragon Throat Orcs were not as formidable as the Black Dragon mother and daughter, they had more dragons.
These Red Dragons weren’t warriors, but they looked like adult giant dragons, and the combination of their furious Dragon Breath and spells was a force to be reckoned with.
All three sides were seeing red in the chaos of battle. Of course, the weakest faction was the players. Although they had been magically enhanced to tier six, they were still merely elites, foot soldiers among foot soldiers.
But the combination of player classes and their numbers was not to be underestimated.
Li Yao even spotted familiar figures—players from the Hundred Flowers Alliance. Of course, there were not only them, but also the Dark Camp’s Qionghua Guild, the Shengshi Guild, and guilds like the Chaotic War Alliance and the Paladin’s Glory from the neutral camp consisting of middle-aged and older players.
“This Black Dragon Princess truly lives up to her reputation,” Li Yao watched with relish. It was not easy to bring together the formidable guilds from the three major camps.
“Ugly freak, why invade the territory of the Dragon Throat Clan? This is our turf,” Nekros, the shaman of the Dragon Throat Clan, roared.
With each Red Dragon that perished, his heart ached immensely. These were the dragons he’d raised over the years. Losing even one was agonizing for him. He had dreamed of dominating the East Continent with a Red Dragon Legion, yet he hadn’t expected to suffer such losses here.
What infuriated him even more was that the Black Dragon Queen had been developing her power right under his nose for several years.
“Red-skinned monster, you’re asking for death,” the Dragon Queen roared with rage, bombarding Nekros with her violent magic.
Nekros was no slouch either. Having sided with the Burning Legion, he was now an extremely powerful Magician, his spells equally formidable.
At this moment, the Black Dragon Princess had already retreated to the edge of the battlefield, watching as if she were enjoying a play.
Troops against troops, generals against generals, the fight was intensely fierce and chaotic.
The newly risen Black Dragon Queen lacked strong allies. Completely overpowered by Nekros and his mount, a mighty Red Dragon Warrior, her strength waned.
“What are you still watching for, aren’t you going to help? Do you want me to die?” The Black Dragon Queen was sent flying by a dragon tail, reverting to her true form.
Half her body was streaming with magma, her appearance utterly destroyed and horrifying to look at.
A massive wound from a dragon tail sat at her chest, clearly breaking countless bones.
“Hehehe, isn’t that exactly what I want, for you to die?” the Black Dragon Princess’s figure flickered, “You say you’ve been gone for so many years, why come back now? Even if you did return, you should’ve recovered from your injuries first, shouldn’t you? But you come scurrying back, not fully healed, trying to boss me and my brother around. Tell me, what should I do?”
A dark circle of light imprisoned the head of the Dragon Throat, and the Black Dragon Queen bellowed, “I am your mother, how dare you plot against me?”
“Mother? Since birth, my brother and I have only had each other. What mother, what father? What have they to do with us?” The Black Dragon Princess laughed as she began casting her spell. Giant meteors bombarded the massive body of the Black Dragon Queen relentlessly.
“You should never have caused trouble on orc territory.” Nekros sneered as he joined the attack.
Li Yao gaped, “No, I can’t just stand by on such a good opportunity.”
Li Yao looked towards the other battlefields below. The strongest battlefield wouldn’t yield results any time soon; joining now would be suicide. It was the skirmishes below where he could gain some considerable advantage…
What do you think?
