Chapter 184 - 184 184 He Only Has Eyes for Her (3)_1
Chapter 184: 184, He Only Has Eyes for Her (3)_1 Chapter 184: 184, He Only Has Eyes for Her (3)_1 He looked down at her, his face cold. “Where are they?”
He wouldn’t let anyone who dared to harm her get away.
“I knocked them unconscious.” Jian Qing’s eyes curved, not at all like the fierce Shura she had been before.
He raised an eyebrow at that. “Didn’t kill them?”
“They should still be savable.” She chuckled.
Quan Yifei listened silently to their conversation, a look of exasperation on her face. Was it really appropriate to discuss this in front of the police?
The corner of her eye caught a glance at Officer Wang, who was standing not far away. Seeing the indescribable look on his face, she felt a twinge of sympathy for him.
Song Xirou looked at the two people embracing each other, the deep-seated hatred in her eyes surging uncontrollably. From beginning to end, his eyes only contained her. He didn’t even ask a single question about the old Mrs. Quan and the others. Is Jian Qing that important to him?
Officer Wang, standing to the side, noticed it was almost time and nervously approached. Clearing his throat, he said, “Miss Jian, ten minutes are up.”
Jian Qing looked up at Quan Jingwu, signaling him to let go. “I need to go to the police station to give a statement.”
“I’ll go with you.” Quan Jingwu furrowed his brows, taking a glance at Officer Wang which sent shivers down his spine. It was as if he was back in the military, being scrutinized by his trainer.
But this man was even more terrifying than any military trainer.
Jian Qing nodded, then turned to face Quan Yifei, “Yifei, Xiaojing is accompanying me. You and Auntie can go back first.”
Quan Yifei nodded obediently, like a pecking chicken. “Okay.”
The Quan family’s driver had arrived, opening the car door for Mrs. Quan.
Rhee followed suit, getting into the car. Rolling down the car window, he looked at Quan Jingwu. “Jingwu, after you finish at the police station, bring Qingqing back to the old mansion. I’ll have the kitchen prepare soup for Little Qingqing tonight.”
“Hmm.” Quan Jingwu nodded, looking at the girl beside him without raising his head.
Inside the car, Song Xirou’s eyes darkened, her jealousy of Jian Qing increasing.
Watching the car leave, Jian Qing turned to Officer Wang, slowly saying, “Officer Wang, we’ll drive there ourselves.”
“Oh, sure, sure.” Officer Wang, still somewhat stunned, quickly responded.
Quan Jingwu opened the door for Jian Qing to get in. He circled around to the driver’s side, started the engine, and the black sports car kicked up a plume of dust before vanishing in an instant.
Officer Wang sighed, resigned to following them in his police car.
On the road, Jian Qing closed her eyes and feigned sleep, her right hand surreptitiously dipping into her pocket.
Quan Jingwu’s attention was focused on her. Seeing her close her eyes, he assumed she was tired and slowed down the car.
When they reached the police station, Quan Jingwu accompanied Jian Qing inside. The police chief was there waiting.
Before they arrived, Officer Wang had already called the station. When the chief heard Quan Jingwu’s name, he rushed out of his office to wait for them.
“Mr. Jing!” The chief greeted warmly.
Quan Jingwu responded coolly, his violet eyes chilling. “Isn’t the statement ready to be made?”
“Yes, yes, quickly.” The chief shouted to Officer Wang. “Hurry up, don’t waste Mr. Jing’s and Miss Jian’s time.”
Officer Wang despised the sycophantic display from his superior, but as he was the one in charge, he could only follow orders.
With Quan Jingwu there, the police chief dared not extend the statement recording. In fewer than five minutes, they had finished. The police chief smilingly escorted Quan Jingwu and Jian Qing to the entrance. He exhaled only when their car had disappeared from sight, then turned back to go inside.
At last, he’d managed to send off the daunting figure.
In the car, looking at the scenery outside the window, Jian Qing noticed they were not heading to Shijin Haoting. She turned to look at the man driving.
“Xiaojing, where are we going?”
“To the old mansion. My mother has prepared soup for you.” Quan Jingwu occupied one hand on the steering wheel while the other gently rubbed her hair.
Jian Qing was taken aback for a moment, but then she remembered what Rhee had said earlier – she had almost forgotten about it.
“I don’t have any clothes at the old mansion. I can’t walk around in these clothes, can I?” Her clothes were dirty, bloody, and she couldn’t bear it.
“It’s no problem, I’ll have someone send them over,” he said.
Jian Qing’s eyes flickered. “Or, let’s not go to the old mansion today and go another day.”
“Hmm?” Quan Jingwu looked at her in confusion; something seemed off.
Caught in his inquiring gaze, Jian Qing felt her heart jump. She coughed lightly. “Never mind, let’s go to the old mansion. I’ll have someone deliver my clothes.”
Forget about it, she would take one step at a time. There would be many people at the old mansion, and he probably wouldn’t always stay by her side. He might not discover her secret.
Quan Jingwu stared at her deeply before refocusing on driving.
Jian Qing took out her phone and sent a message. When she inadvertently pulled her right hand, she cringed slightly.
…
By the time they got back to the old mansion, Quan Hao and the patriarch were already waiting in the living room. After hearing from Quan Yifei about what had happened, both felt a sense of fear in retrospect.
Especially Quan Hao, who looked at his wife with heartache, wishing he could drag out the man who almost caused her to roll down the hill and beat him up.
“Are there injuries anywhere else?” Quan Hao asked with concern.
Rhee shook her head, gripping his warm hand. “I’m fine. It’s all thanks to Little Qingqing this time. Otherwise, I’m afraid I would have been severely injured.”
Hearing this, Quan Hao nodded solemnly, feeling grateful to Jian Qing.
The old patriarch spoke. “Jingwu is accompanying Qingqing to the police station. They should be back soon after making the police report. Feifei, call Jingwu and remind him to bring Qingqing back for dinner.”
True to the woman who would be their future granddaughter-in-law, she possessed courage and martial prowess uncommon among her peers. At least, they could not find a second woman like her in Beijing.
“There’s no need. My second aunt and third brother mentioned it. Later, Quan Jingwu and Jian Qing will come home together.” Said Quan Yifei.
Seeing everyone constantly mentioning Jian Qing, Song Xirou felt a strong sense of frustration. Despite this, she maintained a cheerful smile on her face. “Mrs. Quan, I’ll leave then and not disturb you further.”
Mrs. Quan reached out to stop her. With a kindly smile on her face, she said, “Stay and have dinner with us tonight; there’s no rush to leave.”
“Yes, Xirou, you must have been frightened today as well. Just leave after dinner.” Quan Yifei chimed in.
With a shy smile and blushing cheeks, Song Xirou responded, “It’s all thanks to Jian Qing’s efforts. I was not able to help; I’m useless.”
Mrs. Quan comforted her. “What are you talking about? You had the courage to exchange yourself for Rhee as a hostage at a critical moment. We appreciate your intention.”
“Mrs. Quan, if you put it that way, I would feel embarrassed.” Song Xirou replied, “I didn’t contribute much.”
What do you think?
