Chapter 127 No Racism.
Between a human and a beast, he believes that if he can kill one of them, he should be able to kill both of them.
He also believes that if there is something wrong with killing one of them because of their race, then there should be something wrong with killing both of them.
It took 12 years to learn that lesson. Thanks to them, he doesn't care about race anymore. He only cares about strength.
If he were on Earth, this mentality would be wrong. But he is no longer on Earth. He is in Ethera.
In Ethera, this is the mentality he needs to survive. It is the mentality that everyone else has. As they say, when in Rome, do as the Romans do.
On Earth, he can at least call the police if someone is trying to kill him. On Earth, a murderer will also be jailed or killed as punishment for their crime.
But those things don't happen in Ethera. There are no police or court of law. No one will come to save him if someone is trying to kill him. He only has himself to rely on.
It is not that he appreciates wanton slaughter. But if he wants something he is willing to do nearly anything to get that thing.
It is not a strange mindset in Ethera because the law of this world is the survival of the fittest. Which is why he will avoid dojos not because he doesn't want to harm innocents, but because he can't bear to anger their protectors. So he will stick to eliminating criminals for now.
"As long as there is low-level crime in this city, I will be able to earn something."
He lifted his wine cup and said, "Here is to hoping that Irvin will be able to point me in the direction of his comrades."
Then he drank it and went to bed.
Late at night, he woke up and got dressed. What he wore was a black shirt and trousers. He also wore a black coat and black silk all over his face.
His get-up helps him hide his identity. It also helps him blend well into the night. These two things are very important for his clandestine operations.
The other important things are his small sword and a knife. He also took his box of tools.
The toolbox contains the equipment he uses to tease out information from people. These are blades for cutting, alcohol and salt for making wounds more painful, pliers, a hammer, and many more.
Most of the people he met don't want to talk to him. They take him for a stranger, so they don't want to talk to him.
He can't blame them much for their reaction to him suddenly cornering them and breaking their legs. It is understandable that they will be averse to him, which is why he has a surefire method to become familiar with them.
The familiarity is purely physical. He takes the person on a journey exploring the various parts of their bodies and how far those body parts can stretch before breaking.
He has to do all the work, but he doesn't mind. He becomes familiar with their bodies, and he helps them become familiar with their bodies too. That way they become his friends who can tell him just about anything.
After taking his toolbox, he checked himself in the mirror. After making sure that there was nothing out of place, he blew out the lamp and prepared to leave.
His room is on the second floor of the hotel. But he didn't open the door and use the stairs to leave. Instead, he opened his window and left through it.
He jumped down to the ground from the second floor and rolled over the ground to muffle the sound of his descent. Then he disappeared into the night.
It was nighttime, so it was dark all around him. But people were still moving about.
Businesses and other activities still continued. So there was light from lamps hanging everywhere.
He avoided the street so as to avoid the lamps. This meant he had to take alleys or cross through many people's compounds to reach his destination.
He was skulking about like a rat while the faint light of the golden Ethera tree shown in the distance.
His target is a bar that serves as a front for a fighting ring. The fighting ring is underground, beneath the bar.
Entry into the fighting ring is not restricted. Anyone can come over as long as they know where it is.
The fighting ring is not trying to hide because it forces slaves to fight to the death. They are hiding because someone strong told them not to have the fighting ring above ground.
Apparently, that strong person had gone there to gamble one day. The person gambled and lost a lot of money, which angered them.
So the person destroyed the den and swore that as long as the fighting pit is held above the ground, he would come back and destroy it.
They gave the person a lot of money and begged for forgiveness, but she refused to budge. So they have had to hide what they are doing ever since.
Their hiding is just because of formality. The person they had offended felt insulted and punished them. As long as they abide by that punishment, nothing bad will happen to them.
So all he needs to do to gain entrance into the fighting ring is to enter the bar, get a drink, and go into the basement.
This is something everyone does, but he can't do it because of his goal for the night. He has to find another, more secretive method into the fighting ring.
This is not difficult for him at all. The fighting ring has a lot of exits that lead to the surface. The exit he chose is the one that Irvin is supposed to arrive at tonight.
This exit is within a house beside the bar. Anyone who wants to use it must enter or leave through the building too.

He didn't enter the building directly. Instead, he climbed onto the roof of the building opposite his target. This way he can see who enters and leaves the exit.
What do you think?
