Chapter 121: Move Again!
Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Move Again!
“Give it to me,” Gu Annan said, reaching out his hand directly.
“Give what?” She looked utterly bewildered.
Gu Annan glanced at her phone and snatched it from her hand.
“Gu Annan, that’s my phone!” Lu Wanwan exclaimed, jumping up from the couch.
No matter how agile she was, she was no match for his speed.
“Too noisy,” Gu Annan said, holding her phone and pulling it away when she tried to snatch it back.
Lu Wanwan grabbed at nothing, and due to the momentum, her body leaned against his chest.
His hand immediately restrained her in his embrace, the phone held high, “Make another move! Make another move and I’ll throw it.”
She twisted her body, failing to break free, and looked at him reluctantly.
The last phone had its screen shattered during the engagement, and this one was given to her later by Zhao Chen, identical to the previous one; one could say both were from Gu Annan.
So even though she wanted it, she couldn’t rightly claim it.
“How about I just mute it? I have things to do,” she proposed.
Gu Annan gave her a cold look, lowered his hand holding the phone, and prepared to turn it off but glanced at the screen just before doing so.
The screen hadn’t gone completely dark yet, displaying the message the editor had just sent her and the message history.
His expression turned as cold as eternal ice when he saw the content.
“Bai Lingyun?” he asked, word by word.
So she had run all the way from Manchester to Japan and found this hotel just because of Bai Lingyun’s work assignment; he was totally unrelated!
He had never asked why she was here from the start because he hadn’t considered any other possibilities.
Even when he saw her talking to Bai Lingyun at the restaurant entrance this morning, he thought it was just a coincidence, as the likelihood of her receiving news from Bai Lingyun and coming especially for that was too slim.
“Gu Annan….” Lu Wanwan lowered her voice, wanting to explain that she hadn’t let Bai Lingyun discover, “I haven’t yet, I…I wasn’t planning to go!”
He suddenly released her, his eyes as piercing as icy arrows.
So he’d been in Japan for quite some time without a word, and she actually never cared!
If they hadn’t coincidentally met, she probably wouldn’t have asked him a single question.
“You can go now,” he said emotionlessly.
Lu Wanwan listened to him speak without emotion and then watched as her phone was forcefully tossed onto the couch.
Gu Annan, with a look of indifference, entered the room and slammed the door shut.
She stood there dumbfounded, not expecting such a massive reaction from him.
Her heart felt as though it was being tightly grasped; she barely had the strength to breathe.
*
Lu Wanwan sat on the carpet, her back against the sofa, arms wrapped around her knees.
She felt indescribably awful, her eyes unbearably sore.
She had experienced his sudden coldness before but never felt this suffocated.
She even thought that even if the mission failed, she didn’t want to risk Gu Annan disliking her.
Was it because in the short span from yesterday to just now, she had already started to get used to the side of him that seemed to care about her?
After wiping away her tears, she replied to the editor’s message on the phone, then turned it off.
The sky grew darker, and the entire afternoon passed.
Lu Wanwan felt somewhat dizzy from hunger.
When the door suddenly reopened, she quickly raised her head.
Gu Annan had changed his clothes. Seeing that she was still there, his expression remained utterly cold.
“Gu Annan,” Lu Wanwan said urgently as she stood up, wanting to explain.
She had been sitting for too long in the same position, and her legs had gone numb.
Combined with her slight hypoglycemia and having not eaten, she felt darkness encroach upon her vision, lost sensation in her legs, and collapsed straight down.
What do you think?
