Chapter 24 - 24 24 Your Husband is Really Handsome_1
Chapter 24: Chapter 24 Your Husband is Really Handsome_1 Chapter 24: Chapter 24 Your Husband is Really Handsome_1 Su Wanxia suddenly had black lines all over her forehead—
It seemed this man had been outside the door all along, teasing her on purpose.
Mu Yingchen looked at Su Wanxia, who was glaring at him, with an innocent face and couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?”
Confronted with his expression, Su Wanxia retorted in a tender voice, “I called you for so long just now, why didn’t you come in?”
“Did you call me just now? I didn’t hear anything.”
“You did it on purpose!”
“No, I only heard one thing: Mu Yingchen, I’m ready! I really didn’t hear anything else!” Mu Yingchen said, standing at the door as if nothing had happened.
Su Wanxia felt so aggrieved; he was doing this intentionally.
Seeing her standing there looking pitiable, Mu Yingchen couldn’t bear to tease her any longer. He picked her up in a princess carry and walked towards the bed.
He had done it on purpose because she kept calling him ‘hey,’ ‘that,’ and ‘Director Mu.’ Those nicknames coming from her lips had made him feel almost uncomfortable all over.
Gently placing her on the bed, Mu Yingchen went back to the sofa to read the newspaper.
Su Wanxia couldn’t help but worry, “I didn’t go home last night and haven’t called my family yet!”
“I had already called yesterday, telling them you are on a business trip for the next few days. Don’t worry!” Mu Yingchen said without looking away from the newspaper.
“Oh,” Su Wanxia said. She felt a huge relief hearing his words; she didn’t want her parents to know about what happened last night and worry about her.
“And those people from yesterday…” She vaguely remembered hearing Mu Yingchen say that he had taken care of the two leading men, and the other punks had been sent to the police station. She didn’t want to cause any trouble for him because of her encounter.
Upon hearing her words, Mu Yingchen’s obsidian-like eyes darkened momentarily before returning to normal. He set aside the newspaper and walked back to the bed.
Bending over, he said gently to Su Wanxia, “I just gave them a little lesson. What happened yesterday is over; don’t think too much about it. Besides you, no one else will know!”
Su Wanxia looked at the tender-faced, handsome man and felt her heart inexplicably squeeze, affirming once again that he understood her best.
She had indeed thought about keeping last night’s incident a secret from everyone, but that was just a fleeting thought. She didn’t want her disgraceful state to be known to all, including Mu Feng and Ji Hua, because what had happened yesterday was a humiliation to her.
But he had quietly taken care of everything for her and made all the arrangements. This man…
During her six years abroad, including the time before she was with him, she had always been very independent, strong, and also proud.
Yet for some reason, every time she was with him, her IQ seemed to regress, becoming as childish as it was in her childhood. No matter what the issue was, he would always silently take care of it for her.
She never had to worry about what to do when she encountered trouble, when it rained heavily without an umbrella, what to do when she fell ill, and countless other situations.
“Thank you!” Su Wanxia suddenly blurted out these two words with a voice that carried a hint of longing she herself hadn’t noticed, thanking him for all he had done for her, for the beautiful times he had given her, thank you…
Mu Yingchen stiffened, then slowly stood up and walked elegantly to the window. After a long silence, he finally spoke softly, “Since when did we ever need the words ‘thank you’ between us!”
Before Su Wanxia could say anything, he turned around abruptly, stood by the window looking at the person on the bed, and said indifferently, “I did all this because I wanted to, so… no need to thank me.”
Su Wanxia stared at the tall silhouette by the window, slightly taken aback.
The gentle sunlight cast upon him, hazy and ethereal, turning his fine black hair to gold in the morning light, as if it were threads gilded with gold.
With his back to the light, he resembled a deity stepping out from the sacred golden luminescence of myth, handsome, noble, and divine.
Such a scene was excessively beautiful, yet Su Wanxia felt that he was inherently a being of perfect existence.
“What’s the matter?” Mu Yingchen, noticing Su Wanxia staring blankly, couldn’t help but ask.
“Uh… nothing,” Su Wanxia quickly averted her gaze. She absolutely couldn’t let that man see she had been mesmerized by him just now; it would be too embarrassing.
“The air is nice this morning, I’ll push you outside for some fresh air,” Mu Yingchen inquired about Su Wanxia’s opinion.
Su Wanxia blinked happily, not wanting to stay cooped up inside, which was stifling.
“Mhm!” She nodded her head excitedly.
Mu Yingchen looked at her childish behavior and helplessly curved the corner of his lips.
When Mu Yingchen wheeled Su Wanxia to the hospital garden, those aware of his background were stunned; they actually saw the powerful, imperious big BOSS personally pushing a woman in a wheelchair.
Although they had heard that their big BOSS was rather extraordinary with this woman, personally pushing the wheelchair still seemed unnecessary!
Could this be the prelude to having a BOSS lady?
Su Wanxia also heard some murmuring behind her and embarrassedly said to the person behind her, “Maybe we should let the nurse do it!”
Mu Yingchen acted as though he hadn’t heard and continued pushing her forward, stopping the wheelchair next to a bed of flowers.
The air was fresh here, the tall trees partially blocking the sunlight, making the temperature feel just right and comfortable.
“Oh! What a handsome young man!” An elderly woman with silvery hair and dressed in a hospital gown somehow found her way to them, followed by an old man, presumably her husband.
“My dear, your husband is so handsome! And he’s so attentive to you, what good fortune!”
Su Wanxia smiled awkwardly at the old lady, “You’ve misunderstood, we…”
“Oh, you’re not married yet!” The old lady exclaimed, surprised, then leaned in closer to whisper to Su Wanxia, “Then you must hurry, a man like this is hard to find even with a lantern!”
“Heh-heh,” Su Wanxia gave a dry laugh, truly at a loss for words.
“Come on, old woman, when are you going to change your chatty habit?” the old man by her side chided, then said to Su Wanxia and Mu Yingchen, “Don’t mind her, my wife just talks a lot.”
“Hehe, it’s okay!”
Before the old man led the old lady away, he turned back to Su Wanxia and said, “But young lady, the man you’re seeing is really something. You should get married soon.”
After speaking, he slowly walked away with the old lady, their figures supporting each other. Their backs made Su Wanxia think of a saying, “To hold your hand and grow old with you”—perhaps this is what everyone aspires to, to be able to grow old with the one you love; it’s such a blissful thing!
But how could they tell she and Mu Yingchen looked like a couple?
Mu Yingchen’s mood, however, brightened at the thought, silently musing to himself: Marriage!
It was something that even thinking about felt wonderfully beautiful!
What do you think?
