Chapter 163 The Blizzard I
The Blizzard I
Christopher would be lying if he said that Scarlet's new ability, Annihilation Insight, didn't make him extremely giddy.
This was because its applications were truly too cast to comprehend in a short amount of time.
It was so good that Christopher had to implement it into his current training schedule by using it at its base form to aid in his battles.
Like everything else, he did this to improve his incredibly vast foundation, and to improve how he implemented his skills and abilities in a fight.
That's why instead of doing what he did with the strange ice creature that refused to die, which was to directly annihilate it by striking the weak point that was detected, he simply made the weak points visible to his eyes and figured out the best ways to kill an enemy with that in mind.
And that wasn't all as he also focused on ways to exploit weaknesses he found in the more abstract concepts surrounding him to aid in a fight.
For instance, slicing a point in space would throw an enemy off balance and create an opening for him to strike. Things like that.
He could also find weaknesses in the posture and intentions of his foes. So if a beast wanted to slash its claws at him, Christopher could easily detect the flaws in its motion and find out the best ways to dodge, deflect, or even break through the attack.

All this made Christopher's already insane comprehension speed increase at an even more astounding rate as he started using better combinations than what he used in the past and improved how he made use of not only his arsenal but the environment around him.
All in all, he was extremely satisfied with Scarlet's efforts. And speaking of the weapon, he stopped restricting his use of it, including Norn.
Currently, he was holding Scarlet in his right hand in a standard grip and Norn in his left with a reverse grip. Most people think that holding a sword in a reverse grip is effective, but that is just plain wrong.
There are a few reasons for this, but the biggest ones are that, for one, it significantly reduces one's reach as when gripping the sword backward, your hand is positioned closer to the blade, reducing the effective extension range.
Another reason is that it weakens one's wrist position for blocking as the joint is more susceptible to bending if in a reverse grip than in a standard grip when wielding a sword.
A third reason is that it reduces cutting power as a blade isn't optimized for cutting in such motions at those angles.
These nuances usually can be curbed as one gets stronger, but the principle is the same anywhere. Well, for beings like Christopher who has a humanoid body structure.
Anyway, the reason Christopher was no longer sticking to his plan of using his weapons unless the situation called for it came from a new desire to make them feel as needed as possible as that was their ultimate desire as his weapons.
Moreover, he could simply prevent them from using their abilities if he felt like the battle was too unfair, so it wasn't difficult to have a proper workaround for the issue.
As such, Christopher only sheathed the blades whenever he wanted to deal with his opponent from long range. And in the situation that doing such a thing wasn't possible, then he'd close the distance and use the swords.
However, with Annihilation Insight, it became too easy to deal with foes from a long-range as he could just target the weaknesses that he had been directed to. So most of the time, he just let the enemies get close before dealing with them.
Though he planned to change that soon considering that, to him, his ability to deal damage at a long range was still lacking. So he'd continue shooting his opponents even if it didn't feel particularly relevant.
At this point, Christopher was traversing an area that was filled with numerous drops that went incredibly deep into the ground. Christopher had no idea what was below the hidden realm because as far as he was concerned, the place was flat as it had borders.
So what was beyond the sky? And what happened if one went deep enough? He was curious, but not enough to try. The main reason was that he was busy.
Still, he was curious. After all, this realm was created as a result of the Paragon dying, so it wasn't simple. He doubted the realm's sky and bottom extended infinitely, but if it didn't, then what lay beyond? Was there a boundary? If so, what was beyond that? Would he just end up in the Void? Or would he end up somewhere entirely different?
Somehow, Christopher didn't feel inclined to check.
At some point, the sky darkened slightly and he looked up to see a dense cloud flying towards him.
'No, not cloud. Those are birds.' He noted. It seemed like he was about to get swarmed again.
He calmly sheathed Scarlet and Norn before holding his hand out, to which an exquisite bow made of a special metal alloy he created on the spot appeared in his hand.
He drew the string and slowly, but also quickly, an arrow formed, made of purple electricity. It wasn't that color because it fused with annihilation, but because Christopher made it that color.
He pulled the string back until the bow was curved into a half-crescent shape, electricity sparking from the arrow.
Then he let go.
However, the arrow didn't sail through the air like it normally would have, as Christopher teleported it directly into the mass of birds.
He didn't bother looking anymore as he continued hopping across the gaps, but high above, the birds had all been caught in a massive explosion of electricity that reduced them to ashes.
Christopher killed a few more beasts, most of them being massive abominations that dwelled in the deep holes in the ground, and he successfully crossed the region.
After that, he tilted his head.
'Oh?' That's because, in front of him, a large tide of beasts was rushing his way. But it wasn't some crazed desire that spurred them, like what had happened with stronghold #1. Instead, he could clearly see the fear in their eyes.
'They're running from something.' The thought wasn't filled with apprehension as he merely made an observation.
What was surprising though, was that he spotted more than a few Apex-ranked beasts running as well. Though they weren't particularly high up in the rank, that fact alone was bound to make many people scared.
But not Christopher, he seemed to be more curious than anything else.
He strengthened the effects of his mask and calmly took a step, but instead of his foot falling, he ascended as he had just stepped on a staircase.
He did this until he was above the tide and started to walk calmly in the sky like he was walking on solid ground. Then again, as the Primordial Arbiter, treating space like a solid surface wasn't something that should have been seen as impressive.
As Christopher walked, he finally caught sight of what frightened the many beasts, and he understood.
It was more than a thousand miles away. From such a distance, nothing should have been large enough to be perceived, and yet the blizzard was so large it looked like a wall that stretched into the sky.
Such a size... was absolutely colossal.
To put into perspective, the curvature of a world like Earth wouldn't apply here since again, the hidden realm isn't a planet as is flat.
Christopher had to look almost straight up to see the full height of the blizzard. About 80-85°. In that case, the blizzard's height would be at least 5,000 to 10,000 miles (8,000 to 16,000 km) tall.
In comparison, earth's atmosphere is about 62 miles, or 100 km high before reaching space. So the height of this blizzard dwarfs planets in scale.
And people were meant to pass through it.
'The stronger you get, the more insane things you have to experience.' Christopher almost laughed.@@novelbin@@
He who was a normal human not even up to a year ago was somehow about to brave a blizzard that was thousands of Mike's tall which was made up of miniature ice shards moving faster than the speed of light that were capable of causing existence erasure if one didn't have the means to defend against it.
And the fact that he wasn't scared or worried, went to show just how much his mindset had changed since he reincarnated and gained the system.
It was insane, yet Christopher wasn't perturbed. In fact, he was a bit excited. The reason being that something told him that the blizzard and it's existence erasure wasn't the only thing he needed to worry about.
But that gave him a pause.
'Hm, can they handle it then?' He thought about his subordinates and how he had told Aisha to make them deal with protecting the soldiers. Now that he was seeing the blizzard in person, he became a little doubtful. Could they handle this?
Then he shrugged.
'If push comes to shove, I can just have my Void clone go and help them.' With that thought, he went forward.
What do you think?
