Chapter 825: Chapter 825 You Should Call Me Dad
By the time Gu Chengqiao arrived at the hospital, it was nearly noon.
As CEO of Guotai Group, Gu Chengqiao himself was quite popular, and due to his frequent appearances in the media, many people recognized him, especially at a private hospital like Shensong Hospital where the patients were mostly rich or noble, some even managed to strike up a conversation with Gu Chengqiao.
“Oh, President Gu, are you also here at Shensong Hospital for a check-up? What seems to be uncomfortable?”
“Nothing serious, just here for a routine check-up. How about you, President Li? Is your back pain any better recently?”
“Much better. The doctors at Shensong Hospital are quite skilled. My back used to hurt so much it felt like it was breaking every day, but after two sessions of acupuncture and taking the prescribed Shu Yao pills they gave me, I hardly feel any pain anymore! It’s truly amazing!”
“Congratulations to you, President Li, for finally finding the right doctor.”
“I was desperate, taking a shot in the dark, but it turned out to cure me! However, the doctor who treated me with acupuncture was injured by a patient, and I heard she might even be disfigured. Sigh, these days it’s so hard to find a reliable doctor, why would a patient want to harm or even kill the doctor? I’ve been thinking about enshrining this doctor because my back’s future depends on her!”
Gu Chengqiao’s smile froze for a moment. The doctor mentioned by President Li couldn’t be Qiao Yin, could it?
“Sigh, I originally planned to have another acupuncture session to consolidate the treatment, but now it seems impossible. Director Song said the doctor was so badly injured that she can’t work anymore.”
“President Li can wait until she recovers and come back in a few days for the treatment.”
“You’re right, President Gu. I’ll come back after a few days. You should go ahead and have your physical now. See you later!”
“See you.”
Gu Chengqiao politely dealt with the interactions, and upon turning around, he encountered someone else and started another round of pleasantries.
His heart was clouded, but his face wore a friendly smile, with no air of superiority, responding cheerfully to anyone who talked to him, whether acquainted or not, always answering that it was “just a routine check-up”.
Not to mention that he was indeed in good health, even if he were truly ill, he couldn’t admit it publicly, as it would lead to a significant drop in the corporation’s stock price.
It wasn’t until he entered Qiao Yin’s office that his smile finally faded.
Qiao Yin was applying medicine to her wound. Although she had no intention of letting the wound heal quickly, she couldn’t neglect it entirely and basic antiseptic and anti-inflammatory care was still necessary.
Upon seeing Gu Chengqiao enter, she paused in her actions, her tone slightly cold: “President Gu.”
Gu Chengqiao looked at her, the corners of his lips revealing a trace of bitterness: “Still calling me President Gu?”
“What else should I call you?”
“Didn’t your grandmother tell you about your origins?”
Qiao Yin looked at him without much expression: “What origins?”
Gu Chengqiao frowned slightly, this morning her grandmother acted as though she hadn’t said anything.
He sighed softly: “Qiao Yin, I am your biological father. You should call me dad.”
“President Gu is willing to acknowledge me? Right after I got injured yesterday, I immediately went to find you, but you didn’t seem willing to acknowledge me. Why are you willing to tell me about my origins today?”
Gu Chengqiao sidestepped the question, not responding to Qiao Yin’s issue, and instead asked: “Did you already know about your origins yesterday?”
Qiao Yin detected his evasion but didn’t seem to care: “I didn’t know. If I did, I wouldn’t have come looking for you. I would only hate you.”
Gu Chengqiao’s expression became increasingly bitter: “True, I have wronged you and your mother, but Yinyin, I have my difficulties. I don’t expect your forgiveness, but I hope you can give me a chance to make up for past neglect. I was actually happy when I found out you are my daughter, which is why I sent you those gifts.”
What do you think?
