‘Bang!’ She slammed her phone hard onto the table, startling the foreign man beside her.

“Koko, what’s wrong?”

Chu Xi’s face looked as if it had been streaked by lightning, her nails digging into her flesh as she tried desperately to calm herself. Taking a deep breath and with an expressionless face, she said, “He’s gone. He just sent me a message saying he had paid the bill and left.”

“Mr. Li left?” Her agent was also taken aback, his face mirroring utter surprise. “Why would Mr. Li suddenly leave?”

Chu Xi’s expression darkened, “I don’t know. I suddenly got a message that he had left.”

She had never been stood up before, let alone in such a situation where someone would leave her halfway through dinner!

That man had just casually sent her a message and walked away… A tightness formed in Chu Xi’s chest, stifling her, unable to rise or fall.

She had always been a very smart person, but now she couldn’t figure out why Li Shengxiao would agree to the dinner and then suddenly leave partway through.

Rong Yan had no choice but to follow him as they pushed open the door to the private room.

The people inside all looked at them in unison, with Gu Ming showing the most reaction, abruptly rising from his seat and respectfully saying, “Mr. Li.”

After greeting him, Gu Ming instantly glanced guiltily toward Rong Yan, cautiously observing her reaction.

Zhong Yuye’s eyes narrowed slightly, taking in his actions. His lips twitched symbolically in a small smirk, “It was merely a trifle.”

“But I heard you had to transfer ten million to a friend to settle the matter on behalf of Yanyan,” he said.

Zhong Yuye’s lips became a firm line, neither confirming nor denying.

Sparks seemed to fly where the two men’s gazes met.

Even Rong Yan noticed something amiss between them.

Before she had the chance to ease the tension, she heard the man holding her breaking the ice with a cheerful tone, “Qi Yue is an artist under KT Entertainment. I can’t simply take advantage of Mr. Zhong’s kindness.”

Zhong Yuye waited for his next words, “So, does Mr. Li plan to return those ten million to me?”

He had said it before. He didn’t help out because of anyone’s face, it was simply because he saw Rong Yan and it was a trifle to him. He didn’t need anyone to pay him back deliberately!

Li Shengxiao detected the faint disdain in his eyes and his own gaze grew colder. The hand on Rong Yan’s shoulder tightened, “Of course not.”

“If Mr. Zhong has helped Yanyan, then he has helped me. The favor she owes you is the same as if I owe it. Just returning the money to Mr. Zhong, of course, doesn’t settle the favor of you helping my girlfriend this time.”
