Chapter 141 Fifth Floor II
The Hobgoblins roared in unison, their guttural cries echoing across the clearing as they charged toward Leon and his group. The ground trembled under the weight of their charge, and the air grew tense with the promise of battle.
Leon raised his sword, its edge shimmering faintly with a golden aura. "Stick to the plan," he commanded, his voice cutting through the noise. "We take them in waves. Roselia, support with area control. Roman and Millim, keep them off the casters. Naval and Liliana, focus on the flanks."
Roselia nodded, raising her staff high. A swirling vortex of ice and wind erupted from her hands, creating a barrier of freezing air that slowed the Hobgoblins' advance. The front line hesitated, their movements hindered by the biting cold.
Roman and Millim charged forward to meet the onslaught. Roman's swordsmanship was impeccable, each swing calculated and efficient. He cleaved through the first Hobgoblin that reached him, its body crumpling to the ground in a heap. Millim, on the other hand, was a whirlwind of raw power. Her fists glowed with a fiery aura as she leaped into the fray, delivering bone-crushing punches that sent Hobgoblins flying.
Naval and Liliana flanked the group, their movements graceful yet lethal. Naval's rapier darted like a striking serpent, finding gaps in the Hobgoblins' crude armor and dispatching them with precision. Liliana's gauntlets, wreathed in black flames, ignited her foes on contact, their screams of pain mingling with the sounds of clashing steel.
Leon stayed at the center of the formation, directing the flow of combat while delivering devastating strikes to any Hobgoblins that broke through. He activated Light Blade, his sword glowing brighter as he unleashed a flurry of slashes that tore through multiple enemies at once. The Hobgoblins' numbers began to dwindle, but their Captain remained a looming threat.
The Hobgoblin Captain finally stepped forward, its battle-axe raised high. With a roar, it slammed the weapon into the ground, creating a shockwave that disrupted the group's formation. Roman was quick to react, planting his sword into the earth to steady himself. "I'll handle the Captain," he called out, his eyes locking onto the imposing foe.
"No, we'll do it together," Leon replied, stepping beside him. The two warriors advanced toward the Captain, their coordinated movements honed from countless battles together.

The Captain swung its massive axe with surprising speed, forcing Leon and Roman to dodge in opposite directions. Leon retaliated with a precise slash, aiming for the creature's exposed side, while Roman went for its legs. The Captain snarled, its thick armor absorbing some of the damage, but the coordinated assault began to wear it down.
Meanwhile, Roselia maintained control of the battlefield, her spells keeping the remaining Hobgoblins at bay. She conjured a ring of fire that trapped several of the creatures, their screams of agony echoing through the clearing. Naval and Liliana continued to mop up the stragglers, their synergy as a duo becoming increasingly apparent.
Millim, not one to be left out, charged toward the Captain. "Make room!" she yelled, her fists glowing brighter as she activated Earth Breaker, a skill that sent a shockwave through the ground upon impact. Her punch connected with the Captain's chest, the force of the blow staggering the hulking creature and leaving it momentarily vulnerable.
Leon seized the opening, activating Blade Surge, a powerful technique that unleashed a concentrated burst of energy from his sword. The strike pierced through the Captain's defenses, leaving a deep gash across its torso. Roman followed up with a decisive slash to its legs, bringing the beast to its knees.
The Captain let out a final roar of defiance before collapsing to the ground, its lifeless body emitting a faint glow as it disintegrated. The battlefield grew quiet, save for the heavy breaths of the group as they regrouped.
"Good work, everyone," Leon said, sheathing his sword. "Let's gather what we can from the remains and set up camp."
As they looted the fallen enemies, Leon's Analyze skill revealed several useful materials and a rare item: the Hobgoblin Captain's Pendant, an accessory that boosted physical attack and defense. He handed it to Roman, knowing it would complement his role as their frontline tank.
After another half an hour, Leon, Millim, and her maids absorbed the Source, leveling up by one or two levels.
Leon spoke, "Since there's a Hobgoblin camp here, it means there are likely more Goblins around."
They all nodded in agreement.
"A Goblin traveling horde. And if there was a Hobgoblin Captain at such a minor camp, it means there's an even bigger Goblin group out there—hopefully somewhere in this forest too."
Millim spoke as Leon nodded. "I guess your knowledge is up to date," he said.@@novelbin@@
Millim's face suddenly turned red. "W-what happened?" he asked, noticing her reaction.
"N-nothing," she stammered, shaking her head. Leon shrugged, deciding not to focus on her behavior.
Meanwhile, Liliana understood what had happened with Millim. "She completed the Marriage Pact with him," she thought. "I should have noticed this when she fed from his neck instead of his wrist," she mumbled to herself, glancing at Millim.
With the Marriage Pact complete, Millim was now able to see some of Leon's recent memories. However, even she couldn't fully comprehend them. Her powerful Blood Memory skill wasn't able to access anything related to the System within Leon.
"Her life is now tied to him," Liliana thought, glancing at Leon. With the Marriage Pact completed, Millim could only feed from Leon, and if she didn't, she would slowly fall into a deep sleep—permanently if Leon were to die, as she would no longer be able to drink his blood.
"Sigh, what a worrisome matter," Liliana thought, shaking her head, though she silently vowed to help Leon.
"Not that I'm in a position to strengthen him," she added inwardly, deciding to wait and see how this situation would unfold.
Leon unaware, that eh once again got married for the second time without his knowledge kept walking to find the next Goblins settlement.
What do you think?
