Chapter 195: Battle Arena XI
Kieran dashed forward, his blade gleaming, while Leon stood still, not even bothering to take a stance.
"Why isn't he dodging?" Vanessa asked in disbelief as she watched Leon just standing there like an idiot.
"You remember his words, right? The thing he said about defeating Kieran without moving from his spot?" Aeron reminded them.
They nodded, eyes fixed on the scene.
"I guess we're about to find out whether he was serious or just joking," Aeron added as they continued watching intently.
Back on stage, just as Kieran's sword was about to reach Leon's neck, something unexpected happened.
Suddenly, another blade intercepted the attack. A Dark Knight stood there, its presence imposing as it locked eyes with Kieran.
Leon smirked and lazily pointed at Kieran. "Meet my summon. You won't be fighting me."
With a burst of smoke, the Black Knight took its stance in front of Kieran, ready for battle.
Kieran narrowed his eyes, gripping his sword tighter. "A summon, huh? You think hiding behind it will save you?"
Leon chuckled, folding his arms. "Hiding? No, I just don't need to waste my energy on you."
The Black Knight moved first, its heavy blade slashing down at Kieran with immense force. Kieran barely dodged, rolling to the side before countering with a quick thrust. The summoned knight reacted instantly, parrying the attack with ease.
The audience watched in awe.
"That summon... it's not just strong—it's fighting like an actual warrior!" Ragnar muttered.
Vanessa nodded. "Leon didn't just summon a mindless puppet. That knight has skill."
Kieran clicked his tongue and leaped back, creating distance. His aura flared as he finally activated his ability. "Fine, let's see how long your summon lasts!"
With a burst of speed, he vanished and reappeared behind the Black Knight, slashing at its back. Sparks flew as his sword connected, but to his shock, the Black Knight didn't falter. Instead, it turned around and counterattacked with even greater speed.
Leon smirked from the sidelines. "Oh? Struggling already?"
Kieran growled, realizing that if he wanted to win, he'd have to go all out.
"You will regret making me go all out," Kieran said as, in the blink of an eye, he appeared right in front of Leon.
Leon barely moved as Kieran's sword stopped just before reaching his neck.
"You stopped it?" Kieran asked, surprised to see Leon standing there unharmed.
When Leon glanced to the side, he saw that the Black Knight had been sliced into pieces.
"You move faster... No..." Leon muttered, narrowing his eyes. "There are no slash marks or anything. That means your ability is related to time manipulation."
Kieran stepped back, clicking his tongue. "Tch... You're sharp. Fine, I'll tell you. My ability is called Bullet Time. I can make my movements as fast as the speed of sound—temporarily."
Leon looked at him like he was an idiot. "Why would you reveal your ability so openly?"
Kieran smirked. "I didn't. That was just the basic effect of my ability."
Leon raised an eyebrow but didn't react otherwise. Instead, he cracked his knuckles and stepped forward.
"Alright, then... come at me."
Kieran grinned, his sword gleaming under the arena lights. "You asked for it."
In an instant, his body blurred—his speed surpassing what normal eyes could follow. The sound of his rapid movements echoed like gunfire as he darted around Leon, striking from multiple angles.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Each time his blade came close, it was effortlessly blocked—not by Leon himself, but by something invisible.
Kieran clicked his tongue in frustration. "What the hell?!"
Leon smirked, standing completely still. "You're fast, but you're still thinking like a normal swordsman."
A faint black aura flickered around him.
"Shadow Guard."
Suddenly, from Leon's shadow, multiple dark hands extended, grabbing onto Kieran's limbs mid-motion. His speed became useless as he found himself locked in place.
Kieran struggled. "What is this?!"
Leon casually stepped forward. "Your mistake was assuming I needed to dodge at all."
With a flick of his wrist, a black shockwave exploded outward—sending Kieran flying across the arena, crashing into the wall.
The audience went silent.
Vanessa, Aeron, and Ragnar stared, their eyes wide.
"He didn't even move until the very end..." Vanessa muttered in disbelief.
Aeron exhaled. "He completely crushed Kieran's speed advantage."
The dust settled, revealing Kieran slumped against the wall, breathing heavily. His sword lay shattered at his feet.
Leon approached, hands in his pockets. "Still think this tournament was made for you?"
Kieran gritted his teeth, fists clenched in frustration. "Damn it..."
Leon tilted his head slightly. "If you're done, I'll take my victory now."
The announcer, still in shock, raised a hand. "T-The match is over! The winner is... Leon!"
The crowd erupted into cheers.
As the cheers echoed throughout the arena, the announcer stepped forward, still a bit shaken from the overwhelming display of power.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we have our champion!" He raised his hand toward Leon. "The winner of this tournament is... LEON!"
The crowd erupted into applause, with some in disbelief at how easily Leon had dominated every match.
Vanessa crossed her arms. "It was obvious he would win."
Aeron chuckled. "Yeah, but did he have to make it look so effortless?"
Ragnar smirked. "That's just Leon for you."
Kieran remained seated against the wall, his face filled with frustration. He clenched his fists but said nothing. He had lost, and there was no excuse for it.
🏆 Prize Ceremony 🏆
The stage was set for the awarding ceremony. A grand podium had been placed at the center of the arena, with three spots for the top three contenders—Leon, Ragnar, and Kieran.
Leon, as the champion, was at the highest pedestal, standing with his usual unreadable expression. Ragnar stood at his right, arms crossed, while Kieran reluctantly took his place on the left.
Kierna even lost to Ragnar leading to Ragnar getting Second place , he himself got third place.
The event organizer, a well-dressed man, stepped forward holding a beautifully crafted golden medal with a black gemstone embedded in the center.
He placed the medal around Leon's neck. "Congratulations, Leon. Not only have you proven your strength, but you've also given us one of the most unforgettable battles in tournament history."
Leon simply nodded, accepting the medal without much reaction.
Next, Ragnar and Kieran were given silver and bronze medals respectively. Ragnar accepted his with a grin, while Kieran, still bitter, merely took his without a word.
Finally, the announcer revealed a mystery reward—a magical artifact stored inside a black box. He opened it, revealing a crystal orb with dark energy swirling inside.
"This is the Shadow Core, a rare artifact said to amplify dark-type abilities. A fitting reward for our champion, Leon!"
"It's an extra reward given to Leon for his exceptional display of strength!" the announcer declared, his voice echoing through the arena.
The audience murmured in excitement as the announcer continued, "But now, it's time for the true reward, which will be personally handed over by our City Lord!"
At that moment, the City Lord leaped down from his seat in the auditorium, landing gracefully in the center of the stage. The sheer force of his landing cracked the stone beneath him, showcasing his overwhelming strength.
The man was tall, imposing, and clad in regal battle armor, with a flowing crimson cape. His piercing golden eyes swept over the contestants before locking onto Leon.
"Leon, step forward," he commanded.
Leon did as instructed, standing before the powerful figure without the slightest hint of nervousness.
The City Lord smirked. "You're strong, and strength deserves to be rewarded." Enjoy exclusive chapters from My Virtual Library Empire
He raised his hand, and a small, ornate box appeared in his grasp. He opened it, revealing an intricately designed silver ring with glowing runes carved into its surface.
"This is the Void Ring," the City Lord announced. "A powerful artifact that grants its wearer the ability to store immense amounts of items in a separate dimension. It also contains your Prize, the Ability Crystal, using it will give you rare ability Hyper Strength, multiplying your strength by factor of 3"
The audience gasped. A Void Ring was an incredibly rare treasure, usually reserved for high-ranking adventurers or nobles. To give it away as a tournament reward was unheard of!
Leon took the ring, examining it with a calm yet interested gaze. "Not bad," he muttered, slipping it onto his finger.
The City Lord chuckled. "I expect great things from you, Leon. Don't disappoint me."
Leon nodded and responded confidently, "I will ascend to the higher floors and make our city proud."
The City Lord gave a satisfied nod before turning to Ragnar and Kieran, handing them their respective prizes.
Ragnar received an uncommon ability crystal, "Echo." This ability allowed his strikes to release shockwaves upon impact, increasing his destructive force.
Kieran obtained an ability crystal called "Super Sense." It significantly enhanced his perception, sharpening his awareness to a near-inhuman level.
Leon glanced at the red crystal in his hand and nodded to himself. He was beginning to understand—each crystal seemed to complement their innate ability-though in his case overcoming the shortcoming of his, the shortcoming that never existed.
'If not for the cruel creation methods they use, I might have actually applauded this system,' Leon thought as he discreetly observed the City Lord.
City Lord unaware it was this very leon who has found about his dark secrets kept smiling as he talked to them.
What do you think?
