Chapter 273: Typhoon Sea Rift III
Roselia hurled a firestorm into their path, the flames reshaping into the form of a winged phoenix that incinerated several before dispersing into sparks. Roman moved between the gaps, blades flashing like mirrored lightning, fending off two Reavers at once while taunting a third.
Suddenly, a roar louder than thought itself.
The Sovereign's massive eye turned directly toward Leon. Every rune across the reef pulsed, and then—
[Abyssal Sovereign has initiated: Mental Invasion Field]
Individual Targets: All. Defense Roll: Tier IV required.
Time seemed to stop.
They found themselves floating in a void—not the ocean, but mindspace.
Dark water suspended them like thoughts in a dreaming god's mind. Each party member was isolated. The Sovereign's voice, neither male nor female, echoed like a lullaby whispered by a thousand drowned souls.
"Let go. Drown with me. You were never meant to resist."
Leon clenched his fist. "No."
Golden light exploded from his Miracle Sage Eyes, fracturing the illusion.
[Mental Invasion Resisted: Mind Sanctuary Reinforced – Time Compression: Cancelled.]
The others snapped back to awareness—shaken but conscious. The Blood Knights stood strong, though one had collapsed, foam bubbling at his mouth.
Leon's fury ignited. "You don't get to claim my mind."
With a cry, he launched forward like a golden spear, piercing through the water, crossing space as if it were light. His sword shattered one of the Sovereign's node-eyes, releasing a psychic shockwave that hurled even sirens off their dragons.
Naval channeled a full surge of lightning into the creature's side, forcing its body to convulse and slow its regeneration. "NOW!"
Liliana cried, "Seal Binding: Neural Disjunction!"
A glowing chain formed from her runes and lashed onto the Sovereign's fractured crown. It didn't hold it—it held its mind, momentarily severing its self-awareness.
Aqua, tears forming, raised her hands and cried out—not a spell, but a song.
A song of resistance. Of clarity. Of hope.
And the Sovereign screamed.
"Let's end this!" Millim roared, launching into a berserk spin, tearing through two more tendrils.
Leon channeled all his remaining divine light into one final strike—his blade now radiant, imbued with every ounce of will, pain, and hope they carried.
He dashed up the Sovereign's rising body, past burning runes and screaming mouths, past broken psionic glyphs—and drove the blade into the creature's final mind-core.
A blinding pulse. Silence. Then—
The Sovereign's massive body convulsed once, then again—and then collapsed.
The pressure in the Rift lifted. The thoughts, the whispers, the fear—it all drained into silence.
[Mind Typhoon Sea Rift Cleared.]
Reward: ??? | Special Drop: Crown of the Forgotten Sovereign (Mythic)
Achievement Unlocked: Mindbreaker's Triumph
New Title: Willwalker
The Reef began to dissolve slowly, the sub-realm collapsing.
Leon turned to his team. "Everyone still breathing?"
Millim grinned wide, blood on her cheek. "Hell yeah."
Naval slumped down, panting. "I'm gonna sleep for a week."
Roselia just muttered, "We're never doing another sea-type Rift."
Aqua was still clinging to Leon's arm, her voice quiet. "Papa… we won."
Leon smiled faintly. "Yeah. We did."
As the team stood on the dissipating coral ridge, the world began to shift unnaturally again—not like the collapse of a defeated domain, but like something awakening beneath the surface.
The ocean's colors faded from vibrant cerulean to ghostly violet. A low, resonating hum began to pulse through the water—a deep, ancient note that vibrated in the bones, as if something colossal was turning its attention toward them.
Suddenly—
CRACK!
The reef beneath them shattered, sending shards of glowing coral in all directions. Leon caught Aqua just before they fell. The team tumbled through the water until gravity—or something like it—realigned, dropping them gently onto a new surface: a wide, obsidian disc floating in a void of suspended currents and blinking stars.
Hovering at the disc's center was a glowing crystal obelisk, ancient and humming with broken runes.
Then it spoke.
"One has fallen. Four remain. The FIVE ABYSSAL PILLARS must be broken for the Rift Gate to close."
"Your actions have echoed across realms. The others awaken."
The obelisk cracked—and from the abyss beyond it, four lights flared.
Four directions. Four enemies. Four impossible forces.
To the East, the currents ignited in flame. Lava mixed with seawater, forming a deadly sphere of boiling death. From within it rose a Molten Leviathan, made of magma and obsidian, trailing steam like smoke. Its multiple heads hissed, and each roar boiled the sea.
Name: Infernal Maw of the Deep Volcano.
Domain: Volcanic Mind-Fury.
Element: Fire + Pressure.
Status: Awakened.
To the North, frost coated the water itself in thick ice walls. From behind them emerged a Glacial Harbinger, a massive armored jellyfish fused with clockwork and crystal. Its body shimmered with temporal magic, freezing time around its tendrils.
Name: Chrono-Drift Queen.
Domain: Ice and Time.
Element: Frost + Chronomancy.
Status: Stirring.
To the West, the ocean darkened—no light, no movement. Then, thousands of black feathers rose, spiraling like a cyclone. In the center hovered a winged humanoid made of voidglass and bone, with a single glowing eye.
Name: Whispering Mourner.
Domain: Forgotten Echoes.
Element: Darkness + Mind.
Status: Fully Awakened.
To the South, a storm erupted with divine fury. The sky broke into five layers, and a colossal sea dragon of light burst forth—each scale a mirror of a different timeline, showing futures and fates.
Name: Aeon Seraph of the Depths.
Domain: Divine Paradox.
Element: Light + Destiny.
Status: Dormant (Stirring).
Roselia stepped back, face pale. "So the Mind Sovereign was just... the first? A guardian?"
Liliana's hands trembled as she read the runes in the shattered obelisk. "Each of these bosses represents a different Law that binds this sea. Until we defeat all five, the Abyssal Gate to the Outer World remains open—and whatever's on the other side is trying to come through."
Naval cursed, pointing toward the south. "We need a plan, fast. If even one of those things reaches full power, we're done."
Leon narrowed his eyes. "We divide and conquer. But not by splitting up—we bait them. Draw them here, one by one."
Millim's grin returned, savage and ready. "I like it. Bring 'em in one at a time and break 'em down."
What do you think?
