Chapter 120
Inside the Holy Palace
The day before, Meteor had broken off his engagement.
Ending a betrothal to a ducal family like Pluto was no small matter, yet by the next day, life carried on as if nothing had happened.
His household, however, reacted very differently. The moment he announced that he had officially ended his engagement with Sienna, his family had gone deathly pale with shock.
His father had even spat out his tea.
Meteor had explained why he had no choice but to break the engagement.
It was a conversation he had never wanted to have with his family.
After all, he didn’t want to repeat how Sienna and the other noblewomen had gossiped about Crescent. Just saying it out loud made him sick.
In the end, his mother accepted the decision.
She assured him that she would handle the fallout and sent him to the Holy Palace, telling him not to worry about it anymore.
Meteor had never imagined that an engagement arranged so long ago would end like this.
And he had certainly never expected Crescent to be the reason his emotions crumbled so completely.
Enough.
He shook his head, trying to clear his mind.
Thinking about the engagement inevitably made him think of Crescent.
And thinking of Crescent always left him unsettled.
Mounting his horse, he prepared to depart for his Magi inspection.@@novelbin@@
Today, Adrian was assigned to his unit, sticking close as they rode out.
"What a shame," Adrian sighed dramatically. "You and I could have been brothers-in-law, you know?"
What do you think?
