My Divine Pet System

Chapter 5

C5 – Incredibly Bright!

Indeed, the class teacher on the podium considered intervening to halt the unfolding spectacle several times, but ultimately decided to observe how things would play out.

After all, he had finally discovered a promising Battle Spirit Fighter in the making. It was clearly unwise for the teacher to alienate an orphan without any influential connections.Follow 𝒏ew stories at n𝒐velbin(.)com

“I’m not sure if a sow can climb a tree, but it’s a certainty that you can. Since you’re so confident that I lack a Battle Spirit Bloodline, how about we make a wager?” Qin Hongyu proposed with a casual air.

“That’s absurd. But sure, I’ll take that bet. If you don’t have a Battle Spirit Bloodline, you’ll run ten laps around the track shirtless, with a sign around your neck proclaiming ‘I am worthless.’ Do you dare?” Ji Buyu retorted with a spiteful chuckle, laying out the cruelest bet he could imagine.

“Fine, but it still seems a bit tame. Why don’t we raise the stakes with an additional two thousand yuan?” Qin Hongyu suggested with a slight smile, unfazed.

Ji Buyu stared at Qin Hongyu as though he were insane. He had meant the harsh bet to humiliate Qin Hongyu, yet he hadn’t anticipated such an immediate and confident acceptance, let alone the added monetary stakes.

Could this kid truly be that assured of himself?

“No way, this can’t be happening!” Ji Buyu vehemently shook his head, banishing the impractical notions from his mind.

“What’s the matter? Is Class Rep Li scared of my Hongyu? It’s unbecoming for a boy to be so indecisive. It’s exasperating!” Bo Miaojiao chimed in with a look of disdain as Ji Buyu wavered.

“I… How could I possibly be afraid of that nobody? I’ll show you the clear difference between him and me. Let’s bet. Who’s afraid?” Ji Buyu blurted out, spurred on by the taunts of his crush.

“Agreed!” Qin Hongyu declared, rolling up his sleeves and striding confidently toward the podium, ready to place his hands on the Spirit Summoning Pearl.

The classroom was growing dimmer as dusk approached, and the light inside waned. The spectacle had drawn a crowd of students from other classes, who now filled the room, further shadowing the space with their eager presence.

Due to the recent skirmish, Class Nine had fallen significantly behind in the testing process, lagging far behind other classes. Many students from those classes, having already completed their tests, flocked to see the commotion after hearing that someone from Class Nine had successfully awakened their Battle Spirit Bloodline. They arrived just in time to witness the unfolding drama.

“Is Qin Hongyu out of his mind?” one student whispered. “He’s got only a 1% chance of winning, and yet he’s willing to wager so much against Ji Buyu?”

“I doubt he even has that 1%,” another chimed in. “The guy grew up in an orphanage and has always been frail. Honestly, his odds are probably closer to one in a thousand!”

“What! So he’s basically doomed to lose, right? Serves him right, though. He could have just kept his head down, but no, he had to get all cozy with the school belle. He’s practically begging for trouble!”

The buzz of speculation wasn’t limited to Class Nine; students from other classes gathered outside, eager spectators to the drama within.

Inside the classroom, Qin Hongyu took a moment to steady his breath before gently placing his hands on the transparent Spirit Summoning Pearl. Silently, he pleaded, “Divine Pet Evolution System, don’t let me down now!”

But as seconds ticked by, the glass bead remained unchanged—just a clear, inert orb.

“Qin Hongyu, you’ve lost…” Ji Buyu began, but his words were cut short. Suddenly, the once-dull Spirit Summoning Pearl burst into a blinding radiance, lighting up the dim classroom like a beacon in the night.
