My Girlfriend is a Zombie

Chapter 906: Splattered with Blood

Chapter 906: Splattered with Blood

“Hahahaha…”

Amidst maniacal laughter, Fang Ying’s figure suddenly vanished from where she stood.

“Come on!”

At that very moment, Ling Mo’s pupils constricted. Without hesitation, he leapt backward, slamming his body directly into the cabinet.

“Ye Lian! Now!”

Bang!

Just as the cabinet hit the ground, a sharp crash echoed from the window!

With countless shards of glass scattering through the air, an ear-piercing scream suddenly erupted in front of Ling Mo.

In the next instant, a shadowy figure was forcefully thrown out of its near-invisible high-speed movement. Overwhelmed by the terrifying power of a sniper bullet, Fang Ying lost control and was violently flung backward, crashing heavily into the pile of corpses with a loud thud.

The small stage instantly descended into chaos; even the coffee table that held the female corpse shattered into pieces.

Crash! Ling Mo’s Zombie Puppet fell to the ground alongside the cabinet. Shielding his eyes with his hands just in time, he crawled up from the falling glass shards with great effort.

“Did it work?!”

A cold gust of wind swept into the room immediately. The constantly swaying curtains brightened the room as light flooded in.

But as he scanned the utter mess around him, Ling Mo felt no relief. Clenching his fists tightly, he warily turned his focus toward the heap of corpses and debris.

She’s not dead yet!

Meanwhile, several hundred meters away atop a building across the street, Ye Lian didn’t blink as her gaze remained fixed on the sniper scope.

Her eyes followed the back of the Zombie Puppet, tracing along its shoulder into the room.

She had but a fleeting moment… During the earlier commotion, the window of opportunity had lasted only a tenth of a second-or even less. However, the moment Ling Mo’s voice echoed in her mind, she had fired without a single shred of hesitation!

No matter how difficult the shot, no matter how fast the opponent moved… None of that mattered to her. What mattered was focusing on the position Ling Mo had identified and pulling the trigger the instant he gave the cue!

All she had to do… was trust.

Ye Lian had waited there the entire time. It wasn’t until the moment she pulled the trigger that she finally caught sight of her target. Yet, neither the figure’s appearance nor their attacking motion fazed her in the slightest. She had seized the timing perfectly, even adjusting her aim in the fleeting moment that passed.

Such flawless coordination, such a brilliant ambush-so why… why was Fang Ying still alive?!

“Huff… Huff…”

Panting heavily, Ling Mo kept his unwavering gaze on the spot where Fang Ying had fallen.

Clang!

The sound of a piece of glass being flung echoed suddenly, followed by the heavy thud of two corpses being tossed aside.

Swish!

A blood-soaked hand emerged from the pile of shattered furniture as the corpses landed. Almost immediately, a sharp, mechanical click-click noise began to resonate.

“Tch…” Ling Mo let out a cold snort, though his eyes grew even graver.

As expected, this Progenitor Zombie was far from easy to deal with. After the failed ambush, her danger level had skyrocketed again.

If even a sniper bullet couldn’t take her down, then his Zombie Puppet would be left completely defenseless against her…

“She sure can take a beating…” Ling Mo thought grimly.

As the unsettling click-click sounds persisted, a figure with her head hanging low gradually pushed herself upright, propping up her upper body as she emerged into Ling Mo’s line of sight. It was as if her body was reassembling itself, every movement awkward and unnatural. Judging by the external signs, she appeared to have taken a significant blow, but as long as she could still move, this female Zombie remained as lethal as ever.

Ling Mo silently wished that she might suddenly collapse before fully recovering, but as her entire torso rose up from the debris, that wish evaporated completely…

Click-click…

Without warning, she jerked her head up, revealing a grotesquely twisted face before letting out a shrieking cry, “Ahhh!”

Fang Ying’s lower body was still completely pressed to the ground, while her arms bent unnaturally to prop up her torso. Combined with the unnerving way her neck stretched forward, she looked like something straight out of a television screen. In fact, if compared to the infamous “Sadako

,” Fang Ying was undeniably even more terrifying!

The hard shell encasing her entire body was already horrifying on its own, but what on earth was going on with the massive hole in her chest?

As she screamed, a spray of fresh blood erupted from the gaping wound in her chest, instantly drawing Ling Mo’s attention.

“She’s injured? Wait… No… That’s-That’s a fatal wound, isn’t it?!”

Fang Ying’s chest was entirely drenched in blood, with a large, gory hole ripped through her flesh. Even the surrounding fabric of her clothing had been shredded to pieces, leaving most of her chest fully exposed. Sections of her hardened shell were peeled back, revealing blood-red muscle tissue beneath. The destructive power it took to do something like this was almost unimaginable…

“Those bullets… They must be modified, right?”

During the takedown of the Falcon ambush Squad, Ling Mo had captured a man named Zhang Chenghui and brought him back to the Miracle Base. This guy, who possessed extensive knowledge of explosives and gunpowder, was quickly recruited and turned into a tireless workhorse. Once under Tom’s leadership, Zhang Chenghui was pushed to his limits, forced to reveal countless skills and techniques that even Ling Mo hadn’t managed to extract.

One such breakthrough was the modification of bullets. By specially refining ordinary ammunition, Zhang Chenghui was able to craft bullets with significantly enhanced power. For the batch of sniper bullets meant for Ye Lian, he went a step further-applying a unique customization.

As for what exactly made them so special, Zhang Chenghui kept his lips sealed, offering only a cryptic promise: “You’ll know when you use them. Guaranteed satisfaction!”

Well… now they knew.

One shot had shattered Fang Ying’s hardened shell and left her with a gaping wound so massive it was almost unbelievable.

These weren’t ordinary bullets-they were practically miniature explosives!

And the craziest part? The wound wouldn’t stop bleeding!

Given Fang Ying’s evolution level, she had likely already reached the threshold of becoming a dominant-level Zombie. With her abilities so far advanced, her self-regeneration capabilities should be nothing short of astonishing. The heavier the injury, the faster she ought to recover-at least her ability to stop the bleeding should have been terrifyingly efficient.

Yet, here Fang Ying was… endlessly spewing blood like a fountain.

“This… this can’t be something Zhang Chenghui could accomplish, right?” Ling Mo quickly realized.

If Zhang Chenghui had the technical skill to create something like this, he would have been too valuable for Falcon to let go. They would’ve hidden him away and guarded him like a precious treasure. There’s no way Ling Mo could have just dragged him back like that.

If it wasn’t Zhang Chenghui who pulled this off, then it had to be Ye Lian, the one who received the bullets. It made sense-only a Zombie like Ye Lian could understand the vulnerabilities of their kind so intimately.

This revelation caught Ling Mo by complete surprise. Who would’ve thought that quiet, reserved Ye Lian had been conducting her own research all along!

“She’s been working on this in secret and didn’t even tell me?!” Ling Mo thought, torn between pride and frustration.

Ever since Ye Lian advanced to the dominant level, she had grown even more bashful-especially around him. Ling Mo had chalked it up to small things at first, like how she hid her little notebook. But now, it seemed she’d been concealing way more than he imagined.

“Once this whole thing is over, I’m definitely sitting her down for a proper talk…” Ling Mo thought excitedly, rubbing his hands together in anticipation.

But back to the matter at hand. The bullet’s raw destructive power, combined with its bizarre anti-coagulant properties… One shot, and Fang Ying was already halfway to death’s door.

“But all things considered, someone at her level… she should’ve been dead by now!” Ling Mo thought, sweat beginning to bead on his forehead.

A single sniper shot was all it took-clean, efficient, and terrifyingly decisive. That’s the true terror of sniping. And now that the Thor rifle was in Ye Lian’s hands, it had been transformed into an unparalleled killing machine. The speed that human beings couldn’t keep up with, she could. Enemies humans couldn’t see, she could spot with those sharp eyes of hers. Angles humans couldn’t exploit, she could find and perfect. Her extraordinary pair of eyes seemed destined for sniping.

However, it wasn’t until her hidden potential was fully tapped that this innate talent truly began to shine. Take this shot for example-it was precise, lethal, flawless.

Ye Lian had done everything perfectly. The problem, then, wasn’t with the shot, but with Fang Ying…

Splurt.

Blood gushed from Fang Ying’s mouth again as she slowly contorted her neck, tilting it at an unnatural angle to look down at her own chest wound.

A second later, she let out a low, hoarse chuckle-strange and chilling-before lifting her gaze to meet Ling Mo’s. Malice flickered in her eerie eyes.

“You think I didn’t know?” she said suddenly, breaking the silence. “I’ve felt it before… almost got hit back then…”

“So Ye Lian did try something earlier,” Ling Mo thought, making a rapid deduction.

“But I couldn’t find my enemy…” Fang Ying continued, her voice laced with venom.

“Where exactly were you even looking?” Ling Mo couldn’t help but twitch his lips in sarcasm as he listened.

“And I didn’t expect them to cooperate with you…” Fang Ying went on, her tone shifting to a near-shriek. “…Where are they hiding? Where’s your ally, the one who attacked me? Is it someone like… like that body you’re controlling? Or is that your real body?”

“So wait… she didn’t realize this whole time that it was sniper fire?” Ling Mo thought, genuinely stunned.

Then again, on second thought, it made a certain kind of sense. Fang Ying had been an office worker before all this, someone with a mundane, routine life. Sniping was probably something she’d only ever seen in movies or on TV, and even then, without experiencing it firsthand, it would’ve been easy for her mind to dismiss it as irrelevant fantasy. Plus, Fang Ying’s mental focus had always been obsessed with her memories of the Rosen Company-the pivotal part of her past that seemed to define her entire existence now.

From the very beginning, she was never really free. What truly shackled her wasn’t this place or anything external-it was the memories consuming her thoughts, trapping her in an endless loop of her old life.

As Fang Ying spoke, blood continued to ooze profusely from her wound. But despite this, she clawed at the ground, dragging herself forward at an alarming speed, closing the distance between herself and Ling Mo.

Her chest wound had also begun to writhe grotesquely. Even as she crawled, Ling Mo could hear disturbing, wet sounds coming from within her exposed injury-sounds that immediately put him on high alert.

Click… click…

Suddenly, something wet and slippery shot out from inside her wound. It was bloody and grotesque-a sickening sight barely visible through the dim light. Before Ling Mo could even process what it was, Fang Ying had already lunged forward, springing directly in front of him with terrifying speed.

With a screeching roar, she rose to her full height, towering over Ling Mo.

“AHHHH!!!”

As Fang Ying let out a spine-chilling scream, a torrent of blood splurted violently from her chest. The spray hit Ling Mo square in the face, momentarily blinding him. Through the crimson haze, he barely caught a glimpse of something… a pair of eyes.

“They were eyes born out of a spray of blood―deep crimson, icy cold, radiating pure savagery and an overwhelming aura of bloodlust. At the same instant they appeared, a tongue longer than Fang Ying herself suddenly emerged before Ling Mo. With a sharp, whistling sound slicing through the air, the gruesome appendage shot straight toward Ling Mo’s head with alarming speed and deadly intent…”
