Qin Zhiyou turned around just in time to see the elevating golf club.

This club, constructed of sturdy iron, had just been used a few times. On the surface, Qin Zhiyou looked unaffected, save for his slightly knitted brows. However, the reality was that the forceful hits from this iron club were incredibly painful.

Instinctively trying to dodge, he shifted his body slightly away from the car door. Unable to bear it any longer, Lu Weixi forcefully pulled open the car door and rushed out!

Upon seeing Lu Weixi opening the door, and placing herself within the range of the golf club, Qin Zhiyou’s first reaction was to throw himself toward her, shielding her from the assault!

“Thump!—” The hefty club struck with such immense force that the wooden golf shaft instantly snapped. The forward section of the club smacked the back of Qin Zhiyou’s head, sending a hum through his skull. The world turned pitch-dark, and he toppled over, falling into Lu Weixi’s arms. The impact sent her reeling backward into the driver’s seat, with Qin Zhiyou in front of her, blocking her from the onslaught behind!

Qin Zhiyou, who had been fighting outside in the rain, was completely soaked. As he fell, the water from his clothes drenched Lu Weixi. There was also dirt and grime all over from dodging and moving around.

But Lu Weixi couldn’t care less about all that. All she could see was Qin Zhiyou. Especially when he raised his head slightly, causing her to see blood slowly trickling down his forehead.

“Zhiyou, Zhiyou!” Her voice was filled with anger, urgency, and overwhelming sadness. Qin Zhiyou might have gotten out of the car in a fit of anger initially, but he had ended up getting hurt while protecting her! All because she hadn’t locked the car properly, causing Qin Zhiyou to be distracted and attacked—it was all her fault!

During all this, Qin Zhiyou still found the strength to curl his lips into a smile, waving it off casually and reassuring her with a look that said, “I’m fine”.

But, soon enough, several guys charged over, landing heavy blows on him one after another!

With Qin Zhiyou in this predicament, he couldn’t even stir, let alone evade or resist. He just spread his arms, tightly shielding Lu Weixi, and allowed the barrage of punches to rain down on him!

“Stop, stop! Stop hitting him!” Lu Weixi watched as these men, like merciless beasts, crowded over and relentlessly pummeled Qin Zhiyou. No longer finding the time to put up a brave front and smile at her, he merely kept his head down, using his body to intercept their vicious blows while protecting her head with his arms. Not only was she shielded from witnessing the brutal assault, but she was also kept out of harm’s way. @@novelbin@@

Although she couldn’t see, she could feel the tremors of the man before her as he took blow after blow.

“Stop hitting him, stop! Zhiyou, Qin Zhiyou!”

Lu Weixi yearned to struggle, to help him escape, to convince these guys to stop attacking him—she even wished the person being beaten was herself!

However, Qin Zhiyou was shielding her so tightly, she couldn’t move a muscle, let alone put up a fight!

So, all she could do was helplessly watch as each punch and kick descended upon his back and legs. Watching as the blood from his forehead slowly dripped down, spilling onto her cheek, and tracing a path down her face.

“Qin Zhiyou, Zhiyou, Zhiyou…” Gradually, Lu Weixi’s pleas went from loud cries for intervention to low, muttered sobs.

She had never felt quite like this before. Heartache, distress, guilt, especially when she saw a tattooed man pick up the broken golf club and raise it high again!
