He could only follow her from a moderate distance, following her as she walked, walked and walked.

Lu Weixi started walking at two o’clock in the afternoon, but she kept walking as if she never got tired. She walked along the streets, through alleys, past riverbanks, through the campus, from day to dusk, then into the night.

But all he could do was follow her, follow her all the way from the west side of the city to the east.

Once, at a traffic light, he was fractionally too far away from her. The light changed before he could cross the street, and when he dashed across during the next cycle, he looked around and couldn’t see anyone familiar. Qin Zhiyou was scared to death, thinking that he had lost her. But then, he spotted a figure near a subway entrance that looked like her and immediately rushed over.

Seeing that it was really her, he sighed with relief. Was she planning on taking the subway? Had she finally become tired after walking all afternoon, and was now planning to take the subway home?

However, a frightening possibility suddenly occurred to Qin Zhiyou – what if she was giving up on life and was planning to throw herself onto the subway tracks?
