My Identity Becomes Increasingly Abnormal

Chapter 5 – Going to be famous

"It can be confirmed. The patient has a strong tendency towards aggression. Please be aware," said the psychologist.

"Does he really have a mental illness?" asked the policewoman with a serious expression.

"Yes," nodded the psychologist, hands in his lab coat. "I'll leave now, and when I come back tomorrow, I'll provide a psychological evaluation report for the patient."

"Ah... okay, thank you Dr. Cheng," said the policewoman.

"You're welcome."

After the psychologist left, the policewoman turned to the male policeman next to her and said, "It looks like we need to reevaluate our assumptions about the cause of Chen Yu's death."

"I'll report it to the chief," said the male policeman, turning to leave.

In the interrogation room, Chen Yu, who had overheard everything, wanted to burst out and prove his mental state. But it was clear that doing so would only confirm that he had a problem.

After a moment of silence, Chen Yu sat back down on the "regret chair" and tried to keep his emotions calm.

About half a minute later, the iron door of the interrogation room was carefully pushed open by the policewoman, who peeked in to check on Chen Yu's condition.

"Hello," said Chen Yu, squeezing out a smile and speaking politely. "Please sit down."

"Chen Yu, how are you feeling now?" asked the policewoman with an unusually gentle tone, as if she were coaxing a child.

"..." Chen Yu remained silent.

"Are you feeling unwell?" asked the policewoman.

"Pretty lady, you're a police officer, you should have enough judgment. I'm not sick," said Chen Yu.

"I understand. People who are sick don't like to admit it. I believe you will be healthy," nodded the policewoman.

"Okay, I admit that I'm sick," said Chen Yu.

"So don't give up on treatment," continued the policewoman.

"Fuck!" Chen Yu slammed the table and stood up, his anger rising. "That doctor is the one who's sick! His whole family is sick!"

"Calm down," said the policewoman, taking a step back. "Aggression disorder is not scary. It can be cured by adjusting your emotions."

"..." Chen Yu looked at the policewoman for a while before sighing and waving his hand weakly. "Forget it, take me back to my dorm. I want to rest for a while."

"Okay," said the policewoman, leading him to his temporary residence.

Inside the narrow dorm, he was alone. Looking at the empty ceiling, Chen Yu felt a bad premonition growing stronger. He wanted to go home, even though he was just sitting in one place. Controlling oneself was freedom, but being controlled by others was a crisis...

"..." Maybe he was really tired. Chen Yu fell asleep without realizing it. When he woke up, the noisy phone ringing woke him up.

"Hmm?" Rubbing his eyes, Chen Yu instinctively took out his phone from his pocket and answered the call.

"Hello? Little brother?" It was a familiar voice that made him more awake. He sat up and yawned. "Hello? Sister?"

The voice on the other end sounded anxious. "Are you at the police station? Why is your title on your head 'dead body'?"

Chen Yu suddenly woke up. "How did you know?!"

"I saw it on TV! The local Qing City TV station just aired it at noon! What happened to you? Did you make enemies with someone?""Oh my god? How did those sons of bitches report it so quickly?" Chen Yu's emotions, which had just calmed down, were about to flare up again.

"What's going on? I was wondering why you hadn't come home for almost a year..."

"It's a long story. Let's meet up when we have time to explain." Chen Yu interrupted, "For now, don't let our family know. Keep it from Mom."

A woman's voice spoke up, "But it was Mom who told me."

Chen Yu remained silent for a moment before saying tiredly, "Alright, I'll hang up now and call home."

Before waiting for the other end of the line to answer, Chen Yu hung up and called his mother directly.

"Hello?"

The phone was picked up quickly and Chen's Mother's voice came through, "Son, did you send money again? I told you, your father's surgery isn't urgent."

"Um...no, I didn't send money." Chen Yu hesitated, "I wanted to talk about the news that was reported today..."

"You saw it too!" Chen's Mother suddenly became excited, "It's so interesting, the unlucky guy's title is 'corpse'! He's definitely going to die now. And the victim is just like you, also in Qing City. So you and your sister need to be careful outside, don't cause trouble, and pay attention to your own safety. Don't take on dangerous part-time jobs for money."

"Mom, didn't you recognize who that person was?"

"Who?" Chen's Mother was puzzled, "Do I know them?"

"Okay, Mom. It's nothing. I'm busy, so I'll hang up now." Chen Yu hung up the phone.

"..."

"...What's with this inexplicable feeling of loss?"

With a sigh, Chen Yu lay back down and, after a while, got up and walked into the even narrower bathroom, splashing water on his face before putting on a hat to cover his "title." He then walked out of the police dormitory.

The hallway was empty.

It was pitch black outside the windows.

The windows were open for ventilation, but they were sealed with iron bars, so there was no way to escape.

With his hands in his pockets, Chen Yu stood for a while before strolling into the police station lobby.

Having studied in Qing City for two years and combining his memories with what he knew, he knew that the local TV station's noon news was replayed every night and the next morning. He decided to go and see how those damn reporters had reported it.

Did they not show his face?

In the lobby, the duty officer was an old comrade, who was drinking tea with his legs crossed. When he saw Chen Yu, he was surprised, "How did you get out?"

"My sentence is over." Chen Yu casually said, looking around the lobby and noticing two people besides the duty officer.

These two people were handcuffed and squatting in front of a radiator, watching the TV hanging in the lobby.@@novelbin@@

They were "criminal suspects."

One of them was titled "office worker."

The other was also titled "office worker."

Scratching his chin, Chen Yu walked over to the two, squatting down like them and looking up at the TV.

Seeing that it was Orange Melon Channel, he picked up the remote and switched to the local TV station channel in Qing City.

"I don't watch Orange Melon Channel." Chen Yu said.

The two "criminal suspects" beside him looked at each other and then looked Chen Yu up and down a few times without saying a word.

Changing his posture, Chen Yu noticed that it wasn't time for the news to be replayed yet, so he turned his head and struck up a conversation with the two, "Older Brother, how did you get in here?"

The slightly shorter office worker immediately took over, speaking his mind and pointing to the man next to him, "He's a rapist! He's too ashamed to say it. Trash."

"A rapist?" Chen Yu was shocked before pursing his lips, "He's really not a good person. Too disgusting."

"Who says it isn't? His parents gave birth to him, raised him through all the hardships, and sent him to school. Is this what he's supposed to do?! Fuck his mom, he's disgracing his ancestors, such a waste." The short prisoner cursed and vented his anger, wanting to distance himself from the other person, but couldn't escape as they were chained to a radiator.

He could only hatefully kick the other person.

The other person stumbled from the kick, shrinking their head and not daring to make a sound out of fear.

"Right, kick him harder." Chen Yu spat and asked, "So, Older Brother, how did you end up here?"

"Me? I'm a victim," replied the short criminal.

Chen Yu: "..."

The short criminal added, "Now, I'm an accomplice."

Chen Yu: "..."
