Chapter 559: Talking to the Elf Queen - Part 1
More than half an hour had passed before the Elf Queen's anger finally subsided.
"Do you understand what I'm saying?"
Her cold voice made Elina too afraid to move. She pursed her lips and lowered her head in sorrow.
"I understand, Sister. I'm sorry," she replied, her voice filled with guilt.
"It's good that you understand," the Elf Queen said, her tone now tinged with satisfaction.
Then, in a softer voice, she asked, "By the way, where are you now? Why couldn't we find you in the Forest of Eternal Silence? Did you manage to escape and enter human territory?"
Inside the throne room, the Elf Queen crossed her legs and leaned back against the throne's backrest.
The right side of her face rested on her palm, while her left hand held a pentagon-shaped communication crystal.
"Well…" Elina hesitated but quickly regained her composure. Had her sister discovered she was lying, things could have turned much worse.
Without further delay, she began recounting everything she had experienced over the past year.
The Elf Queen listened intently, her expression gradually shifting.
"So you really left the Forest of Eternal Silence and crossed into human territory?" She took a deep breath, trying to steady her emotions.
Even though she had suspected it, hearing it directly from Elina still caught her off guard.
It should be noted that elves were strictly forbidden from leaving the Forest of Eternal Silence.
Anyone who defied this rule would be cursed, suffering the consequences of their stubbornness.
Even the soldiers she had sent to intercept the Holy Orthodoxy merchants' convoy were only allowed to reach the outskirts—not to actually leave the forest.
Because of that, she was both puzzled and curious about how Elina had managed to do it.
In response to her question, Elina gave a small nod and said, "Yes, Sister. I really did leave the Forest of Eternal Silence, and I've visited several human cities."
Her voice carried a joy that was hard to hide.
The Elf Queen could tell that the girl must have experienced many fascinating things out there.
Curiosity stirred within her as she asked, "So, what did you do out there, Elina? Did you face any difficulties? What about the human language? You didn't have trouble understanding it, did you?"
Her voice was laced with both concern and curiosity. Elina's earlier story hadn't covered any of that, making her all the more eager to know.
"Um…" Elina scratched her cheek awkwardly.
There was no way she could admit she'd struggled, right?
If her sister found out, she'd definitely get scolded—or worse.
"Ahem! Sister, of course I'm fine. You should know your sister is smart," she said confidently, patting her big chest. "I opened a fortune-telling stall and made lots of money. Life's been good, so there's no need to worry."
Well, in truth, she had only made two gold coins during the entire year—one from Leon and one from her fortune-telling efforts.
But just yesterday, she had earned over a hundred gold coins—so technically, her words weren't lies… right?
"Really?" The Elf Queen's eyebrows rose slightly at her response.
For some reason, something inside her whispered that the girl might be lying.
But without any proof, she couldn't just accuse her outright.
With a long sigh, the Elf Queen patted her chest and said, "I'm relieved to know you're safe. By the way, when will you be coming home? The elders and everyone else are deeply concerned about you."
Elina gave a faint smile. "I'm on my way home, Sis. Don't worry. And this time… I'm bringing someone with me."
"What?" The Elf Queen's eyes widened. "Elina, what are you talking about? Are you bringing a human with you? Have you forgotten the law of our race? No outsiders are allowed into our territory. It could bring disaster upon us all."
Her voice grew low and grave. There was an ancient decree passed down from their ancestors—no member of another race, especially humans, demons, or dragons, was allowed to enter their land.
Breaking that rule could bring calamity to their entire people.
"Sister, do you think I'm that reckless?" Elina rolled her eyes. "It's the strictest law we have—of course I wouldn't break it."
A sigh of relief escaped the Elf Queen's lips. Then she asked again, "In that case… what did you mean?"
Elina glanced at Leon, who was calmly sipping his tea as he looked back at her.
"I meant that I'm bringing the one mentioned in the prophecy—the Fated One," she said bluntly.
As soon as the words left Elina's mouth, the Elf Queen's expression froze.
Her body trembled violently, and the communication tool she was holding slipped from her grasp.
"Hm? Sister? What's wrong? Why did I hear something slam?" Elina's confused voice still came through the tool.
But the Elf Queen didn't respond. Her gaze remained vacant, fixed on the ceiling of the throne room.
"The Fated One? How is that possible?"
Her mind quickly snapped back to reality. She took a deep breath, attempting to steady her racing heart.
The Fated One was a figure foretold seven thousand years ago. For generations, every Elf Queen had been raised with the knowledge of this prophecy.
A tale of a figure destined to emerge and vanquish the evil threatening the world's peace.
According to the elders gifted with foresight, this figure was prophesied to appear in this era—during her reign.
She had waited patiently for his arrival, but he had never come.
And now, Elina, who had escaped to human territory, claimed to have found him and was bringing him back to Elven land.
How could she not be shocked by this revelation?
Regaining her composure, the Elf Queen quickly grabbed her communication tool and asked, her voice steady but serious, "Elina, are you joking with me? You're not lying, are you?"
The appearance of the Fated One was of paramount importance to their people. The very problems that had plagued them could only be solved by him.
That was why she had waited with such anticipation for his arrival.
"What would I lie to you for, Sis?" Elina sighed in exasperation. "In fact, I met the Fated One a year ago. Back then…"
Since her sister didn't believe her, Elina felt compelled to recount her encounter with Leon—everything that happened, both in the past and just yesterday.
After a while, she paused, and a heavy silence settled over the Elf Queen's side.
A few seconds later, her sister's voice returned, "Alright, I believe you, Elina. But before anything else, may I speak with him?"
The nervousness and anticipation in her voice sounded almost endearing.
"Eh? You want to talk to him? But he doesn't speak Elven, Sis," Elina said, feeling embarrassed.
She suddenly remembered that she had promised to teach Leon Elven, but with Leon and Athena leaving in such a rush, she hadn't had the chance to do so.
"Don't worry. I've already learned some human language, though I'm not fluent yet. Now, hurry up and give him the communication tool," her sister urged.
Elina shook her head, glanced at Leon, and then handed him the communication tool.
"My sister wants to speak with you, young master."
Leon took the tool and was about to respond when a soft, shy voice came from the other end.
"Umm… The Fated One?"
Leon: "..."
What do you think?
