Chapter 124: Chapter 123 Night 2

Behind the rooftop water tower, supported by two sturdy vines, a hanging bed woven from dozens of slender vines hung in the middle. Little clusters of flowers bloomed at the head of the bed, wafting a light fragrance. Shao Zifeng lay calmly in the hanging bed with a faint smile on his lips.
In the serene moonlight, countless green specks floated around the hanging bed, flitting among the vines and flowers and landing on Shao Zifeng’s hair and the corners of his mouth, like a host of fireflies.
Lingling sat at the edge of the hanging bed, swinging her little feet.
Magically, each time she swung, the hanging bed swayed in response. She reached out her little hands, and as the green specks landed on them and twinkled, Lingling let out peals of light laughter.
“Yo!”
The little deer kneeling next to Shao Zifeng suddenly opened its jade-like eyes, gracefully hopped off the hanging bed, and let out a soft lowing sound.
“Hehe~”
Lingling’s little head shook like a rattle-drum, she patted her chest with her hand, signaling there was no need to wake Shao Zifeng for she was there.
The fawn hesitated for a moment, then nodded gently.
With a wave of Lingling’s hand, the green specks that filled the sky disappeared in an instant, floating into the shadows hidden in the space behind the stairs.
Big watery eyes blinked.

“Fuck, damn Abnormal Administration Bureau!” Niu Feng tugged at the rope and checked his safety equipment one more time.
Feeling the tightness around him, he spat a gob of thick phlegm onto the ground in anger and cursed under his breath, “All free and nothing to do, making me climb up buildings in the middle of the night.”
Behind him lay a… blob of an obese leopard cat. It yawned lazily, threw a languid glance at its owner, then settled down on its chubby forepaws, its facial fat spreading like liquid to completely cover its already short paws.
Niu Feng moved his obese body around, his belly fat rippling like waves. He adjusted the safety latch on his trousers and then grabbed the rope, heaving his corpulent behind up the building with a grunt.
A minute later, Niu Feng’s feet finally left the ground. His shaking hands clutched the rope, greasy beads of sweat running down his bare arms.
Looking up at the department store’s roof, a flicker of resolve lit up in Niu Feng’s small eyes.
I!
Niu•Dragon City’s most robust man•Feng, will surely conquer this department store.
After psyching himself up, Niu Feng took a deep breath, the constricting sensation on his body nearly causing him to exhale it right back out.
Looking back at the clump of fat still lazing on the ground, a smug smile appeared on his lips. Surely at this height it couldn’t catch him, it was the perfect opportunity to make it lose some weight: “Fat leopard, I’m going up first. You follow me later.”
Upon hearing its owner’s voice, the fat leopard trembled its nearly invisible ears, lifted its head in disbelief, and looked at its owner dangling from the rope. Was it being…
Abandoned?
“Meow!!”
The fat leopard let out a pitiful and hoarse roar, struggling to get up from the ground, its body fat rolling as it tumbled towards Niu Feng.
Its mouth hung open as it gasped for air, its tongue dangling at the side of its mouth, flapping up and down with its breath, saliva stretching into long strands that shimmered under the moonlight.
Niu Feng, seeing the rolling fat leopard approaching, scrambled to climb higher in panic, but he was too heavy, causing the rope to shake violently.
As it got within half a meter of Niu Feng, the leopard cat’s eyes glinted with excitement. It pushed off with its hind legs in a clumsy leap, front paws outstretched, sharp claws bared, reaching for Niu Feng.
“Damn you…” Niu Feng’s eyes widened as the rope shifted to a thread.
Rip.
Boom.
The ground trembled lightly as Niu Feng and the fat leopard lay on it, gazing listlessly at the broken rope swinging in the air.
Dust stirred up around them, veiling their sorrow.
“Fat leopard, you bastard!!”

…
“Hee~” (the third chuckle)
Lingling sat on the edge of the rooftop, witnessing the entire sequence of events with surprise and ended up laughing so hard that she rolled on the ground clutching her little belly.
The young deer poked its little head out and looked down at the two heaps of flesh below, its eyes also showing an incredulous expression.
They had been waiting for a long time and had seen no one coming up, so they took the chance to check out the enemy situation and just happened to witness everything that unfolded below.
“Wow~ look what I’ve found.”
Just then, a strange voice sounded from behind, startling both the young deer and Lingling, who quickly turned their heads.
They saw someone sitting on the rooftop of a stairwell and, not seeing Shao Zifeng, they breathed a sigh of relief and curiously turned their attention to the newcomer.
The man sitting on the rooftop of the stairwell had medium-length hair and was dressed in tight leather clothes, adorned with clinking metallic ornaments. He was juggling two daggers in his hands, and beside him crouched a dog-shaped mutant creature.
Because he was backlit by the moonlight, only his silhouette and the metallic luster were vaguely visible.
Lingling curiously watched the man play with the daggers in his hand.
As they looked at the long-haired man, he was also sizing them up.
When his gaze swept over the young, snow-white deer, he didn’t pay much attention; it was common knowledge that albinos in a group were usually worthless.
But when he saw Lingling floating beside the young deer, his pupils shrank suddenly, and his eyes revealed greed and ecstasy, “What great luck, I didn’t expect to encounter an elemental being from the legends.”
The man’s fingers danced, and the two daggers moved between them like fluttering butterflies.
Lingling placed a little hand over her mouth, watching his movements with interest, showing no sign of fear.
When the daggers stopped, the man felt a bit embarrassed.
What’s the matter, are you scared or what? Give me some reaction, at least.
Even if you’re not scared, where’s the person hiding in the shadows? Shouldn’t they come out to stop me?
“Heehee!”
Seeing the man stop moving, Lingling immediately got upset, flew up to his eye level, and began pointing and clamoring at him with her little hand.
The young deer took the opportunity to slowly back away, ensuring that Shao Zifeng remained undiscovered.
The man, looking at the elemental being under the moonlight, licked his dagger with his tongue frenetically as he could no longer control the greed in his heart, “Such a beautiful creature, since no one’s coming out, you’re mine now. Gray Fox, attack!”
“Hmm!”
The dog-shaped mutant creature by his side stood up, its grayish fur slightly fluffy, and it whipped its thick tail, revealing itself to be a fox.
Gray Fox’s claws popped out, swirling with a cyan glow, and tiny whirlwinds formed beside them as they moved.
Its slender fox eyes flickered coldly and transformed into a shadow.
Whoosh!
Six faint cyan claw marks appeared out of nowhere, crisscrossing towards Lingling in midair.
Lingling crossed her hands, the luster in her eyes shifting, and a semi-transparent green shield emerged, blocking the attack.
Crack!
A crisp sound followed, and cracks formed on Lingling’s Wood Defense.
Gray Fox’s slender eyes gleamed with cunning as it crouched, its claws once again shining with a faint cyan glow.
Pop!
The Wood Defense shattered, but before Gray Fox could react, the ground burst, sending pebbles flying, and several vines shot out like snakes, tightly winding around Gray Fox’s limbs.
Lingling floated in midair, swinging a thorny whip in her hand, looking down at the entangled Gray Fox.
What do you think?
