My Pet Beast is Super Fearsome

Chapter 71 - 70: Poisonous Milk?

Chapter 71: Chapter 70: Poisonous Milk?

Shao Zifeng carried the little deer in his arms, his steps unsteady, his complexion pale, walking through the school with huge dark circles under his eyes.

The kind seen on many a sporty person.

Groups of young ladies cast glances his way, covering their mouths to hide bell-like laughter, as the campus buzzed with the vibrancy of youth.

Recalling last night’s ordeal made Shao Zifeng feel a surge of suicidal impulse, and as he looked down at the little deer nibbling on his clothing, with small movements of its mouth, he felt an urge to cry without tears.

All night long, the little deer had been eating, and the sound of its chewing in the darkness was magnified in the silent night, echoing in his ears like whispers of a devil.

Today, no matter what, he had to find Chen Yixin to finalize the contract issue, otherwise, if every night was like this, when would he ever sleep?

The shorter plants in the room had all been nibbled bald by the little deer, it was truly terrifying.

Sensing Shao Zifeng’s gaze, the little deer stopped its chewing, turned its moist eyes to meet his gaze for a moment, then nuzzled his chest with its antlerless little head, before skillfully grasping the folds on his sleeve with its mouth and started moving its mouth again.

The sequence of actions was truly fluid and practiced.

“Morning, Shao fellow, long time no see.”

At that moment, a familiar yet unfamiliar ordinary voice rang out from behind him.

Shao Zifeng turned around, pulling a tired smile across his face, “You too, morning.”

Looking at that ordinary, plain face, Shao Zifeng’s mind wandered a bit.

This person seemed so familiar; where had he seen him before? @@novelbin@@

“Oh.”

The man looked at the weary Shao Zifeng in surprise, then down at the little deer he was holding: “Is this your pet beast?”

“Yes…”

“Well, that’s pretty good, Shao fellow. Take good care of it.”

The ordinary-looking man didn’t wait for Shao Zifeng to finish speaking and, with a slight nod, passed by him.

Shao Zifeng stood there, letting the morning breeze blow on him, his sleep-deprived mind struggling to remember.

What did the man just now look like?

It’s all so vague.

Well, never mind, he’s probably not anyone important.

Shao Zifeng slightly shook his head and continued walking towards Chen Yixin’s research lab.

Standing at the door of the lab, he made a phone call, and before long, Chen Yixin appeared in front of Shao Zifeng with dark circles under the same eyes, her hair messy, and a crumpled white lab coat thrown on haphazardly.

She looked every part the stereotypical homebody.

“Morning, what’s up?” Chen Yixin greeted him with a yawn, her eyes half-closed and with a hint of dissatisfaction in her voice.

This was the second time Shao Zifeng had disturbed her sleep.

“Morning.” Shao Zifeng lifted the little deer in his arms, indicating the reason for his visit.

Chen Yixin looked at the snow-white deer, a hint of surprise in her eyes: “Albinism, a genetic defect?”

Shao Zifeng shook his head.

“Then it’s an individual mutation?” Chen Yixin thought of another possibility and asked tentatively.

Pets with individual mutations often possessed a variety of strange abilities that differed from collective evolution; some even underwent slight changes in appearance, so it wasn’t surprising that Chen Yixin guessed in that direction.

Shao Zifeng shook his head again.

“If you don’t want to say, never mind, just come in,” said Chen Yixin with a nonchalant shrug, following up with a big yawn as she pushed open the door and walked into the lab.

The lab was empty, and following Chen Yixin into a small room full of instruments, Shao Zifeng looked around but didn’t see the Contract Room.

“Stop looking, there’s no Contract Room here. This will do. I really don’t know how you got through college, not understanding even this basic fact,” Chen Yixin said with a scoff, tossing something to Shao Zifeng.

Catching what Chen Yixin threw at him, the little deer, unsteady, nearly fell, but thankfully it kept its grasp on Shao Zifeng’s sleeve. Dangling in midair with all four legs, it looked at Shao Zifeng, dumbfounded and swaying.

“Sorry, sorry.” He quickly embraced the small deer in his arms, patting its soft body.

The little deer didn’t have any particular reaction as if it hadn’t almost fallen just now, its small mouth moving at a leisurely pace.

“Hahaha, this little guy is really interesting.” Yixing watched the scene and suddenly found this calm little creature quite cute.

He opened his palm, and in the center lay a round pendant, a white jade base etched with a mysterious Array in gold and red.

“This is the Mobile Contract Array,” Yixing said as she walked over to Zifeng and poked the little deer’s chubby cheeks with her finger.

The little deer glanced at her and continued minding its own business.

“With something so convenient, why does the school still have a dedicated Contract Room?” Zifeng asked earnestly.

Yixing withdrew her gaze from the little deer and looked at him strangely, “You don’t know the value of this thing?”

Zifeng thought for a moment, the original owner of the body seemed to have never come across it, and then shook his head honestly.

“I really don’t know what you’ve been learning. Just one Mobile Contract Array costs 200,000. Do you think how many ordinary families can afford this for their kids? Alright, enough talk, let’s start,” Yixing waved her hand impatiently. She had been up most of the night and was nearly dead tired; she was in no mood to give Zifeng a crash course on basics.

Zifeng, hearing this, said no more and hung the Array around his neck.

With the experience from last time, he carried a small knife with him. Making a cut on his finger, blood instantly appeared bright red. Without hesitation, he reached out towards the little deer’s forehead.

The little deer shuddered all over at the sight of blood. It quickly spat out the cloth in its mouth and took the offered finger directly into its mouth.

Zifeng felt his finger enveloped in warmth, followed by a tingling sensation at the wound. He couldn’t help but shiver.

As their eyes met, the little deer spat out his finger and nonchalantly turned its head away.

Zifeng looked at his finger in disbelief. Where was the wound? And the skin where the little deer had held it was even whiter.

“Oh, it’s a Healing creature. Let me try.” Yixing, who was initially groggy, perked up at this scene and took the knife from Zifeng’s hand. Without hesitation, she slashed toward her own wrist.

Zifeng was flabbergasted; this woman was brutal toward herself—last time testing with her body and now drawing the blade against her own flesh.

How terrifying.

As the blade, with a hint of cold light, passed over her wrist, a translucent energy shield appeared there. The knife was instantly repelled.

“Mmmh”

Beibei, the fairy with two white jade shells on her back, walked out from behind Yixing. She rubbed her eyes, looking confused, seeming to have just woken up.

“Beibei, you don’t need to protect me now.”

“Mmmh?” Fairy Beibei cocked her little head to the side and stepped aside.

After calming the mutated Fairy Beibei, Yixing took a deep breath and once again slashed at herself…

A stark, blood-red wound appeared on her snowy wrist, gushing blood.

This woman had actually cut her vein.

In just a short time, Yixing’s complexion became somewhat pale, yet her eyes held a trace of fervor.

One had to admit, she indeed possessed a commendable spirit for research.

“Little deer, Healing Fragrance,” Zifeng anxiously called out, fearful for her safety.

“Meow~” The little deer lightly stepped down from his arms and stood firmly on the ground.

Raising its small head, it let out a light cry. Deer antler phantoms appeared over its bulging forehead, emitting a hazy, mist-like green light that spread out from the deer to its surroundings.

A strange fragrance filled the room, rejuvenating the spirit.

Specks of green light gathered at Yixing’s wound, rapidly repairing the flesh and tissue.

“Ah~”

As Zifeng was closely observing the wound, Yixing suddenly let out an alluring moan.

She braced herself against the table behind her, eyes rolling back, legs clenched together, looking as if she might collapse at any moment.

Zifeng was confounded. What was this?!

Poisoned milk?
