Chapter 88 - 87: Is It So Passionate?
Chapter 88: Chapter 87: Is It So Passionate?
“Hurry… hurry up and go, I’m about to lose control.” Luo Feng’s suppressed and hoarse voice came,
breaking the delicate atmosphere between the two individuals exchanging glances.
Shao Zifeng’s heart jolted, and he quickly turned his head, only to see amid the rolling flames the Nine-tailed Demon Fox’s tails flickering in and out of visibility, its eyes, which had returned to normal, were once again tinged with a hint of blood-red.
The sea of fire concealed Luo Feng’s figure, but his suppressed and pained shouts were sharply audible.
Shao Zifeng’s hand, gripping the hidden blade, tightened slightly; if all else failed, he would have to resort to this.
Although it had been nurtured for a long time since its last unsheathing, whether it could inflict damage on a seventh-tier mystical beast like the Nine-tailed Demon Fox, he honestly had no confidence at all.
...
He turned to look at Yang Qian, wanting to ask for his opinion.
Huh?
What’s with that confident smile on your face?
Why had this uncle become inexplicably weird since earlier on? Could it be that he was so happy about the Giant Rhinoceros’s recovery that he had gone deliriously happy?
Noticing his gaze, Yang Qian patted the Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros: “Do you know why they assigned me and Luo Feng to the same post?” As he undid the buttons of his Abnormal Administration Bureau uniform, revealing a tight-fitting beer belly beneath his white shirt, his face carried a trace of smugness: “That’s because, in a third-tier city like this, only I can suppress his Nine-tailed Demon Fox.”
“But didn’t you just say you believed Luo Feng could handle it on his own?” Shao Zifeng asked, puzzled.
Yang Qian’s face stiffened. Is this kid terrible at conversation, or what? The Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros was nearly dead just now; what could I have done aside from trusting him?
He chuckled dryly, ignoring Shao Zifeng, and stroked the Giant Rhinoceros tenderly: “Old pal, it’s all on you now!”
“Moo!”
The Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros gave Yang Qian an assuring look, lowered its head, scuffed the ground with its foreleg, then charged with its heavy limbs toward the midst of the flames.
Watching the Giant Rhinoceros’s imposing figure and feeling the ground tremble, Shao Zifeng couldn’t help but feel a little envious.
It looks really reliable.
Then he glanced at Qiuqiu lying on the ground, the little guy sneakily doing who knows what.
Sigh, who knows when it will grow up.
Qiuqiu turned its head alertly, its small paws tightly clasped in front of its chest.
Someone wants to snatch my treasure.
After scanning the surroundings and noting nothing unusual, Qiuqiu breathed a sigh of relief, then turned back to admire the nasty teeth it was hugging.
The Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros picked up speed, its massive head parting the layers of flame, a white gleam emitting from its broken horn like a heavy tank moving with unstoppable force, ramming toward the Nine-tailed Demon Fox.
“Roar!”
The Nine-tailed Demon Fox, seeing this, lashed its nine whip-like tails frantically, manipulating clumps of flames to smash at the Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros, the surrounding fire rolling and forming a wall in an attempt to block its path.
The Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros charged head-down, the white light on its broken horn growing more blinding, ramming through fire walls with reckless abandon; fireballs burst upon its stone-hard armor, leaving scorch marks but failing to harm it in the least.
The Nine-tailed Demon Fox, out of breath and still struggling with Luo Feng for dominance, couldn’t unleash its full strength and could only watch helplessly as the Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros drew ever closer, emitting sounds of impotent fury.
“Boom”
The Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros’s massive head collided fiercely with the Nine-tailed Demon Fox’s body.
The flames that were burning around them seemed to pause, and time itself felt as though it came to a stop at that moment.
“Swoosh!”
The Nine-tailed Demon Fox’s blood-colored eyes widened as its body arched backward; it was sent flying and tumbling through the flames like skipping stones on water, blowing a hole through the roaring fire behind it, which took a long time to close up again.
It only stopped when it crashed into a tall building, which swayed and collapsed instantly, bricks and stones tumbling down and burying the Nine-tailed Demon Fox beneath them, kicking up billows of dust.
“Now’s the time, use Quicksand Purgatory and Rock Barrier,” Yang Qian commanded with a wave of his hand, his voice filled with the fervor of a teenager.
Shao Zifeng covered his face, and with a twist of his cap, he was the perfect older version of a wise man.
“So passionate, huh.”
“Mor!!!”
After many years, he heard his master’s familiar command once again, and that surging passion returned to the Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros’s body.
The blood, was ignited!
It lifted its forelimbs high and stomped fiercely on the ground, causing the fiery earth to crack around the rhinoceros, like spiderwebs spreading out in all directions.
The bricks and stones burying the Nine-tailed Demon Fox instantly turned to sand and scattered, the ground swiftly writhing like a pair of giant hands, entangling the Nine-tailed Demon Fox.
In Shao Zifeng’s view, the Nine-tails struggled desperately, but to no avail, as the quicksand entangled its neck and slowly began to devour it.
The Nine-tailed Demon Fox let out a furious roar, its bloodshot eyes fiercely fixed on the others, revealing undeniable hatred.
But before it could finish its roar, the ground moved again, a stream of quicksand wrapping around its head like a serpent, flowing into the Nine-tails’ fanged maw.
At this point, the Nine-tailed Demon Fox was completely subdued, it fell heavily to the ground and was wrapped up like a mummy.
“Follow me.” Seeing the Giant Rhinoceros had subdued the Nine-tailed Demon Fox, Yang Qian called out to Shao Zifeng and rushed along the path left by the rhinoceros.
As the Nine-tailed Demon Fox was subdued, the boiling sea of fire began to die down.
The Blood-sucking Tarantulas on the perimeter started to shriek excitedly, uneasily jostling one another, just waiting for the moment when the sea of fire would disappear completely, ready to tear them all to shreds.
Shao Zifeng, carrying Qiuqiu, followed Yang Qian towards Luo Feng.
Seeing them approaching, the Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros once again raised its front legs high and stamped heavily on the ground.
Shao Zifeng was suddenly tossed high into the air by the shockwave.
“F*ck…”
Shao Zifeng wished he could transform into a Zaunite and go on a furious rampage.
He felt like a small boat tossing in the wind and waves, moving up and down.
Moments later, the shockwave subsided, and Shao Zifeng only felt his legs go weak and his head dizzy.
“Crack!”
A long column of rock burst from the ground, with pebbles and dust falling from it.
“Hiss!”
Having lost the control of the Nine-tailed Demon Fox, the surrounding flames quickly dissipated.
Hundreds of Blood-sucking Tarantulas with blood-red eyes roared as they brandished their sharp forelimbs and charged this way.
Staring at the dense swarm of spiders, Shao Zifeng pressed his hand on the handle of his concealed blade, poised for battle, but before he could act, a dense sound echoed around him once more. @@novelbin@@
The ground trembled slightly, and rock pillars sprouted up like bamboo shoots after a rain, joining together to form a giant fortress, protecting the three of them inside.
After the final rock pillar closed in, the surrounding sea of fire was completely extinguished.
“Mor!”
“Woof~”
The Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros, left outside, let out a thunderous roar, followed by the sounds of intense combat.
All of this happened so quickly that Shao Zifeng couldn’t react; his hand on the knife handle, he looked at the towering Rock Barrier before him, his heart fluctuating wildly.
“Luo Feng, wake up.”
Yang Qian stepped forward, helped the unconscious Luo Feng to his feet, and pressed on his philtrum.
He patiently waited a while, but Luo Feng showed no signs of awakening.
Yang Qian sighed and took a syringe out of his pocket.
What do you think?
