Chapter 94: Chapter 93: Breakthrough (Part 4)
“Hiss!”
The Blood-sucking Tarantula lunged forward with its ferocious mouthparts agape, its eight blood-red eyes cold and frenzied, emitting a distinctive, raspy sound unpleasant to the ears of everyone around.
The Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros looked down on the attacking Blood-sucking Tarantula, disdainfully tilting its huge head and charging forward.
“Puff”
Green liquid mixed with dismembered parts stuck to the rhino’s head, which slightly shook to fling off the filth.
Along the way, this was not the first creature that slipped through the net, handled cleanly and efficiently by the rhino.
...
It was like an emotionless bulldozer, moving forward with steady and powerful steps, the Dancing Ape and the protectors flanking its sides, their movements concise and swift, soon drenched in green liquid.
Gradually, Shao Zifeng had gotten used to the jolting, his legs tightly clamping around the rhino’s spine, moving up and down to its rhythm, although his legs had started to ache from the prolonged strain.
Qiuqiu, having forcibly enhanced its Dragon Wings, started to feel drowsy after the initial surge of excitement, laying on Shao Zifeng’s chest, its tiny claws gripping tightly onto his collar, squinting, nodding off little by little, looking silly and cute.
Shao Zifeng saw its little antics and put it back into the pet space.
Throughout the breakout, the distance to that tall building had gradually shortened, and the group could now see the flickering flames below and the charred remains within the flames. @@novelbin@@
“Hiss!”
The burning flames could not stop the madness of the Blood-sucking Tarantulas, who stepped on the corpses of their companions and fiercely climbed the crumbling walls.
Fireballs periodically fell from the rooftop, dragging long tails and upon hitting the tarantulas, erupted into flames and plummeted to the ground, igniting with crackling sounds.
The breakout plan was progressing smoothly, everything moving in a favorable direction, and they just needed to wait until tomorrow’s reinforcements to quickly subdue this disaster.
“Who’s that kid on the rooftop?” Yang Qian squinted, sizing up the rooftop with the light produced when using a skill.
Chen Zhenglong supported Luo Feng, who continued to slide down due to the jolting, although internally disdained, Chen was thoroughly protective of Luo Feng.
Looking up, he saw several figures swaying on a nearby rooftop.
“Report to the director, the leader of this Dragon City Special Management team is their major, his name seems to be Wang Jinsong. He just retired from the military not long ago, a reliable young man,” recalled Chen Zhenglong seriously.
“Hmm, transfer him to our city bureau after this, groom him to take over your position as I will eventually retire,” Yang Qian said with a smile. Veterans like him naturally felt a kinship and trusted soldiers freshly out from the military more.
At these words, Chen Zhenglong was taken aback, momentarily confused, “What about me, director… if he becomes the major?”
Yang Qian, irritated by the reply, thought, Is this guy’s head filled with wood? Do I really need to spell it out? He then said gruffly, “You go home and sell sweet potatoes.”
Shao Zifeng glanced back at a bewildered Chen Zhenglong and almost burst into laughter.
Brother Chen really was too straightforward.
…
“Roar!”
The Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros charged through the Blood-sucking Tarantulas blocking the road, panting heavily.
The building harboring the Dragon City Special Management was now in sight, but it was approaching its limit.
As the distance closed, two groups of tarantulas began to merge, continuously launching attacks from all sides.
Though only third-tier in strength, their sheer numbers made it difficult for fifth-tier pets like the protectors and the Dancing Ape to manage, briefly losing focus could give the spiders a chance to strike.
“Whimper!”
The protector’s gaze flashed, its body vanished instantly, reappearing not far behind Chen Zhenglong, its front claws glowing with a faint purple as it swooped down a tarantula attempting a sneak attack, pinning it fiercely to the ground, and using its few remaining teeth, it tore and bit the tarantula’s head.
The Dancing Ape wasn’t idle either, swinging its huge fists like a whirlwind, repelling several tarantulas. The immense force of the blows made it stagger back a few steps, gasping for breath heavily.
Just then, Shao Zifeng felt a sharp pain in his calf. A Blood-sucking Tarantula had hidden under the belly of the Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros and seized the moment when both beasts were engaged to climb up, its forelimbs like blades stabbing into Shao Zifeng’s leg.
The deep crimson blood trickled down its forelimbs, exciting the Blood-sucking Tarantula even further.
Its spider eyes flickered as it opened its disgusting mouthparts and bit towards him, its viscous saliva stretching into thin threads that trembled continuously with each breath.
Shao Zifeng felt a shock in his heart as he held onto the hidden blade, instinctively delivering a precise chop to the spider’s eyes.
The sudden chop caused the Blood-sucking Tarantula’s head to twist as its mouthparts heavily gnawed on the Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros, and several saliva-covered teeth were knocked out.
“Hiss!”
“Zifeng!”
“Shao Zifeng!”
The Blood-sucking Tarantula’s hiss drew the attention of the two men who were greatly startled, and Chen Zhenglong hurriedly reached out, trying to pull Shao Zifeng behind him.
“Tss!”
A ball of flame condensed in Shao Zifeng’s palm, and as he reached down, he grabbed towards the spider leg embedded in his calf; the moment his palm touched the spider leg, a waft of foul-smelling white smoke arose.
“Hiss!”
The Blood-sucking Tarantula threw back its head and howled pitifully, its crimson spider eyes glinting more ferociously as it lunged at Shao Zifeng again.
Seizing the moment, Shao Zifeng let go of the spider leg, switched hands on the hidden blade, and aimed for the connection between its head and body.
This was a weakness Shao Zifeng had identified in the Blood-sucking Tarantula after multiple encounters: when it extended its neck to tear and bite, the connection between its head and body would separate, revealing a thin layer of membrane.
But its biting movements were quick, and the gap that appeared was very small; if not timed well, it was likely to stab the head of the Blood-sucking Tarantula instead.
“Puff.”
The blade met slight resistance before plunging deeply, but that was not all; Shao Zifeng forcefully pulled it out, spraying bright green blood all over his face.
The foul-smelling blood seemed to stimulate Shao Zifeng, who forcefully kicked the spider with his injured leg.
Thump.
The body of the Blood-sucking Tarantula stiffened, making a deflating moan as its spider legs went limp and slid onto the ground with Shao Zifeng’s kick.
His own deep crimson blood followed, unabatingly flowing downwards.
Watching the Blood-sucking Tarantula gradually engulfed by the swarm of spiders, Shao Zifeng felt dizzy, letting go of the Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros’s hand weakly, panting heavily as his body seemed to drain of strength.
The surrounding sounds of fighting and screams grew more distant, as if he was about to fall into an abyss.
His body swayed continuously and tilted to one side.
Just then, a powerful hand firmly grasped his shoulder, and a familiar voice sounded in his ear.
“Zifeng, Zifeng, wake up.”
Shao Zifeng shook his head, forcing himself to gather his spirits, but the dizziness in his mind did not lessen.
He struggled to open his eyes, his gaze somewhat confused.
Surrounded by mutant creatures, the blue light points in his eyes had been continuously spinning; initially somewhat irritable, he had gotten used to it over time.
But as his gaze swept over the rooftop, the normally orderly spinning blue light points suddenly became chaotic, wildly crisscrossing each other.
With a hint of purplish-red gleam, Shao Zifeng, who was a beat slow to react, suddenly shivered.
“Boom!”
The rooftop suddenly exploded, sending countless fragments flying in all directions.
What do you think?
