Chapter 101 : The Throne's Burden
—
[Ding! System Notification: Good news for the host! This pocket dimension can be fused with your Void Domain, increasing the land within it. Do you want to refine this pocket dimension?]
[Yes/No]
System Note: The system advises that the host should grant control of the Forsaken Gate to his little sister.
So, the system also wants me to give this ghost army to Nima. Alright, system, I want to refine this pocket dimension. But how can I transfer control of the gate to Nima?
[Ding! The host simply needs to sit on the Stone Throne and focus his spiritual power on the throne. The system will handle the rest.]
[For now, the Forsaken gate will be placed in the Void Domain along with the pocket dimension. However, the host's little sister, Nima, cannot control the gate yet. She must reach at least Level-B cultivation. That said, she can still command all the ghosts who have already pledged their loyalty.]
Alright, I understand. I'll refine the pocket dimension now and grant her control of the Forsaken Gate once she reaches Level-B cultivation.
Kent sat on the cold stone throne, the weight of ancient power pressing against him. He focused all his spiritual powers on the throne.
At first, it felt like nothing. He was simply sitting in a chair—albeit a chair that looked like it belonged in a nightmare. But then, slowly, the energy around him shifted.
The phantom ghostly figure who had guided him here remained standing in the shadows, watching silently. The air seemed to hum, the very ground vibrating with the ancient force which was now awakening.
Kent's eyes glowed faintly as he reached out with his senses, trying to grasp the power now flowing into him. It was as if the entire dimension was alive, breathing, and it was all focusing on him.
"What's happening?" he muttered to himself.
The elite disciple stepped forward. "The Throne of the Forsaken binds its power to the one who claims it. You are now its Warden, its ruler, its master."
Kent's pulse quickened as the energy surged through him. It wasn't like anything he had ever felt before—it was neither spiritual energy nor divine. It was something older, darker, a force that seemed to transcend the realms of life and death.
He clenched his fists. The sensation was overwhelming. But then, something clicked.
His vision flashed with images of the throne's ancient history—the rise and fall of empires, the suffering of countless souls trapped within this forsaken realm, and the power of the Warden passed down through the ages. Each ruler used the throne to extend their will across the pocket dimension and bend it to their desires.
"And now…It was his turn."
Kent stood abruptly, shaking off the eerie weight pressing on his shoulders. He couldn't let this power consume him, not like it had with the past rulers.
But he knew one thing: this place could be a weapon.
"I don't want to be a ruler," Kent said, his voice resolute. "I'm here for a mission. I'm not going to be some overlord of the dead. It will be my little sister."
The phantom spectre didn't move but spoke with a deep, rumbling voice. "The Throne of the Forsaken does not accept refusal. You are bound to it, and it to you."
Kent exhaled sharply, his thoughts racing. "Great. It's just what I need. A cursed chair that won't let go."
As if in response, the ground beneath him rumbled, and a deep voice echoed from the throne, "You have claimed the power of the Forsaken. Use it wisely, or face its wrath."
Kent clenched his jaw, eyes narrowing. "I'm not looking for power, but I will use it to get what I need. My system can transfer this power to Nima. I don't need to worry about this warning." Stay tuned with My Virtual Library Empire
The phantom ghost stepped forward, its ethereal face twisting into something resembling a grin. "Then use it, Lord Kent. Command us. We shall obey."
[Ding! System Notification: The pocket Dimension refinement was successfully completed. Merging with Void Domain…]
A deep hum resonated through the air as the throne beneath Kent pulsed with energy. The surrounding darkness seemed to ripple, stretching outward as if the dimension itself was unravelling. He felt it—the shift, the pull, the sheer weight of space itself being rewritten.
Then, all at once, the sensation stopped.
[Ding! Pocket Dimension successfully merged with Void Domain. The land within the Void Domain has expanded significantly. New structures and functions have been unlocked.]
Kent exhaled as the throne's oppressive presence faded slightly. He reached out with his senses and could feel it—his Void Domain had changed.
It wasn't just an empty expanse anymore; it had grown, taking on the characteristics of the forsaken realm, reshaping itself to accommodate the power he had just absorbed.
Images flashed through his mind—a ruined citadel now standing at the heart of his domain, dark mountains rising along the horizon, a swirling abyss where the Forsaken Gate resided. It was no longer just a void. It was becoming something more. The only thing missing is light. He needs to create a sun and a water source to accommodate living things.
[Ding! New functions unlocked:
Warden's Citadel: A fortress serving as the Void Domain's command centre.
Forsaken Gate Control: The host can transfer partial command once a suitable wielder reaches the required level.
Phantom Army Summoning: The host can now call upon spectral warriors within the Void Domain. Their strength depends on the host's power. 'System advice not to use this function.'
Dimensional Stability: The Void Domain can now maintain its form more efficiently.]
Kent's brows furrowed. This was more than he expected. He wasn't just expanding his domain—he was building a stronghold, an actual realm of his own.
"So the system really wasn't joking about me becoming a ruler," he muttered. Will I become a god if I put living things here?.... For now, let's not think about that. I need to take one step at a time.
The phantom spectre bowed deeply. "It is as it should be, Warden. The Forsaken never die; they merely wait. And now, they wait for your command."
Kent crossed his arms, exhaling. "I told you, I'm not here to rule over the dead."
[Ding! Reminder: The Forsaken Gate remains in the Void Domain. Host's little sister cannot take full control yet but can command the ghosts who have already sworn loyalty.]
Kent rubbed the bridge of his nose. "So basically, I need to babysit the ghosts who are present here."
The system, of course, remained silent.
"Well, whatever," he said, shaking off the unease creeping up his spine. "If I have to control this power for now, I might as well use it properly."
His gaze turned toward the Forsaken Gate, now towering ominously within his Void Domain. It was no longer just a relic of the past. It was his to command, his to wield.
And soon, it would belong to Nima.
But until then…
Suddenly, a swirling vortex of light appeared before him, and the phantom spectre bowed deeply. "The souls of the Forsaken are at your command, Master."
Kent stood tall, his confidence building. He wasn't going to let the throne control him. He would use it to gain what he needed—freedom.
He reached out, and the ghosts began to move as one, their forms flickering and shifting. They were his and Nima's army now. He could feel their energy flowing through him, a vast network of lost souls willing to do his bidding.
"Alright," Kent muttered. "Let's see how far we can take this. I have great ideas for earning SP with this ghost squad."
Meanwhile, Nima had been busy training her servants, commanding them to battle the mindless ghost warriors who continued to appear. Her servants grew more powerful with every battle, absorbing the souls of the fallen enemies. But Nima had an idea.
"If I can level up my servant, maybe we can leave this place sooner," she murmured to herself.
She was determined. She didn't know that they could leave anytime. Kent just needs to think about it.
Raka and Lumo were growing stronger with each battle, and she could feel the momentum building within her. Her cultivation had reached Rank-D (mid), and it was a massive leap forward. With the spirits' help, she could refine herself further. But the question was: could she surpass even the strongest in this forsaken gate dimension?
Nima's servants launched a powerful attack, slashing through several of the ghosts. The energy pulsed with each strike, the spirits slowly merging with her servant's aura.
But then, a peculiar energy caught her attention.
It was faint at first—a whisper of power. It was coming from the direction of the throne.
Her eyes narrowed. Something was happening there. "Kent… is he in danger?" I need to check on him. I need to go and save my big brother. Kent wait... I am comming to save you."
What do you think?
