Chapter 792: 792, Xiao Yebai, do you love me?

Chapter 792: 792, Xiao Yebai, do you love me?

Mo Weiyi glanced at Mr. Shi who was beside him and smiled, “It’s not exactly related to this.”

Old Master Mo’s face turned cold.

Not exactly related?

That means it still has something to do with it.

Mo Weiyi said, “I just came to realize something after what happened last night. You can’t force love, that’s why I want to divorce him.”

“Fine.” Surprisingly, Old Master Mo didn’t try to persuade him at all. He nodded and said, “Whatever you want to do, Grandpa will listen to you.”

...

In face of his purposeful favor, Mo Weiyi didn’t show much reaction, just picked up her bag and said, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave first.”

Shi Kang quickly opened the door for her.

Mo Weiyi walked out of the ward, completely ignoring the man standing in the corridor outside. She didn’t even change her expression and left straightaway.

A few steps later, she heard Shi Kang’s voice from behind, “Mr. Xiao, the old master wants to see you.”

Mo Weiyi didn’t turn her head back.

**

She returned home at five in the afternoon.

She went to another private hospital for a check-up after leaving the hospital.

Then she went to Yurui Law Firm and let Rong An collect all her personal belongings and resign.

Lastly, she visited a style salon.

During all these, her cell phone was off and Rong An was always with her. Xiao Yebai didn’t call again.

Finally, after completing all of these, Rong An drove her back to Lishui Bay Villa.

The sky was dim, with heavy clouds hanging down. It hadn’t rained for a while in early May in Nancheng, and the air was stiflingly hot.

The villa’s gate was wide open. In the living room, the man was sitting, waiting on the large sofa.

He was wearing the same outfit he wore at the hospital in the morning. Apart from a few wrinkles, there were no differences.

The light in the living room wasn’t on and there were no housekeepers around. He didn’t say a word. At first glance, a dark figure was seated on the sofa.

Somewhat strange.

Mo Weiyi glanced at him and said to Rong An, “You can go to your room first.”

Rong An walked expressionlessly into the guest room with a pile of things.

After the door closed, the living room fell silent again.

Mo Weiyi changed into slippers and took her purse to sit directly across the sofa, “Don’t you have work? You’re home at this time?”

Her voice was very neutral.

And there was not any emotion displayed on her face.

However, Xiao Yebai unconsciously furrowed his brow when he saw Mo Weiyi. He asked, “I waited for you for an hour and a half. Where did you go?”

“What were you waiting for me for?”

“Tian Ye was beaten up at the hospital.”

Despite having been mentally prepared, Mo Weiyi was taken aback for a moment.

She thought he would talk about the divorce, or Xu Jing, or perhaps he would have prepared some explanation after receiving a call from Gu Pingting or Zhan Yao. But what she never expected was…

He said that Tian Ye was beaten up.

“So what?” Mo Weiyi lifted her head, and a smirk crept onto her red lips, “Was she beaten to death? Or disabled? Did she come crying to you?”

“Mo Weiyi.” Xiao Yebai asked her, “What did you say to Grandpa at the hospital at noon?”

Facing this questioning, Mo Weiyi felt like her breath was taken away. It took her a while before she could find her voice and said, “When your woman got beaten up, the first thing you do is blaming me? Isn’t it your fault for not protecting her and getting her into this mess?”

Xiao Yebai stood up and walked to her.

Looking down from a height.

Observing and judging.

Mo Weiyi leaned slightly back, folding her arms around herself, maintaining eye contact with him.

Their gazes locked.

In the end, it was Xiao Yebai who spoke first. “I’ve told you, I have no relationship with her.”

There it was again, that pallid tone.

Yet, Mo Weiyi began to laugh. “So, if it doesn’t concern you, why did you come questioning me? She was beaten but that’s because she degraded herself yesterday. If she hasn’t slept with you, why did she come to me spouting accusations and slapped me? She was seen by Uncle Shi who told grandpa. You thought that I deliberately spilled this secret and that I let grandpa have her beaten? Xiao Yebai!”

The color abruptly drained from Mo Weiyi’s face as her voice heightened. “I see it now, you keep insisting that you have no relation with Tian Ye because in your eyes, there’s essentially no difference between her and me, right? There’s no disparity at all, is there? If it wasn’t for the fact that I climbed into your bed when I was eighteen, and grandpa compelling you to take responsibility for me, would you have ever thought about marrying me?”

The man’s pupils suddenly contracted and his face flickered with countless emotions. But in the end, they all fell into extreme coldness.

He said, “Zhan Yao mentioned that you had contacted Gu Pingting.”

“Finally admitted it?” Mo Weiyi laughed again. “Yes, Miss Gu already told me everything. I also know everything that you’ve done.”

She lowered her head, reached for her tote bag, and pulled out a jewelry box. “This is the one you had Gu Pingting exchange, right?”

The living room fell silent.

Until Mo Weiyi dropped the jewelry box to the floor.

With a “bang,” the box broke open, the necklace bounced out, and the fake crystal beads shattered all over the floor, rolling about with a tinkling sound.

“Speak!” Mo Weiyi said, her voice trembling. “Did you have Gu Pingting purposely exchange it?”

Xiao Yebai looked at her, his thin lips parting to utter a single word, “Yes.”

Barely had the words left his mouth, when Mo Weiyi stood up.

With a “slap,” the man’s face veered slightly to the side.

Mo Weiyi gripped her numb palm and further questioned, “Lili said, that custom-made outfit you ordered has a matching necklace. But yesterday, you asked her to withdraw the necklace, didn’t you?”

Xiao Yebai didn’t reply. He dropped his gaze and slowly made contact with his cheeks using his tongue.

Mo Weiyi continued, “And then you deliberately wore my mother’s jade necklace intending to switch it and let my aunt wear it. You know I’d recognize it as my mother’s necklace at first glance. You also knew I’d discovered her illicit affair with my father. I’d be stimulated to confront my aunty, in front of Rong An. You had planned the outcome from the very beginning, hadn’t you?”

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

When she opened her eyes again, there was a glimmer of resolution there. “Last time, I asked you if you had feelings for me at all. You said yes. So now, I want to ask you.”

She gazed at his face, pronounced each word very clearly, with utmost solemnity. “Xiao Yebai, do you love me?”

Her gaze remained steady, focused entirely on him. She watched him lift his head, watched the exquisite almond-shaped eyes behind his glasses, which, as ever, were chilly and aloof.

With the passage of time, the man’s silence gradually sunk Mo Weiyi’s heart.

It was like someone was tugging it, pulling it downwards forcefully, plunging it rapidly into a boundless darkness.

Her eyes vacantly shifted away, she turned around and began walking numbly towards the exit.

Her arm was grabbed by the man.

But she quickly shook it off.

“Weiyi.” Xiao Yebai grabbed her arm again, so forcefully she couldn’t break free.

Hearing him call her name, Mo Weiyi’s vision blurred, her face dampened with moisture.

She opened her mouth and tried to breathe, trying to stop the tears, but found herself powerless.

She wanted to say something, but found her throat hurting too much. When she finally made a sound, it was a desperate croaking, “Let go of me.”

Xiao Yebai’s other hand encircled her from behind. “It’s getting dark. Where do you plan to go?”

Mo Weiyi’s emotions, which had been fairly calm, were suddenly stirred up by his words.

She discovered sadly that even now, she thought…

His voice was a little tender.

She clenched her fingers tightly, the sharp nails digging into flesh brought a faint pain, which also sobered her up considerably.

“You asked me what I said to grandpa at the hospital this morning, right? Fine, I’ll tell you now. I told him that I want to divorce you.” Mo Weiyi enunciated each word, “Xiao Yebai, let’s divorce.”

Having heard these words, Xiao Yebai lowered his head, his aloof face leaned against her cheek. His voice calm, steady, and infinitely soft, “You’re still angry right now. I’ll consider everything you’ve said to be byproducts of that anger.”
