Chapter 259 He Couldn't Have Truly Been Injured, Could He?
Zhe Liang lifted his head, his eyes ablaze with brightness akin to fire. He gazed at the envoy from the Demon Realm, devoid of any hint of fear.
Though this fellow before him possessed far greater strength than both himself and Zhongren, his speed left much to be desired, especially in terms of agility.
It could be said that while this demonic bull had invested many skill points in strength, it lacked substantially in agility.
These observations were freshly gleaned by Zhe Liang through the recent skirmish, much like the precisely calculated strike he landed on the fellow's nose, no mere stroke of luck but rather a result of meticulous planning.
During this period, Zhe Liang acquired a wealth of new techniques and combat skills from Gu Lan.
Encountering a formidable opponent today, albeit lacking in speed, presented an opportune moment for experimentation.
Even if unable to emerge victorious, delaying the inevitable was sufficient. The young master had instructed them to impede, with the caveat to do so to the best of their abilities, holding off for as long as possible.
In the event of failure to halt the advance, hesitation was to be forsaken in favor of immediate retreat.
With faith in Gu Lan's prudent leadership, they trusted he had contingencies in place, sparing them from a desperate confrontation with the envoy.
"However, judging by his current demeanor, it seems unlikely he would act so recklessly, presumably wary of the master's prowess..."
A glimmer of emerald flashed in Zhe Liang's eyes as a faint smile graced his lips.
"Very well!"
"Seems you all think I'm an easy target, hm?" he exclaimed.
"Today, I, Niu Laosan, shall impart a lesson upon you, enlightening you to a simple truth: there are always greater powers beyond our own!"
Witnessing Zhe Liang's demeanor, Niu Laosan, the envoy from the Demon Realm, seethed with fury. This individual dared to strike him and then boast so brazenly, utterly disregarding his standing!
Mortals from the Lower Realm, seeking an opportunity for ascension, typically approached ferrying envoys with deference, offering countless treasures in their extreme obsequiousness.
Yet these two dared to engage in hostilities from the outset, treating him as though he were a mere plaything.
The martial techniques of the Demon Realm were inherently influenced by worldly desires and emotions.
Niu Laosan typically possessed an amiable disposition. However, when provoked, his temperament turned as obstinate as that of an untamed bull, impossible for even ten men to rein in.@@novelbin@@
"Enough with the chatter!" he bellowed.
"Those who trespass upon the Jing Nation are our enemies. Entering the capital of Jing Nation is not a privilege granted to all!"
Zhe Liang deliberately provoked, casting a cold stare at the Demon Realm envoy whose face flushed with rage. He sought to incite a reaction, for as soon as Niu Laosan made a move, he would flee.
In these recent days of training under Gu Lan, Zhe Liang had found his greatest aptitude and swiftest progress in a particular martial art: the art of swift movement.
The master had stated that as long as the opponent wasn't on par with him, Zhe Liang possessed a certain degree of maneuverability.
Even with a significant gap in strength, Zhe Liang remained steadfast in his belief in Gu Lan's words.
The thick-skinned adversary before him was unbeatable in a direct confrontation. However, leading him on a merry chase posed no issue for Zhe Liang.
Nearby, Zhongren watched Zhe Liang with slight astonishment. This typically reticent individual, suddenly drawing such animosity?
Had he delved into some peculiar and esoteric martial art? The youth was still inexperienced; he mustn't stray from the righteous path!
As Zhongren internally voiced these thoughts, his gaze returned to Niu Laosan, now filled with solemnity.
He hadn't expected this towering figure before him to possess such a formidable aura. Even the slightest ripple of demonic energy emanating from him sent shivers down Zhongren's spine.
Direct confrontation with such strength was out of the question. Fortunately, the envoy from the Demon Realm, while significantly more powerful than the two of them, remained defensive, reluctant to engage fully, clearly harboring some reservations.
Who else could instill such fear in a Demon Realm envoy but their own master? With thoughts of their elder brother in mind, Zhongren gained resolve, stepping forward to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Zhe Liang.
"So, you're Niu Laosan?" Zhongren inquired.
"We didn't intend any harm just now. Is your nose alright? I have some medicinal pills here that may aid in your recovery from any injuries."
Zhongren wore a benign smile as he produced several healing pills. He knew Niu Laosan's defense was formidable and that he hadn't sustained any significant injuries. It was all intentional.
If Zhe Liang could draw enmity, why should he lag behind? This powerful yet clumsy adversary; whatever strategies Zhe Liang could conceive, surely the Young Master could as well.
"You!" Niu Laosan erupted in anger upon hearing these words.
He had only suffered a minor scrape, albeit a bit embarrassing to have it inflicted by these two youngsters who hadn't even reached the Saint Realm...
But it hardly amounted to an injury! How dare these two presume they could truly harm him? It was preposterous!
In an instant, Niu Laosan flushed scarlet, radiating a terrifying aura. Um, perhaps he had harbored a tad too much resentment?
Zhongren blinked, pondering whether he had spoken some inadvertent truth... Could this fellow truly have been injured just now? Was what the elder brother had taught them truly this formidable?
"That envoy from the Demon Realm, we were merely jesting. You must remain calm... Impulsiveness is the devil's work..."
Zhongren interjected, but Niu Laosan was already incensed, his entire body ablaze with crimson, a looming shadow of a monstrous red bull swirling behind him!
Zhe Liang silently circulated his qi, uttering not a word. He awaited this opportunity. This adversary, inherently slow, became even more manageable when angered. Leading him on was child's play.
"Shadow... Annihilation Slash!" Zhe Liang initiated the attack. Seeing the assault incoming, Niu Laosan raised a massive hand, effortlessly shattering the strike.
Then, his colossal form transformed into a streak of red light, hurtling towards Zhe Liang's position.
This strike contained three-quarters of his strength. He dared not unleash his full might. Even in his fury, he retained some semblance of reason.
If he were to inadvertently kill someone, that formidable master would surely not spare him... He, as an envoy, had to weigh the consequences.
Yet, a lesson must still be taught. Even with some restraint, a solid hit could cost someone dearly. All he desired was to vent the humiliation of having his nose struck.
"Zhe Liang, dodge!" Zhongren hastily cautioned, simultaneously flashing a jade light from his fingertips, sending forth a flying sword to intercept. Yet his attack couldn't impede Niu Laosan's advance.
Seeing the imminent attack, Zhe Liang darted aside ghost-like at the last moment, narrowly evading the strike.
"Not bad!" Niu Laosan remarked with surprise, turning his head to continue his charge towards Zhe Liang, akin to a raging bull.
Boom! A massive boulder shattered beneath Niu Laosan's impact. Crack! A towering ancient tree, thick enough for three men to embrace, toppled under his force. Howl! A pack of wolves, unfortunate enough to be in the vicinity, were crushed beneath Niu Laosan's hooves...

"Too slow!" Zhe Liang taunted as he evaded, utilizing the terrain to his advantage.
"Your speed is even inferior to mine. How do you expect to converse with my master? If you seek trouble, perhaps you should return to practice!"
With each word, Niu Laosan grew angrier, yet remained unable to catch up. An odd sense of satisfaction welled within Zhe Liang. It was a feeling that defied description, but undeniably comforting.
After a moment's contemplation, Zhe Liang realized this must be what Gu Lan referred to as the Steady Flow technique...
Fight if you can, flee if you must. The teachings of the master were indeed extraordinarily effective!
"Stand and face me if you dare!" Niu Laosan fumed, his nostrils emitting smoke as he continued his pursuit. "Let's settle this like men!"
Zhe Liang's face remained serious, yet he didn't pause in his steps. As he fled, he continued to provoke.
Meanwhile, Zhongren had settled quietly upon a large rock, enjoying a slice of watermelon he had somehow acquired.
With one hand occupied with eating, he traced formations in the air to bolster Zhe Liang's defenses, all while observing the bickering chase between the two.
What do you think?
