Chapter 503 503: The Three Clarity Avatar
Having just recently absorbed the knowledge of the Nine Heavens of the Immortal Realm, Sima Qin found himself in a brief moment of silence. He understood that Jing Nation was about to take a major step forward, though the extent of that step remained uncertain to him.
After all, he had only just begun cultivating. His level of cultivation was far behind many disciples of the Lanyan Royal School, a distance of unfathomable magnitude.
Even with countless rare treasures supporting his progress, his cultivation had only reached the King Stage. But in the Immortal Realm, the King Stage was merely a starting point, barely an entry level.
Through the information gathered by Lanyan Royal School, Sima Qin slowly came to understand that a powerful cultivator could destroy entire worlds, and a single divine technique could obliterate a nation.
Faced with such beings, ordinary armies were useless. Perhaps the battle formations Lin Lu was researching might one day be effective, but they were far from being capable of that right now.
Thus, the issue of establishing a nation in the Immortal Realm required careful consideration from all angles. The biggest challenge among them was education and enlightenment.
Within the Immortal Realm, there were many nations. While it wouldn't be difficult to conquer them through force, and with Prince Jingyang's methods he could even handle the forces backing them, it wouldn't be easy to win their hearts.
Sima Qin pondered for a long while and finally spoke four words to Mu Yuyan: "Promote Confucianism extensively!"
Upon hearing this, Mu Yuyan's eyes immediately brightened. This solution was identical to the suggestion Gu Lan had given her when they were in the Immortal Realm.
Confucianism was inclusive enough that if it spread, it could gradually win the allegiance of neighboring countries. At that point, the founding of Jing Nation in the Immortal Realm would naturally follow.
"The Great Chancellor's advice aligns with both mine and Prince Jingyang's intentions," Mu Yuyan said, her tone filled with approval. "Confucianism will greatly aid in the education of the people. I leave this matter entirely to you, Great Chancellor. Please make the necessary preparations, and if there is anything you need, inform me at once!"
Mu Yuyan was becoming quite adept at delegating, and she passed the entire matter over to Sima Qin and his team of civil officials. She still had to coordinate with the military, handle affairs with the visiting envoys from other nations, and tend to many other pressing issues.
Meanwhile, in Jing Nation's Capital City, joy filled the air, and the civil and military officials of Jing Nation were all caught up in a flurry of activity, each busy working towards securing their future.
As for Gu Lan, he had quietly returned to the Gu Mansion to lead a simple life. He spent his days reading, his evenings with his beloved, and whenever he had time, he would check in on his daughter, who was causing chaos in the Underworld. Life was peaceful and fulfilling for him.
But this tranquil life was deliberate on Gu Lan's part. Before he could break through to the Main God Realm, he planned to cultivate the technique One Breath Into Three Clarity.
This technique was a reward from the system after the Lanyan Royal School won first place in the Great Competition of All Clans. It was a Daoist technique of unknown rank. Ever since Gu Lan obtained it, he had been trying to comprehend it. It wasn't until he returned to the Earthly Realm that he began to make progress.
One Breath Into Three Clarity was similar to creating avatars but also distinct in many ways. Once successfully cultivated, Gu Lan could manifest Three Clarity avatars, each identical to his true self, with no differentiation or side effects.
However, before cultivating One Breath Into Three Clarity, Gu Lan needed to pass through another Daoist stage called Cutting the Three Corpses, which meant cutting off attachments. Each attachment he severed would form a Three Clarity avatar, and his strength would rise dramatically.
The attachments weren't lost forever; rather, they were transcended. With Gu Lan's current cultivation and state of mind, he quickly overcame his evil attachment, cutting off his evil corpse and forming his first Three Clarity avatar.
"This feeling is truly strange!" Gu Lan remarked as he stood face-to-face with his Three Clarity avatar, fully aware of their shared consciousness with no barriers between them.
This state was somewhat akin to the Buddhist concept of a "clear mirror."
"Cutting off attachments is no easy task," Gu Lan reflected. "The myriad experiences of the mortal world can be transcended, but they are not easy to let go of. For me, the evil corpse was simple to sever, but the good corpse will be difficult. If I forcefully attempt to cut off the remaining corpses, it could disturb my state of mind. It's better to avoid trying until I reach the Main God Realm."
Satisfied with having obtained a single Three Clarity avatar, Gu Lan knew that its addition to his arsenal would significantly boost his combat power.
The Three Clarity avatar could even undergo tribulation on its own, allowing Gu Lan to receive the blessings of creation twice. His plan was to release his Three Clarity avatar during his Main God Tribulation to maximize the benefits.
As for whether he could survive the tribulation, that thought never crossed his mind. His understanding of the Laws had already surpassed many Main God Realm powerhouses. If he couldn't pass the tribulation, few in the Six Realms could.
"I wonder if the Earthly Realm can host a Main God Tribulation. I should try."
With that thought, Gu Lan released a portion of his power. Instantly, the clear skies over Jing Nation's Capital City darkened as Tribulation Clouds began to gather, covering the entire sky.
The world darkened, and countless cultivators were filled with dread. Though they couldn't sense the aura of a Supreme Peak Divine Realm cultivator, they could feel the oppressive weight of the Heavenly Tribulation.
"What is this phenomenon? I've never seen such terrifying pressure—it's suffocating!" one cultivator exclaimed.
"That's the Heavenly Tribulation! The legendary Heavenly Tribulation!"
"Which fellow Daoist is undergoing tribulation here? You should've warned us! I nearly wet my pants!"
The cultivators gathered in confusion, trying to figure out what was happening. But just as they learned that someone was undergoing tribulation, the Tribulation Clouds suddenly dissipated, and the skies returned to their previous clarity.
Stunned, the gathered cultivators were left speechless. They had been eagerly preparing to witness the fabled Heavenly Tribulation, only for it to disappear in an instant.
Who was playing games with the Heavenly Tribulation?
"Can it really happen?" Gu Lan mused. "If the Earthly Realm can host a Main God Tribulation, does that mean it can also produce Divine Realm experts? Could it be that the limitation of the Earthly Realm's peak strength is due to the lack of spiritual energy?"
If the Earthly Realm could experience a Main God Tribulation and absorb enough creation power, who knew what changes it could undergo?
Just as Gu Lan's excitement was building, Mu Yuyan appeared at the entrance of Gu Mansion's secret chamber.
"Darling!" she called out anxiously. "Are you about to break through?"
Before Gu Lan could even open the door, Mu Yuyan had rushed into the chamber, still clad in her imperial robes.
"There's no need to worry, Honey," Gu Lan said with a comforting smile. "I was merely testing the waters with the Heavenly Tribulation. It can't harm me."
Seeing the concern in Mu Yuyan's eyes, warmth filled Gu Lan's heart. He reached out, holding her hands gently as he reassured her.
Gu Lan's calm words slowly eased the worry in Mu Yuyan's heart, and she sighed in relief. "You scared me! Don't take such risks without warning me next time."
Gu Lan smiled softly. "I promise, Honey. But you know, there's nothing in this realm or the next that can truly harm me."
What do you think?
