Chapter 2715: Arrogant
The man's expression shifted from arrogance to avarice. He whispered something to his companions, and they all turned their attention towards Yun Lintian and Qingqing, their eyes filled with undisguised greed.
The leader stepped forward, his movements smooth and confident. He approached Yun Lintian, a forced smile playing on his lips.
"Fellow cultivator," he said, his voice smooth and oily, "I am Bai Xuan, the leader of the Iron Will Sect's elite disciples. I couldn't help but notice the… exquisite spirit companion you have with you."
He paused, his eyes fixed on Qingqing. "A True Spirit… such a rare and precious being. I believe she would be much happier under the care of our sect."
Yun Lintian stared at Bai Xuan indifferently, as if he were looking at a walking dead.
"I am afraid I cannot agree. She's my friend," Yun Lintian said, his voice calm and steady.
Bai Xuan's smile vanished, his face hardening. "Friend? A mere spirit companion? She should be serving a powerful sect, not wasting her potential on a nobody like you."
He gestured towards his companions, who stepped forward, their auras radiating a sense of threat.
"Hand her over," Bai Xuan said, his voice cold and commanding. "Or face the consequences."
Yun Lintian's eyes flashed, a cold light flickering within their depths.
"I suggest you leave," he said calmly. "Before you regret it."
Bai Xuan laughed, a harsh, grating sound. "Regret? You dare threaten me? You have no idea who you are dealing with."
He raised his hand, and a surge of energy erupted from his body, swirling around him like a raging storm.
"I will take that spirit companion," he declared, his voice filled with arrogance. "And there is nothing you can do to stop me."
Yun Lintian raised his brow slightly. Bai Xuan's arrogance reminded him of the reality of a cultivation world once again. Compared to the world he came from, this Primordial Era was more unrestrained and competitive. It was truly a law of the jungle here.
Yun Lintian glanced around the hall. He noticed that no one dared to step forward, their eyes filled with fear and apprehension. Even the clerks of the emporium, who were usually eager to assist customers, simply watched from the sidelines, their expressions indifferent, as if they were used to such commotion.
He then turned to Shi Nansun, who was visibly nervous, his hands trembling slightly. "What would happen if I killed these people here?"
The question hung in the air, heavy and ominous. Shi Nansun's eyes widened, his jaw dropping in stunned silence. Bai Xuan and his companions, who had been expecting a display of fear or submission, were equally taken aback.
Bai Xuan, recovering from his initial shock, burst into mocking laughter. "Kill us? You dare to speak such nonsense? Do you even know who we are?"
He gestured towards his companions, their auras radiating power and arrogance. "We are the elite disciples of the Iron Will Sect, the most powerful sect in this realm. Killing us would be tantamount to declaring war on the entire sect."
He paused, his eyes gleaming with malicious intent. "And let me assure you, you would not survive the consequences."
"Really?" Yun Lintian responded and turned to Shi Nansun. "What would happen?"
Shi Nansun, still reeling from the unexpected question, stammered, "Young… Young Master Yun… if you were to kill them… the Iron Will Sect would not let it go. They would send their elders, their experts… they would hunt you down to the ends of the realm."
Yun Lintian nodded slowly and turned to look at a man in a green robe in the distance. This person was clearly different from others, as he was at the God Ascension Realm. Yun Lintian had already noticed him the moment he stepped into the building.
"Is what he said true?" Yun Lintian asked.
The man was taken aback for a moment and glanced at Bai Xuan before replying. "They are indeed elites of the Iron Will Sect, but it's far from the entire sect hunting you down because of this. At most, they will ask for compensation."
"I see." Yun Lintian nodded slowly.
Bai Xuan's face darkened as he looked at the man. "Who are you? How dare you meddle in my business here?"
The man shrugged and said indifferently. "I merely answered the question."
He paused for a moment and took a deep look at Bai Xuan. "You should enjoy the final moments of your life. Just don't be arrogant in your next life."
His words immediately stunned everyone in the hall.
Bai Xuan's expression turned gloomy instantly. He raised his hand and roared. "Kill them!"
Gurgling…
Before Bai Xuan and his companions could even react, their heads were rolling on the ground, their bodies collapsing in a heap. The suddenness and brutality of the act stunned everyone present, a collective gasp echoing through the hall.
The man in the green robe, who had spoken so calmly moments before, was just as surprised, his eyes widening slightly. He had expected a confrontation, a clash of energy, not such swift and decisive annihilation.
He took a step forward, his gaze fixed on Yun Lintian, his expression a mix of caution and respect. He cupped his fists, a gesture of respect among cultivators.
"Fellow cultivator," he said, his voice deep and measured, "my name is Tang Jian."
Yun Lintian returned the gesture, his expression calm and composed. "Yun Lintian. Thank you for the information."
A tense silence filled the hall, the energy thick with unspoken questions and apprehension. The sudden display of power had left everyone speechless, their eyes fixed on Yun Lintian, their minds reeling.
Shi Nansun, who had been frozen in terror, finally snapped out of his stupor. He looked at the headless corpses of Bai Xuan and his companions, his face pale and his hands trembling.
"Young… Young Master Yun," he stammered, his voice barely a whisper, "we should leave. Now. Before the Iron Will Sect finds out."
Yun Lintian remained calm, his expression unchanged. "Why? They attacked me. I merely defended myself."
Tang Jian nodded slightly. "You don't have to worry, Brother Yun. The Sect Master of the Iron Will Sect isn't an unreasonable person. These people have long been domineering and arrogant. This time, they kicked an iron plate. Hehe."
"It seems Brother Tang is very familiar with the sect," Yun Lintian said calmly.
"Well, my master has been their guest often," Tang Jian nodded slightly. "How about we find a place to drink?"
"Sure," Yun Lintian smiled. "But first, let me buy something."
What do you think?
