Chapter 430: The Eight True Demon Races, The Dominant Xia Zuo (II)
"Chen Chu! What are you doing!?"
Gabriella grabbed onto the side of the mech, startled, and looked down.
There, Chen Chu had both hands gripping the mech’s ankles, as he lifted the giant machine into the air.
"Haha... nothing, just a bit curious," Chen Chu said as he swung the massive mech a couple of times, stirring up a gust of wind before releasing it. This scene was somewhat reminiscent of when Luo Fei had worn the divine battle armor.
The reason? Pure curiosity. After all, no man could resist playing with such a huge "toy," even if only for a moment.
Thud!
The mech’s heavy feet hit the ground, causing the earth to tremble slightly.
After letting go of the mech, Chen Chu pulled his legs out of the half-meter-deep holes in the ground, lightly leaped, and landed on the towering machine’s wide shoulders.
Looking at the blonde girl in the tight battle suit in front of him, Chen Chu found it odd. "Gabriella, why does your mech feel so light?"
"Light?" Gabriella was taken aback. "My Black Demon White King Mech stands at 43 meters tall and weighs over 2,600 tons. It’s considered heavy among mechs of the same size.
"Even though we mech cultivators follow a path that integrates technology, we are still cultivators. Our strength isn’t just based on size and weight.
"Otherwise, we could simply build a mech weighing billions of tons and towering thousands of meters, and it’d be invincible."
Gabriella then looked at Chen Chu in amazement. "Actually, I feel like you’re more of a monster, being able to lift my mech barehanded."
"It’s nothing. I’ve always had a lot of strength." Chen Chu smiled.
Currently, his strength attribute had surpassed 5,000 points, though since it hadn’t been tested recently, he didn’t know exactly how many tons his basic arm strength could lift.
However, when he lifted the mech earlier, he felt like he had some strength left over.
Of course, calculating his current strength was complicated. Apart from his basic arm strength, there was also the amplification from his cultivation arts, which boosted his power several times over.
From the initial sixfold boost from the Dragon Elephant Art, to the real dragon attribute he gained from advancing to the Dragon Elephant Tyrant Body, then to the even more advanced Divine Might Tyrant Body and now the War God Body—each step stacked on top of the previous one.
So, unless it was measured by professional machines, even Chen Chu didn’t know the exact value of his strength.
Soon, Gabriella finished repairing her mech and stored her equipment back into subspace, and the two set off.
On the ground, Chen Chu moved at supersonic speed, turning into a streak of golden light that was accompanied by the piercing sound of a sonic boom.
Beside him, the black-and-white mech, armed with a massive battle sword, spread its arms like wings. The engines on both arms, the sides, the back, and under its feet roared, releasing streams of hot energy.
In addition, the anti-gravity field at the front canceled out the weight caused by the earth’s gravity, allowing the two-thousand-ton mech to fly at supersonic speed close to the ground.
However, Gabriella usually avoided flying like this, as it was too loud and consumed a lot of energy.
"The relic is located about a thousand kilometers into the ruins, inside a collapsed mountain. My mech’s imaging system detected traces of buildings there, and the energy detection system also sensed special law fluctuations inside.
"But I didn’t expect the contaminated beast to have a camouflage skill. It was lying dormant at the entrance to the relic, and as soon as I approached, it woke up."
As Gabriella briefed Chen Chu through a wireless headset, several monsters emitting level 6 and 7 auras appeared in the distance.
These monsters had been drawn in by the battle between Gabriella and the contaminated beast earlier, and now they were returning, just in time to run into the duo.
"Leave these monsters to me. You should conserve your ammo and energy."
As he spoke, a circular sonic boom erupted behind Chen Chu, his speed instantly doubling, and he shot forward as a streak of golden light, tearing through the battlefield with a thunderous roar.
Bang, bang, bang!
The twenty or so void monsters didn’t even have time to react before their bodies exploded into fragments under his halberd’s crushing force.
His efficiency in killing was so high that even Gabriella watched with a serious expression. "This guy from East Xia is a total monster. No wonder he can kill several thousand high-level creatures in a single day.
"And his true power consumption during battle is astonishingly low, only about one-thousandth. It seems like he’s relying purely on physical strength for those explosive attacks..."
On the mech’s projection display, various data on Chen Chu’s movement speed, explosive force, and total true power were being analyzed by the mech’s systems. Each of these figures left Gabriella in awe.
As Chen Chu continued his slaughter, the gathered Purple Spirit energy caused the black-purple murderous aura around him to swell, forming a thick cloud of dark mist that engulfed him completely.
Not only Gabriella, but even Xie Chen outside the ruins couldn’t help but marvel. "Though I’ve seen this a few times, every time I witness it, I’m still amazed.
"If he can maintain this terrifying dominance over those of the same level after ascending to king-level... If the council members can hold back the demon gods of the Purgatory Demon Clan, and the heavenly kings intercept the great demon kings...
"In that scenario, he might be able to single-handedly slaughter dozens of demon kings and high-level demons on the frontlines."
Ji Yongning shook his head. "It’s not that simple. The Purgatory Demon Clan has existed for hundreds of thousands of years, and they possess countless demonic arts and bloodline abilities. There’s likely something that can counter him.
"They are a truly terrifying race. After more than twenty years of war, we’ve barely managed to hold off their assault. And most importantly, this isn’t even their full strength.
"Jiuyou and the others went deep into Purgatory territory and found that they’re also at war with two other powerful civilizations. It’s said those wars have been going on for years.
"Currently, Xuanwu and Jiuyou have ventured back into the mythical world. They’re hoping to bypass the Purgatory Clan’s domain and make contact with those two civilizations to see if an alliance is possible."
At this point, both of their expressions became grim. This was a piece of news bleak enough to cause despair, which was why only king-level human experts and above were informed.
No one expected that the Purgatory Demon Clan currently fighting humanity was just two branches of the eight True Demon Races, with the other six branches waging war against two other civilizations.
Waging war against three civilizations at once—it was a demonstration of just how powerful the Purgatory Clan was. This was the true strength of a civilization that had stood for hundreds of thousands of years.
Xie Chen spoke slowly. "I don’t think we need to worry too much. Although the Purgatory Demon Clan is powerful as a whole, the eight True Demon Races fight separately and even harbor deep grudges among their three races.
"It’s like how ancient nations would war with each other despite being from the same world. They’re all from the Purgatory World and have split their forces to fight, but there’s no chance they’ll unite.
"Moreover, if those two civilizations have been able to fight the Purgatory Clan for so many years, they must be incredibly strong. When the time comes, if the three of us can form a unified front, we may not be able to counterattack, but we can at least buy ourselves more time to develop.
"At the current rate of human development, once the younger generation matures and we produce ten more king-level experts, we’ll be able to hold the upper hand in high-end combat on the frontlines."
"Let’s hope so. After all, it’s not just the threat of the Purgatory Demon Clan—we also have to face the impact of the second mythical world invasion," Ji Yongning said with a bitter smile. Humanity’s current situation was dire.
"Don’t worry, Old Ji. We’ll be fine," Xie Chen replied confidently. "I’ve done the math. Among the older generation, Ling Yi and a few others are already on the verge of breaking through to the king-level, and they could ascend at any time.
"Three of the geniuses from the batch ten years ago are also close to a breakthrough. Their laws have been perfected, and once they’ve refined their origin sufficiently, they’ll advance.
"In the past decade alone, there have been plenty of potential kings. Out of that batch, over thirty have already reached the Ninth Heavenly Realm.
"The youngest of them is Xia Zuo from Nantian High School. Last week, he broke through to the Ninth Heavenly Realm in the Abyssal Hidden Realm of the mythical world. His talent is astonishing.
"Beyond these discovered geniuses, there are also a few descendants of king-level families who’ve shown talents on par with their forebears, which gives them hope for a breakthrough.
"On top of that, the six Innate Awakeners who were taken to the mythical world years ago have also reached the Ninth Heavenly Realm. There’s a good chance two of them might become kings as well."
While the two chatted, they watched through the Eye of the Sky as Chen Chu and Gabriella swept through, slaughtering large numbers of monsters, until they finally arrived outside the collapsed mountain range.
What do you think?
