Mythical Three Kingdoms

Chapter 32 Zilong Has to Go Up Too

...

Having seen those with innate divine strength, such as Guan Yu, who could wield the Green Dragon Crescent Blade, weighing over eighty pounds, without relying on inner qi, one could certainly classify it as innate divine strength.

Similarly, Wuu Anguo, who relied on inner qi to handle a great hammer weighing hundreds of pounds, also possessed innate divine strength, but there must be a limit to innate divine strength, right?

Lyu Bu was himself endowed with innate divine strength; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to master the Sky Piercer crafted from meteoric iron. However, Zhang Fei’s strength now gave him a shock. Was this truly human strength?

Lyu Bu expressed that he had developed an interest in research. He planned to capture this fellow, treat him to good food and wine, and thoroughly investigate what he had been fed to grow so extraordinarily strong.

Zhang Fei’s strength continued to grow, just like Lyu Bu’s inner qi, which, once the valve was opened, had never been seen to stop. His strength was increasing more and more, and even the muscles visible on his bare flesh were seen trembling and swelling slowly. Originally covered with lumps of muscle, Zhang Fei’s arms were now almost bursting out of his armor.

Zhao Yun curiously watched Zhang Fei; he had previously just thought that this guy was quite strong, but what he saw now was beyond ordinary strength. The muscles surging on Zhang Fei’s arms were almost catching up to the size of his thighs.

"Zichuan doesn’t need to worry anymore. If General Zhang maintains his current strength, it will not be easy for Lyu Bu to defeat General Zhang in a short time. This kind of strength is enough to disregard most techniques. Right now, if Lyu Bu dares to use his half-baked light sword technique, his Sky Piercer would definitely fly away," Zhao Yun explained to a worried Chen Xi with a smile.

"Probably not, I think I understand what’s going on with third brother. Get ready, Brother Yun," Chen Xi said with a wry smile. He recalled that Zhang Fei once mentioned that he and second brother had some ace techniques. The abnormal increase in strength was most likely Zhang Fei’s trump card.

Zhang Fei had become numb; he didn’t care about techniques anymore. He had realized that for Lyu Bu, all his techniques were trash. There was only one thing he could compare with Lyu Bu, and that was strength—his strength was greater than Lyu Bu’s.

With this knowledge, he gained confidence. His father had told him, in a fight, if you’re lacking in strength, then use techniques; if you’re lacking in techniques, then use speed. As long as you have an advantage in one of those three, you can run away if you can’t win a fight. Of course, if you’re inferior in all three, then you’d best keep your distance. If you must fight, don’t expect to live; only by fighting with the resolve to die can you find a path to survival.

Chen Xi’s guess was correct; Zhang Fei was indeed using his trump card technique— well, this came from the time when Guan Yu had told him about developing a new ultimate move, prompting Zhang Fei to feel he needed one too. Thus, he came up with this technique that stimulated the muscles with qi to unleash greater strength, though he had previously only used it on pigs.

Although Zhang Fei had not used it himself, the pigs he used for his research temporarily became nearly as strong as he was. Yes, Zhang Fei believed that his technique was successfully researched, so he killed the pig and ate it...

Later, when bragging to Guan Yu, he claimed to have developed an ultimate knowledge as well, though Guan Yu had no idea what Zhang Fei’s move was all about.

Zhang Fei had no clue just how fierce his technique was: it completely squeezed out muscular strength, limited certain nerve transmissions, and destroyed the body’s natural protection systems. This was why Zhang Fei’s strength was growing without limit. Once the body’s natural protection system was entirely gone, even an ordinary person without inner qi could produce tons of strength.

"Boom!" Lyu Bu staggered back. Even though he employed the Heavy Sword Technique while mounted on Red Hare, he was repelled, albeit merely by a small step. Zhang Fei already saw the glimmer of victory; he could feel his strength surging continuously, and at this rate, squashing Lyu Bu seemed like no challenge at all.

Lyu Bu’s complexion took a turn for the worse, being pushed back was something new to him—he was used to pushing others, not the other way around. Encountering such a situation for the first time left Lyu Bu somewhat dazed.

"You’ve angered me!" Lyu Bu snapped back to reality, his eyes tinged with a trace of blood-red fury. With a crazed roar, his aura congealed into a single force, and the Sky Piercer, as if carrying the might of heaven and earth, came crashing down heavily.

"Boom!" A loud noise thundered, followed by a gigantic wave of Qi causing dust to billow into the air.

As the dust settled, Lyu Bu sat atop Red Hare Horse at a distance, sneering upon glancing at Guan Yu guarding Zhang Fei, and at the blood-soaked Zhang Fei teetering on his horse. "I thought you were truly gaining limitless strength, but it turns out to be such a laughable outcome. Your body simply can’t withstand such enormous power. Really, it’s quite ludicrous."

The entire field was in shock. Guan and Zhang, who had been evenly matched with Lyu Bu, had unexpectedly seen Zhang Fei gravely wounded after a single enraged strike from Lyu Bu. Could it be that Lyu Bu had been merely toying with them all this time?

"Let me bring an end to you both!" Lyu Bu guffawed, brandishing his Sky Piercer towards Guan Yu for a decisive strike, having ascertained that Zhang Fei had lost his combat power. What he sought now was to reap the results, having witnessed the might of Guan Yu and Zhang Fei firsthand—they were strong but merely strong.

"Zhao Zilong of Changshan, please enlighten me!" Zhao Yun stepped forward with his spear in a reluctant show, this being his first time participating in a group beating.

Licking his lips, Lyu Bu dismissed Guan Yu and Zhang Fei and charged straight at Zhao Yun. Group assaults and taking turns in combat meant nothing to Lyu Bu; from Bingzhou to Luoyang, and from Luoyang to the current battles against the Feudal Lords, who dared to face him in a duel? Championing unmatched under the heavens, if one kills, one must slay the mighty. This has always been his principle!

Zhao Yun was a master in his own right, Lyu Bu was well aware. However, he was even more certain that any master facing off against him was but dust. He was confident in defeating all masters under heaven, whether it be Wen Yan, who claimed to be a Renowned General from Hebei, or Guan and Zhang, whom he was close to defeating. They were all masters, but they were up against Lyu Bu!

Zhao Yun’s spear was incredibly fast—so fast that even with Lyu Bu’s sharp vision, all he could see were streaks of shiny silver. He had never imagined someone’s spear could be so fleet. The sky filled with fluttering blossoms of spear movements genuinely astonished him; it was as shocking as when he first witnessed Zhang Fei’s strength.

The silver-blue and golden-red auras clashed and compressed continuously, neither able to engulf the other, firmly maintaining the deadlock.

Lyu Bu no longer dared to play around with the half-baked Light and Heavy Sword Technique. That pretty boy took advantage of his experimentation with the technique, almost leaving a hole in him, which made Lyu Bu curse inwardly. Wasn’t that old man who mentioned the technique said that only a martial arts prodigy could grasp it, and mastery required at least a decade of dedication? Those who could employ it flawlessly were all septuagenarian elders!

Dismissing the half-baked technique, Lyu Bu started to fight with stable and solid strikes, convinced that the pretty boy couldn’t remain unshakable for long!
