Chapter 437: Please Don’t Blame Me
Chapter 437: Please Don’t Blame Me
After resting for a while and regaining their energy, Wu Yehao said, "We can't stay here for long. We should leave after sunset."
Yao Yuechuan nodded. "Alright."
While they were resting and waiting for sunset, far away in Fengcheng City, someone knocked on Gao Shuwei's office door.
Hearing the knock, Gao Shuwei, without looking up from the report he was reading, said, "Come in."
Upon receiving his permission, the staff member opened the door and stepped inside. Placing a report on the large office table, the staff member calmly reported, "Director Gao, here is the experimental report for Project Zero."
Gao Shuwei took the report and began reading it.
Seeing that the result was not what he desired, he closed the report and said, "Tell those scientists to do their jobs properly. Otherwise, they will become experimental subjects." Hearing that, the staff member picked up the report and responded, "Yes, Director."
After the staff member left his office, Gao Shuwei leaned back in his chair and fell into deep thought. After a long silence, he picked up the phone on his desk and dialed a number.
When the call connected, he asked, "What is the situation in Luocheng City?"
A second later, a man's voice came through the phone. "The target has been spotted entering Luocheng City and is currently besieged by the deformed monsters."
Hearing this report, Gao Shuwei pondered for a moment before ordering, "Continue the observation and make sure he doesn't die."
"What about the others?" the man asked.
With a cold tone, Gao Shuwei replied, "Let them be."
The man hesitated briefly before saying, "It's Yao Yuechuan."
Gao Shuwei's eyes flickered upon hearing the name. After a moment of silence, he said, "Protect both of them. If they die, you will be buried with them."
"Yes, Director." The man accepted the order and then hung up the call.
After the call ended, Gao Shuwei closed his eyes and rubbed his temples as he thought, 'Why did Yuechuan go there as well? I need to find a way to lure him away.'
With that in mind, Gao Shuwei sat upright and activated his ability. Five minutes later, he suddenly opened his eyes and gasped for air.
Looking at his trembling hands, Gao Shuwei laughed and muttered-with a hint of madness in his voice, "It's still the same. Why can't I change the outcome? Is there something wrong with the plan? Or someone else is also altering the future?"
Closing his eyes again, Gao Shuwei activated his ability once more. Each time he saw the same future, he tried again and again until he had exhausted his energy.@@novelbin@@
Slamming his fist on the table, Gao Shuwei roared in frustration, "Why?! Why is it still the same?!"
Breathing heavily, cold sweat streamed down his chin and dripped onto the table. After experiencing countless deaths within twenty minutes, Gao Shuwei's mental state was on the verge of collapse.
He slumped back in his chair, covering his pale face with trembling hands. Taking a deep breath to compose himself, Gao Shuwei picked up the phone again and dialed a number.
When the call connected, he instructed, "Accelerate the progress of Project Zero."
After hanging up, he turned to stare out through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Gazing at the gloomy sky, which is now slowly changing colors, Gao Shuwei muttered softly, "Younger Sister, please don't blame me. Sacrificing that thing is the only way to stop all of this."
A few hours later, when the sun finally disappeared into the western horizon, Wu Yehao, resting inside the half-collapsed building, noticed the deformed monsters' roaring had quieted significantly.
He turned to one of his subordinates and said, "Go check the situation outside."
The wind element ability user nodded, stood up, and stepped out.
Activating his wind energy, he manipulated the surrounding air and, with a light kick, propelled himself into the sky. Landing lightly on top of the earth wall, he scanned the area.
With a distance of five meters from the ground, the deformed monsters below didn't notice him. After surveying the surroundings for a while, he controlled the air again and leaped back down.
Landing lightly on the ground, he entered the building and reported, "Captain, the number of deformed monsters surrounding us has decreased slightly."
Wu Yehao considered this for a moment before saying, "We will leave in an hour. Until then, eat and recover your stamina. The next battle won't be easy."
"Yes, Captain."
While they rested, the deformed monsters outside the wall began to disperse. An hour later, Wu Yehao, Yao Yuechuan, and their subordinates boarded the three armored vehicles. Meanwhile, the two wind element ability users carried the earth element ability users to the top of the wall. Once there, one of the earth element ability users signaled, "Captain Wu, we are ready."
Standing atop one of the armored vehicles, Wu Yehao nodded and commanded, "Open the wall."
Following his order, the earth element ability users placed their palms on the wall and activated their abilities.
Rumble...
Seconds later, an opening appeared on the wall. Without hesitation, the drivers pressed the accelerators, and the vehicles sped out.
As the earth element ability users finished their task, the wind element ability users carried them down to the rooftops of the armored vehicles. The four of them then slipped into the vehicles through open windows.
At the same time, Yao Yuechuans, who was standing on top of the leading armored vehicle, raised his hand, summoning a massive fireball. Once it grew to a two-meter diameter, he hurled it forward.
Boom!
The fireball scorched everything in its path, burning the deformed monsters to ashes.
With the path partially cleared, Wu Yehao summoned thunderbolts. In the next second, dark thunder clouds gathered above the armored vehicles, and the air thickened with static electricity. Snapping his fingers, Wu Yehao summoned countless thunderbolts.
Crack! Boom! Boom!
In just a few seconds, countless thunderbolts rained down, obliterating deformed monsters that surrounded the armored vehicles. The combined onslaught of fireballs and thunderbolts managed to clear the way.
After more than half an hour, the three armored vehicles finally broke free from the encirclement, speeding toward the secret laboratory.
What do you think?
