Chapter 469: Aftershock
The responses came a second after the others heard Yao Ran’s warning.
"Understood."
While the others rushed to refuel, Yao Ran surveyed their surroundings. As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but ruins. Just as she was about to find Long Yu, the ground trembled violently beneath her feet.
"Not good! Aftershocks incoming!" someone warned.
As soon as his words fell, everyone braced themselves.
A second later, the ground shook violently. Yao Ran dropped to the ground, trying to steady herself.
"Ran Ran!" Despite the violent earthquake, Long Yu rushed to her side and shielded her with his body.
The shaking lasted over five minutes before finally subsiding.
When the world fell silent again, Long Yu looked down at her and asked anxiously, "Ran Ran, are you alright?"
Yao Ran nodded. "I’m fine. How about you?"
"I’m fine." Long Yu said.
After getting his answer, Yao Ran then turned to check on the others and asked, "Is everyone alright?"
Shi Xuan dusted himself off and responded, "We are fine." After saying that, he resumed refueling the aircraft.
After hours of flying, exhaustion had taken its toll on everyone. Their stomachs were empty, and their energy was drained.
Touching her grumbling stomach, Yao Ran stood up with Long Yu’s help. After checking that he was not injured, she said, "I will distribute some food. You should get some rest."
Long Yu, visibly fatigued, nodded. "Alright."
Taking out a meal box and a bottle of lake water from her storage space, she handed them to him. "You eat first."
Then, she called Huang Zhihui and Deng Qiqi to help her distribute food and water to the rest of the team.
For the others, Yao Ran refrained from giving them pure lake water. Instead, she provided a diluted version—just in case their bodies couldn’t handle the energy contained within it. The last thing she needed right now was for someone to explode from drinking it.
When Yao Ran, Deng Qiqi, and Huang Zhihui finished distributing food and diluted lake water to their team, they went to deliver some to Xu Qipeng’s team.
Seeing them approach, Xu Ruihan stepped forward and asked Yao Ran, "Are you alright?"
Yao Ran nodded. "I’m fine. How about you and the others?"
"I’m fine," Xu Ruihan replied, then glanced at his team members and added, "Some were injured during the turbulence caused by the first tectonic plate collision, but they are only minor injuries."
After saying that, he turned back to Yao Ran and asked, "Do you need something?"
Yao Ran shook her head and explained, "We are here to distribute food and water for everyone."
Hearing this, Xu Ruihan’s cold expression softened slightly, and the corners of his lips curved up faintly. He reached out, patted Yao Ran’s head gently, and said, "Thank you, Younger Sister Ran Ran."
Being called that by him, Yao Ran felt a bit awkward. She cleared her throat lightly and said, "We will distribute the food and water now."
Xu Ruihan nodded. "I will send a few people to help you."
"Alright."
With that, Yao Ran took out several meal boxes and bottles of lake water from her storage space. Looking at the resting soldiers nearby, she called out, "Everyone, come and get your food and water."
The moment they heard this, the soldiers’ eyes lit up, and they quickly formed a line in front of Yao Ran, Deng Qiqi, and Huang Zhihui.
Soon, Deng Qiqi handed out the meal boxes, Huang Zhihui distributed the lake water, and Yao Ran provided medicine for those who were injured. Thanks to their efficiency, the distribution process was completed in a short time.
Two hours later, the aircraft was fully refueled, and everyone had eaten, rested, and received medical treatment.
Noticing that the ground was sinking deeper, Long Yu said, "Let’s continue our journey."
Following his words, everyone boarded their respective aircraft and left the area.
Meanwhile, deep inside the ocean, in one of the submarine’s crew quarters, Yao Yuechuan sat with a heavy sigh as he watched the surveillance feeds on his tablet. After a moment, he slumped onto his bed, staring at the low ceiling.
Seated on the lower bunk, Wu Yehao paused from practicing his ability, looked up, and asked, "Why the heavy sigh?"
Yao Yuechuan leaned over the edge of his bed, looking down at Wu Yehao, who was channeling lightning energy in his palm as he controlled the lightning into various shapes and sizes.
"I’m worried about my younger sister," Yao Yuechuan answered, his voice tinged with sadness.
Wu Yehao’s hand movements paused for a moment before resuming his training. After a brief silence, he said, "She will be fine. The Eldest Young Lady is more capable than you think. Even if we don’t make it, she will survive."
When he heard Wu Yehao’s words, Yao Yuechuan immediately glared at him and snorted. "I still need to continue my Yao family’s bloodline so I won’t die either. Otherwise, my grandfather would crawl out of his grave and beat me up."
Just as Wu Yehao was about to remind him that Yao Zi’ao’s grave had probably already sunk into the ocean, the submarine’s alarm suddenly sounded. Experience more content on NovelBin.Côm
Wung~! Wung~! Wung~!
Hearing the alarm signaling the engine failure, the two exchanged glances before rushing out of their quarters.
On their way to the command-control navigation center, Yao Yuechuan stopped one of the engineers and asked, "What is happening?"
The engineer, clearly anxious, answered quickly, "The water temperature keeps rising, and Commander Fu has ordered us to resurface."
Wu Yehao frowned. "Then why did the alarm go off?"
"The tectonic plate collisions caused massive mega tsunamis around the world, and the whole ocean has basically turned into a giant blender. Some parts of the submarine were damaged when we barely avoided an underwater volcano collapse."
The engineer glanced toward the nuclear reactor room at the tail of the submarine anxiously. As his urgency grew, he said, "I’m sorry, but I have to go now."
What do you think?
