Chapter 219 The Woman In Black
"You—are you part of Red Fang?"
The woman demanded, her voice low and rough, like someone who had smoked a pack a day for years.
"I'm not, I swear."
Haruto took a slow step to the side, shifting to show her his backpack, but she only narrowed her eyes, finger twitching over the trigger.
"Calm down. I'll show you." Keeping his movements deliberate, he unzipped the backpack and pulled out a memory card.
"See? These are all the videos from that cabinet. I stole them as evidence—to give to the police."
The woman scoffed but didn't lower her gun.
"The police? They have connections to Red Fang. You really think they'll touch this case?"
Haruto exhaled through his nose. "First of all, can you put the gun down?"
He couldn't help but wonder where she had even gotten it—firearms were strictly illegal in Japan.
"Second of all, I have a strong backup," he continued, shouldering the backpack again.
"But we need to move before—"
His words were cut off by a commotion outside.
Shouts rang through the hallway as Ren's men spotted them.
Fingers pointed in their direction before a dozen footsteps thundered toward the room.
The woman didn't hesitate.
She snatched up a fallen knife with one hand and raised her gun with the other, firing into the charging group.
Three bodies crumpled instantly, the others stumbling back in shock.
"Let's go." Without waiting for a response, she bolted for the exit.
Haruto followed on instinct, staying behind her as she fired off more shots. Men dropped like dominoes.
Then, as she aimed at the last man standing, her gun clicked.
Empty.
The man smirked, lunging forward with a fist—but she was faster. Tossing the gun aside, she spun, the blade flashing in her grip.
A quick, clean slice tore across his throat. Blood splattered, his hands clutching at his neck as he collapsed.
"Holy shit."
Haruto muttered, breath catching. The sheer efficiency of her movements, the brutality—it was like something straight out of an action movie.
Even as a gang member, he had never fought with guns before. Was he still just a low-level thug compared to this?@@novelbin@@
"What the hell are you standing around for?" she snapped.
"Do you want to die here?"

That snapped him out of it. He ran to her side.
"What's your name?" he asked between breaths.
She shot him an unimpressed look. "Is that really important right now?"
Ahead of them, at least ten men were already waiting at the top of the stairs, weapons drawn.
The woman clicked her tongue as she saw the men blocking their way.
They had the high ground, and in a tight space like the stairs, escaping wouldn't be easy.
Haruto exhaled sharply, rolling his shoulders. "Tight space, uneven footing. We'll have to use that against them."
She didn't answer—just surged forward like a shadow with a knife.
The first man swung a metal baton, aiming for her ribs. She ducked low, letting the baton sail over her head before thrusting her blade upward.
The knife sank into his thigh.
"ARRGHH!!" He howled, stumbling back.
Haruto was already in motion. The moment her opponent reeled, he lunged at the second attacker with a sharp elbow strike to the jaw.
Bone cracked under the impact, and before the thug could even collapse, Haruto grabbed him by the collar and yanked him forward—slamming his knee into his gut.
The man choked, spit flying from his mouth before Haruto spun him around and hurled him down the stairs.
"Nice," he murmured.
The woman sidestepped another attacker's punch, twisting her knife in her grip and driving it into the soft flesh of his side.
He shrieked, but she kicked him off the blade, sending him crashing into the railing.
One of the thugs took advantage of the close quarters, reaching to grab Haruto from behind.
But Haruto was faster.
The moment the man's hands closed around his shoulder, he shifted his weight, twisting his entire body.
His elbow smashed into the thug's temple with brutal precision.
The man's grip slackened, and Haruto didn't hesitate—grabbing his opponent's wrist and yanking it forward while sweeping out his legs.
The thug flipped over Haruto's hip, landing with a sickening thud on the sharp edge of the stairs.
Another enemy came charging, swinging a knife wildly.
"Huh, that cheap weapon won't work on me," he said, his tone mocked.
Haruto ducked, avoiding the blade by inches before catching the man's wrist mid-swing.
Using the momentum, he twisted sharply, forcing the thug's own arm against his body and slamming him into the wall.
The knife clattered to the floor, and Haruto didn't give him a chance to recover—his palm struck the man's throat, cutting off his breath.
A second later, he shoved him backward, sending him toppling into his allies.
The woman, meanwhile, was dismantling her opponents with lethal efficiency. Another thug swung a chain at her, the metal whipping through the air.
She dodged smoothly, stepping into his range before seizing the chain and yanking it. The thug was pulled off balance, and in that split second, she twisted her blade and drove it straight into his chest.
Blood smeared the steps as the remaining men hesitated.
"Idiots! Get them!" one of the thugs barked.
Three of them lunged at once.
Haruto barely managed to sidestep the first attacker's wild punch, countering with a brutal kick to the knee.
The man screamed as his leg buckled, but before he could fall, Haruto followed up with a sharp strike to the throat. The thug gagged, stumbling back.
But Haruto was already moving to the next enemy.
The second attacker aimed a jab at his ribs, but Haruto caught the incoming punch with his forearm, twisting the man's wrist outward.
Pain flashed across the man's face, but before he could react, Haruto slammed his forehead against his nose. Blood splattered as the man crumpled onto the steps.
But the third attacker—
Haruto didn't see him in time.
A fist slammed into his gut, knocking the air from his lungs. He staggered back, his vision swimming. Another blow came from the side—a brutal strike to his ribs.
Pain exploded in his side.
His foot slipped, his balance shattered, and before he knew it, he was falling off the rail.
What do you think?
