Nexus Awakened (An Isekai LitRPG Gender Bender Story)

919. The Talk

919. The Talk

After putting them aside, and cleaning up their bedroom, Frost plopped down onto the side of the bed again, still stark naked. She then threw her back onto the bed, laying sprawled for the world to see.

“Have you ever tried sunbathing before?” Frost asked randomly.

“Never, why?”

“Nothing. I just thought the feeling would be like this. Having the cool wind blow against your skin… I bet it feels amazing.” Frost imagined herself on a beach, surrounded by the sand and the sound of the roaring ocean.

“Urgh…” She winced suddenly, the wind sandblasting her in her own fantasy. “Never mind. Bad idea.”

Jury joined her and placed her head right on Frost’s stomach. She turned until her cheek was glued to her bare skin. Then, she brought her tail and rubbed her belly alongside her hand.

“I was wondering…” Jury began cautiously.

“Mhm?”

“What would it be like… if we had…”

“Yes?” Frost asked with a level of concern.

Why was she so cautious suddenly? Was there something on her mind? A silent Jury was always a concerning sign. Either she was uncomfortable with what she wanted to say, or she was worried.

Frost brought a hand down to caress her lover’s head. They exchanged a passionate gaze. Nothing but love radiated from her eyes. There was nothing Jury had to be afraid of. Not a single word left Frost’s mouth.

If she had to wait a hundred years for Jury to find the courage to speak, then she’d happily wait. Seeing this gesture, Jury deeply swallowed, placed the petals of her tail so they were all latched onto Frost’s belly, and then –

“… a mini us…”

– She whispered. It was barely – just barely – audible. The regret immediately seeped into her eyes, afraid that the mere thought of conceiving a child was so disgusting to her that she’d…

My whole talk about my aversion to clothes… must be why she looks so distraught…

Frost wanted to clear how she felt right away.

“It’s not like I haven’t given it any thought.”

Her voice caused Jury to freeze. Her eyes slowly met with Frost’s, surprised as if she was not expecting her to react so cordially.

“Of course I’d love children.” She added.

Immediately, Jury’s earflaps rose till they were parallel with her eyebrows.

“Really!? I mean – are you sure!?”

“Yeah. I’ve never been opposed to it. Having a mini us running around the house… I’d love that.”

She was never against the idea of it. It was just that she had never verbalized her interest in it. That night before her departure to Grandis came to mind; when she stood shoulder to shoulder with Jury as they cooked dinner.

She remembered thinking: “I’d love a life like this.”, whilst also imagining children running around them. The ‘how’ was never a question she thought about, nor was she too concerned about it.

Anything was possible in this world. That enough gave her confidence that they could turn their dream into a reality.

“Ah… *hic* Frost…” Jury started crying. “Really… I was so scared you’d hate the idea…”

“No. Never. I’m… how long have you been thinking about it for?”

“Ever since we built our home.”

“That long…?”

“Mhm.”

Jury kissed her belly, then, she placed her ear against it.

“I’ve dreamed of doing this. Listening to the kicks. Hearing their little heartbeat. Frost. When we were making the manor, do you know why we wanted to make so many rooms? It wasn’t for guests.”

Frost wanted to laugh, but she felt like it’d only hurt Jury. She brushed her tears away with a thumb and smiled.

“That many children?”

“You don’t want an army of little us too?”

“I think that’s a bit too much…”

“… For a human lifespan, it is.” Jury wasn’t thinking about their life for the next ten, twenty, fifty or even a hundred years.

She looked into a future so distant that it drew the breath out of Frost.

A future that far away was incomprehensible to a human like her. There were even times when she thought that she didn’t think she’d even last that long. But…

… If it’s with Jury, then even a thousand years doesn’t sound that bad. Living that long as a human feels wrong. I still believe I’m a human in principle. I guess it’s still too early for me to be contemplating this. There’s still a lot for me to learn what it means to be… well, me.

“Is it ok to continue dreaming about it?” Jury asked.

“If your dreams include me, then it’s our dream.” Frost pulled Jury up her body until they were face to face. “So let me dream about it too~”

She nestled up to Frost like an oversized pet, her tail wrapping loops around them.

“Yep… Our dream… I asked because it feels like we’ve done so much. The world is changing, but it still keeps on getting harder. I thought what if one day it gets so hard that we can’t do anything to help the world anymore. Or what if something happens to you? Or me?”

Frost knew right away what Jury was getting at. It was when they’d have a child, rather than if. For Frost, she’d rather that they wait until everything was over.

But she had to consider what Jury was saying. What if there came a time that something happened to them and they lost the opportunity to lock their bonds further? Would it be wrong to bring a child into this kind of world? In the state that it was currently in?

Frost wracked her mind over this, to the point where she winced, groaned, and eventually…

“Eh…?”

Tears tumbled down her cheeks. She thought about the life that child would have if the world were to bear its fangs towards them. The despair that child would feel in this type of world. Ideally, they be there to help them. But the what ifs kept on pouring in like an incessant rain.

“Frost!?”

Frost’s hair grew. Grey strands accompanied her black hair, concealing her sorrowful eyes.

“It’s… nothing. All this thinking just… Shit. I don’t know… Knowing what the state of the world is… how many enemies we have – the fact that Stars exist… Then what will happen to them? I’m sorry. Ignorance really is a bliss. If we didn’t know better…” Frost couldn’t put her thoughts into words.

But Jury swooped in to shed some light on her dark.

“Regardless, we’d all be happy and try to preserve it for as long as we can. It’s a privilege to know what’s happening around us, but it’s also a curse. We have a long time to think about it. So don’t cry, Frost. Please… or you’ll make me cry too.”

It took a while before Frost could calm down. She had seen tragedy after tragedy befall children in Elysia. The Derma Layer, the Escape, the City of Spades, Scarlet Logic, Healers, the triplets… Jury… Who could blame Frost for wanting to withhold having children until it was fixed?

The Nexus wasn’t even safe as Impuritas could teleport in and begin an invasion.

Still, a part of her desired it. And it was for that reason that Frost felt ashamed.

But was it something to be ashamed of?

She didn’t know. Jury assured her that it wasn’t.

The Isolation Sphere surrounding the Floor of Amalgamation gave them all the time in the world to recover. Hours later, the still naked Frost reverted to her normal form. The tears disappeared as she came to terms with her thoughts.

“When it happens, it’ll happen. Right now might not be a good time, but… Yeah. Jury. Thanks.”

Frost sat nearest to the curtains. The warm, natural light bounced off her bare flesh as she held onto her knees, leaning into them with reprieve. She wore a satisfied look, savoring the moment before grinning up at Jury.

“Now for the real question – how would it work?”

Jury sat behind her; her arms wrapped around her waist.

“My tail will work. I just need to figure out the compound.”

Jury waved her tail in front of Frost’s face, the petals opening once again to reveal a strangely… red, meaty organ. It wasn’t phallic in shape per say, but it would certainly serve the same purpose.

“Yeah, ok. Jury. ‘Compound’. Weird way to say semen.” Frost said out loud.

“Hmm.” Jury growled.

“What, don’t like that word?” She teased, poking the tip of Jury’s organ.

It dribbled with what Frost knew was a sweet juice. She recognized it by scent, since she drank from it once. Or twice. Probably more, now that she thought about.

Although, it was a bit… creamy, so to speak. Sticky. Like…

“Are you getting excited?”

“… It is a sensitive organ. But it’s not what you think either. I’m just changing the consistency.” Jury claimed, although, her ragged breathing was not adding up.

Plus, she was holding Frost much more tightly now.

“I can change its shape too. I don’t think…” Jury trailed off, bringing the organ close to Frost’s face. “… it’ll be comfortable for you.”

Silence.

Frost was expecting Jury to go further, but after a minute, she suddenly sealed the organ and pulled away from her.

“Eh?”

“… L-Let’s hurry. We’re already short on time!” Jury swiftly left for the door.

“But we don’t leave until another few hours. Jury? Huh?”

*Slam*

Before she knew it, she was left in the room alone and naked.

“… what the…?”

Frost puffed air into her cheeks and pouted with disappointment.

“It’s not like I would’ve minded. The mood was there and everything. I wonder what came over her.”

But unbeknownst to Frost –

– She was a hair away from seeing an untapped side of Jury’s lust.
