Night of Despair

Chapter 110: Electric Motor One - Alliance Hierarch

Chapter 110: Electric Motor One – Alliance Hierarch

The massive helmet shattering sound was especially clear in the corridor, its echo resounding.

Behind him, the bulky wild chicken held hammers in both hands, his face twisted into a vicious smile as he drew out his hammer.

“Idiot, you didn’t even notice me getting this close, how did someone like you live until now?”

But soon, the smile on his face quickly disappeared.

Because Yu Hong remained standing still, no screams of pain, no staggering, no falling to the ground.

He simply turned his head, looked at the wild chicken, and through the goggles, one could faintly make out that not even a hint of surprise crossed his face.

...

“What was that sound just now? So loud?” Yu Hong asked.

“…” Cold sweat broke out on the wild chicken’s back. “You…! You bastard…”

“I’m looking for the power supply room, can you lead the way?” Yu Hong spoke.

“…Power supply room?” The wild chicken’s sweat increased, he guessed right away that this person was here for the nuclear energy machine, just like those who had been lured before.

“Yeah, I’m here to take the nuclear energy machine that was given to me,” Yu Hong replied, his eyes locked on the wild chicken through the goggles.

“You won’t stop me from taking what’s mine, will you?”

“I… I…” The wild chicken’s eyes were bloodshot, his body hair stood on end, feeling as if some terrifying beast had set its sights on him, causing goosebumps to surface all over his body. His blood was accelerating, his heart pounding, and his breathing felt dizzy.

He was also an individual with augmented strength. Even when facing the leader Black Crow, he didn’t feel as oppressed as he did at this moment.

As the second-best fighter in the Black Crow Team, he was only a notch behind Black Crow in combat skills and speed of attack. In a real fight, given the right conditions, he could barely defeat Black Crow.

That was also why he did not really respect Black Crow and had tried to usurp his position multiple times.

But now…

Now…

His pride in his augmented physique and combat instincts was feeling crushed in the presence of this person!

Absolute oppression!

It was like the fear he felt when he faced a Level 4 Multi-eyed Bird alone for the first time.

Outside exit number two.

Gunshots, shouts, and the clashing of weapons were all a chaotic mess.

Lang Feng and Xiao Feng were teaming up against the strongest Black Crow, while the other three were engaged in combat with the augmented individuals from Black Crow Team surrounding them.

Bullets were stopped by bulletproof suits; they were useless against fighters of their caliber. If they didn’t have armor-piercing rounds, the heavy weapons in their hands were the only real way to threaten their enemies.

Boom!

A sudden muffled sound, Xiao Feng was kicked away, rolling and sliding on the ground, one hand gripping the earth while blood continuously flowed from his nose and mouth under the helmet.

At the same time, Lang Feng was hit on the shoulder by a stick, the immense impact force of it, even through the cushioning layer and thin alloy plate inside the bulletproof vest, caused his shoulder to hurt and his bones to faintly show signs of cracking.

Lang Feng quickly retreated, widening the distance, and gently moved his shoulder while holding it.

“Foer’s mastery of stick techniques?”

“Heh, you have good eyesight.” Black Crow waved his long staff, whooshing a circle of shadows with it.

He also discreetly moved his right knee joint, which was the spot that had been hit multiple times by Xiao Feng.

“The augmentation quality is only the foundation, what really determines our strength is the mastery of combat skills,” he said.

His physique was indeed stronger than the other two, but the advantage was limited. Amongst the powered individuals, there was a huge gap between localized augmentation and full-body augmentation, but he wasn’t fully augmented, especially not his head.

Therefore, he couldn’t wrestle with a car or lift two tons of rock with his bare hands, but likewise, he didn’t have to worry about radiation damaging his intellect, becoming psychotic or intellectually disabled.

“Interesting…” Lang Feng exhaled, swallowing a mouthful of blood. “I’ve killed two full-body augmented monsters as well. I too am partially augmented, today I want to see just how strong your damn combat skills are.”

He held his shield in one hand, raising it to cover his face. He assumed a somewhat strange combat stance.

“After all, it’s all for the nuclear energy machine. A bunch of hypocrites,” Black Crow sneered.

Before his words faded, he took the initiative to rush toward Lang Feng.

Between them, a series of dull thuds exploded rapidly, with the long staff striking the shield of Lang Feng like a disc, swiftly hitting from various angles.

The shield and the blade were like a turtle shell, defending for a few breaths before suddenly countering. But this outbreak made Black Crow extremely uncomfortable; the damage couldn’t be blocked even by his bulletproof suit, forcing him to retreat and dodge dangerously to avoid being cut.

Both sides fought fiercely, all for the nuclear energy machine.

In the end, the numbers were in Black Crow’s favor, gradually injuring Lang Feng and his teammates.

A few minutes later, Black Crow swept with his stick, the shadow of the staff explosively grew, unexpectedly extending in length by releasing over ten centimeters of a hidden length from its end.

This unexpected weapon extension caught Lang Feng and his ally off guard.

Boom!

Xiao Feng was hit by the staff on the neck and flung away, unable to get up.

Lang Feng managed to block with his shield, but the extended length of the staff struck his forehead obliquely, causing the helmet to dent and shatter, and his head reeled backward stunned, dodging in a stagger.

Black Crow laughed, withdrew his staff, and rushed towards the rest of Lang Feng’s subordinates with an aggressive posture.

After pushing back several of them, he quickly got into a car.

“Let’s go!”

The Black Crow Team members quickly boarded their vehicles, leaving a few behind to cover their getaway. Before long, they caught up with the accelerating cars, grabbed the ropes thrown down by their companions, and easily climbed aboard.

Without Lang Feng and his companion’s interference, the remaining people didn’t dare to pursue any further; they could only watch helplessly as the convoy drove away.

“Damn it!” Xiao Feng angrily punched the ground. “So close!”

“If Huaijun had acted with us, nothing like this would have happened!” Lang Feng clenched his teeth, clutching his injured shoulder, eyes fixed on the departing convoy.

“How can Black Crow be so arrogant and unscrupulous in luring and killing people? Can’t someone stop him!?” Xiao Feng raged.

“The United Forces are too busy with their own problems to protect the major cities, let alone care about us survivors in these outposts!” Lang Feng retorted.

“Feng, should we shoot out the tires?” asked a woman in a red suit from behind them, speaking softly.

“We can’t hold them. Black Crow’s strength exceeds our expectations,” Lang Feng shook his head. “Had he not been wary of attracting the United Forces’ elite, in a head-on fight, we would be no match.”

He glanced at the bodies lying on the ground; they had lost one elite fighter, while Black Crow had lost four. But their fallen was an elite, whereas the other side had lost only foot soldiers.

“So we just watch him take the nuclear power engine??” Xiao Feng asked, puzzled.

“Where did you say the nuclear power engine was?” Suddenly, a voice came from behind them.

“On the truck!” Xiao Feng yelled back impatiently. “Can’t you see? The third truck!!”

Whoosh!!!

Suddenly, a dark figure burst forth from behind them, chasing the convoy through the forest like a whirling wind.

Lang Feng and Xiao Feng, along with four others, were startled. When they turned around, they saw a sturdy man dressed in what seemed to be a gray lizard suit, sprinting madly towards the three distant trucks.

The man was so fast that he was slightly quicker than the trucks.

“A man actually running faster than a car!?”

“What the hell!!?” @@novelbin@@

Lang Feng and the others stared dumbfounded at the scene,

Not just them; the Black Crow Team members on the third truck also heard the noise and looked back to see someone actually chasing the truck and gaining on it rapidly.

“An enhanced human?? Are you looking for death?” Black Crow laughed out loud. He drew his gun and aimed at the pursuer.

Bang!

The bullet struck the pursuer’s suit, sparking only a few sparks.

“….!!” Black Crow’s smile instantly froze. “That’s supposed to be a lizard suit, right? How could it be so tough?!”

He couldn’t be bothered to waste words with the pursuer; the man was too fast, and while Black Crow might enjoy a bout under normal circumstances, with Lang Feng and the others behind them, getting delayed and then faced with more fighters might make it hard for him to escape.

“Speed up!” Black Crow shouted. “Lose him!”

“You got it!” the driver ahead responded.

Black Crow turned his head back, took aim again, and fired consecutive shots.

Bang bang bang bang.

He quickly used up his last rounds, but the bullets did little more than dent the man’s suit.

“You’re lucky, you fool. If it were any other time, I’d claim your suit for myself!” Black Crow tossed his gun aside, feeling the vehicle accelerate and pull away, he relaxed and taunted the man.

“Goodbye, hope you’re just as lucky next time.” He waved at the man.

“Give me back my engine!”

Suddenly, with a roar, Black Crow’s vision blurred as he saw the man surge forward with a leap-like motion, close in on the vehicle, grab onto the edge of the truck, and forcefully kick up his leg.

“Return it to me!!!!”

Boom!!!

The man swept his leg low, striking the rapidly spinning rear tire.

The tire deformed on the spot, squeezed, and burst like a balloon under pressure.

Boom!!!

The truck rolled over immediately, with Black Crow and his men aboard, heads spinning, completely stunned. They didn’t have time to react before tumbling with the overturned vehicle, which then skidded forward a distance before crashing into two large trees.

Bang!!

The severe impact left half of the four people in the vehicle dead on impact, while Black Crow and another subordinate, Hei Mu, were trapped by twisted metal inside the vehicle.

“Damn it! What the hell? A Blood Tide Monster!?” Black Crow struggled to free the iron plate on his chest, took a breath, and pulled Hei Mu out with him.

His physical strength was extraordinary; the crash had only slightly injured him, but the shock to his psyche was far greater than the physical pain.

That was a two-ton truck’s wheel spinning at high speeds!

And someone had just kicked and burst a tire at such a velocity?

Such an insane act, not even those fully enhanced freaks would dare such a feat, right? Wasn’t he afraid of having his leg torn off??

Black Crow climbed out of the truck and stood up, only to shudder as he spotted that man standing behind the truck’s cargo space.

The man was tearing at the cargo doors with both hands.

Crash!

He brutally tore the cargo door off and tossed it aside, beginning to check the state of the engine.

Black Crow’s heart raced, and without hitting him, Black Crow already judged that he was no match for the other’s strength.

He certainly wouldn’t be that violent opening cargo doors.

Exhaling a foul breath, he quietly bent his body, gripping the similarly scared-pale Hei Mu, and they both retreated toward the depths of the forest unseen by the man.

He was certain that this man must be an enhanced human with mental issues, and only such a creature could have performed the bizarre act they had just witnessed.
