Nightmare Assault

Chapter 354: Business

Chapter 354: Business

“Doctor,” Fatty wiggled his butt on the couch. He looked so anxious. He licked his lips and asked softly, “They have all departed to search for clues. Should… we just wait and do nothing?”

Jiang Cheng took a sip of the cold Coca-Cola and narrowed his head. He leaned on the couch and burped happily.

Fatty, “... Doctor, we…”

“You can go if you want to,” Jiang Cheng said, putting down half the soft drink bottle. He interrupted Fatty, “I’m not moving.” They were resting in Fatty’s room. Jiang Cheng complained that the weather was hot and the sun was blinding. He was worried for his skin. He paced around but couldn’t find any sunscreen. He huffed and grumbled that the previous tenants were horrible people.

Thankfully, the fridge was stocked. Other than some frozen food, there were soft drinks and mineral water. There was half a box of instant noodles in the kitchen.

Fatty hesitated as he thought about what the Doctor said. He lowered his voice, “Doctor, I think I understand why you’re not going to look for clues.”

Jiang Cheng gave him a look, waiting for him to continue.

“I mean.” Fatty moved closer to be intimate with the Doctor, “If we leave to look for clues, we have to work with the others. And they would be…” Fatty pointed up. “Those two.”

“I’m not scared of Chen Yi!” Jiang Cheng groused, “Back then, she had all the advantages, but she is not my match now. Hmph!”

“That’s not what I mean.” Fatty waved his hands. “Doctor, can you let me finish?

“Yesterday night, the ghost probably had killed someone and took on their disguise. You’re worried that the person could be Chu Jiu. If we team up with them, we’ll be in danger.” Fatty asked Jiang Cheng, “You are not confident in Chu Jiu, right?”

Jiang Cheng tilted his head as he stared at Fatty. He raised two fingers.

“Two points.” Fatty nodded as he reached for the notebook. “Doctor, please. I’m listening.”

“First.” Jiang Cheng wagged his finger. “If someone died yesterday night, the victim was most likely Chu Jiu.”

Fatty swallowed. He glanced at the door before turning back. “Why?”

“Because of the three, she was the only one who left the room,” Jiang Cheng answered.

Fatty was startled. Then, he nodded. The Doctor was right. Chu Jiu was chased out of her room by the ghost, but strangely, the ghost stopped when she left the front door. The elder at the reception warned them to stay in their rooms at night. That might be a taboo.

“But…” Fatty frowned. “Chen Yi also left her room. She even ran into Chu Jiu.”

Holding Fatty’s gaze, Jiang Cheng sighed slowly, “That is the second point.” He paused, “And the thing that worries me the worst.”

Fatty’s eyes widened.

Banana Wolf stood before a building. He looked at it before turning back to say, “This should be the place.” His three teammates stood behind him.

Hua Luo had beautiful eyes and wore a long dress. Wan Xiaoning wore simple attire and didn’t say much. Yu Lan, the language teacher, was very shy. She wore a pair of white leather shoes. The three stood in a row and grabbed a lot of attention from the males. The passerby would never imagine that the tallest among the three with a pouty lip was a male.

This place was quite crowded, at least in comparison to Ping An Apartments. There were some nearby stalls but there was not that many customers. A lot of buildings were stuck with the ‘Soon to Demolish’ posters. This place would be demolished soon.

Accompanied by his teammates, Banana Wolf ransacked his room. Finally, under the couch where the hand came out, they found a folded paper note. It was a water utility bill. The name on the bill was a shop called Sunshine Story. It was located in the building before them. However, the shop was down in the basement. This building used to be a shopping mall.

“Shouldn’t this place be abandoned?” Yu Lan asked.

At that moment, the door of the mall, which was covered in white papers, was pushed open. A few people walked out, carrying a lot of things. The last two carried a person each. They had a head in each hand. It was horrifying. Thankfully, they were only transporting mannequins.

Someone who looked like the security guard held the door open for them. It was windy outside.

The group of travellers walked over.

“Hello.” Banana Wolf asked, “Is there a shop called Sunshine Story here?”

The guard scanned them with wariness. He grumbled, “Why do you want to know?”

“We saw the rental notices for this place. We wanted to see if the location here is good or not.” Wan Xiaoning offered. Her voice was not as impressive as her body, but her voice was gentle and reliable.

The balding and slightly hunched guard burst into smiles when he saw the three girls behind Banana Wolf. “Are you here to rent a shop? Wonderful. Let me tell you. We might not be in the city centre, but we have a good flow of customers. We have a lot of elders around here. You know that elders don’t know how to use the internet and prefer to frequent physical shops…”

“Please lead the way,” Wan Xiaoning nodded. “Thank you.”

The guard had to shut up. Even though the girl was very friendly… there was something strange about her. She didn’t seem to like to socialise.

However, this was nothing to the guard. He was only hired two days ago. The mall was shutting down. The boss didn’t know how to run the business and had already escaped with the money and his mistresses.

The person who took over told the guard that he’d get a lot of commission if he could rent a single lot out.

In the past few days, people came to move things out of the mall and not into it. The guard thought he’d have to find a new job soon.

But…

Business came

“Of course.” The guard smiled so fakely that Banana Wolf shivered. He carried a backpack that contained the broken arm and the big knife.
