Chapter 362: Video

The man didn’t notice that all the people before him glanced at the drawer. Wei Jingting’s expression shifted.

“What happened after that?” Liu Guo asked.

The man waved to stop Liu Guo from interrupting him. He took a deep breath and continued, “I was a bit mad. I told Maoshen to shut up or leave. It was around 9 or 10 pm.” The man added, “Maoshen was scared when he heard I would chase him away. He lowered his head and stopped talking.

“I took out some blankets from the dresser and told him to sleep on the couch. Actually, my room is upstairs. You only need to go up the stairs and take a right. However, Maoshen refused to accept my offer,” The man explained. “I pitied him, so I stayed to accompany him.” He pointed at the opposite couch. “I slept over there. I was so tired so I went down quickly. I was woken up by a strange sound in the middle of the night. Once I opened my eyes, the room was dark. However, I was sure the lights were on before I slept.

“I sat up instantly. He reached out to Maoshen, but he was not there.” The man frowned. “I panicked but I didn’t dare to call his name. The darkness unsettled me. I slowly found my way to the light switch and flipped it on.

“Then, I realised Maoshen had left the room. The strange sound… came from the dresser. It was a shaking sound. I gathered my courage and pulled the dresser door open. Maoshen was hiding in there. His eyes were glaring at me. He curled up deep inside. I had to use a lot of energy to yank him out.

“He was so scared. He couldn’t stop shaking.

“Before I could ask him what was wrong, he started to cry. He said he was wrong and that it had returned to find him!

“I told him to calm down. I wanted to contact a doctor for him. I’d send him over once the sun came up. However, he said it was pointless. It had targeted him. Then, he slowly pulled up the legs of his pants…” Then, the man rigidly moved his neck.

Liu Guo whispered, “What did you see?”

“Imprints!” The man gasped. There were five bloody scratch marks on his ankle. Someone dug them out with their nails!

“Shenmao was not joking. That thing… was in this room!”

On the second floor of a small cafe, a few small tables were pushed together. Around ten people sat and stood around them. They basically booked the entire floor.

Chen Yi stopped writing. She looked at Liu Guo. “Is there anything else?”

Liu Guo nodded. “Lee Maoshen was a livestreamer before he was killed. Based on what Manager Zhao said, the thing that troubled Lee Maoshen was his previous job.”

“What job?”

Liu Guo sighed. “He was a horror livestreamer.”

“Lee Maoshen entered the career late. The market was overpopulated. Therefore, he chose a specific niche.” Wei Jingting said, “He focused on supernatural topics to grab attention and fans.”

“Is that how he got haunted by a ghost?” Hua Luo raised his brow. It was reasonable. This is a common plot in most horror movies. It was often for young people to explore haunted houses and then killed.

“Do you have vods of his original streams?” Banana Wolf asked. The blade never left his hand. He placed it under his armpit even when he used the bathroom. No one dared to stand beside him to pee.

Liu Guo shook his head. “No. Manager Zhao said that even though Lee Maoshen’s videos had many views, due to the intense horrors, he was often reported. Before he struck it big, he was permanently banned.” This was not good news. If the travellers could watch the original vods, they might know the history of the ghost.

“Okay.” Chen Yi opened her book and said officiously, “Now, let us summarise everything we have found.” She glanced at Chu Jiu. “The ghost in Building One’s Room 707 is called Zhao Lijia. Her preferred method of offense is hair.”

Chu Jiu nodded. She spent the day searching for clues with Chen Yi. However, due to time constraints, she missed out on some details.

“The ghost in Building Two’s Room 404 is called Song Jianyou. She was a university student. She worked part-time at a manicure shop and a wig shop. She died inside the underground storage of a mall.” Chen Yi read from her book. “Yu Lan died there too. This ghost attacked with long nails.”

“That should be the case.” Wan Xiaoning interrupted, “But they might not be entirely true.”

Wan Xiaoning didn’t explain, but everyone understood why. This was information given by Song Jianyou in disguise.

Chen Yi jotted down a mark. She moved on. “The ghost in Building Three’s Room 503 is called Lee Maoshen. He was a livestream. It’s believed that he attracted the ghost’s attention by doing horror livestreams.

“He should be the eyes hiding behind doors and inside drawers.” Chen Yi spoke slowly but surely. It was very convincing. It was related to her work experience.

Jiang Cheng fiddled with the spoon in his cup. “If that’s the order, the nail ghost in Building Two was killed by the long-haired ghost in Building One. While the peeping ghost in Building Three was killed by the nail ghost in Building Two.” He turned around to address Liu Guo. “Is that it?”

“That should be it.” Liu Guo nodded. “Based on what Manager Zhao said, Lee Maoshen died a horrible death. His body was scratched and shredded into shreds. His face was unrecognisable. Only his one eye was left staring. It felt like he saw something horrible before he died.”

“Where was his place of death?” Jiang Cheng asked.

“He didn’t tell us. We only knew it was inside a very small dresser. It should be at a hostel or a rental home.” Liu Guo analysed. “It was his neighbour who reported the stench to the police. When he was found, his corpse had melted into the dresser. His only eye was stuck to the gap in the door, looking out.”
