Nightmare Mythos

Chapter 202 Pissed Nightmare

"Arghhhhh!"

Somewhere beneath the Mayor's mansion, a loud scream resonated throughout the very basement that could've pierced through some of the ears that were merely listening to it. However, humans and the remaining survivors that are still in the city were sleeping soundly in a huge cocoon.

Because of the cover that was all around them, what remained on the outside of his domain stayed on the outside.

The only that could've pierced by that scream could've been the same entity that shouted that agonized scream.

It was no other than the Nightmare that controlled the human monsters, something that had been made from its power, and an entity that quite held the city over some time since the war had started.

His job was relatively easy since all he had to do was to get the 'perfect time' to strike the moment he received orders from 'Her'.

Until then, everything had to wait.

However, that mission was jeopardized when someone managed to slip through his power from the cocoon and accomplished to cause a scene on where he lived. That was the reason why the Mansion was destroyed because of their confrontation.

The worst part of the scene is that the person who slipped through his power managed to alert the Army.

It was brief and short, something that they might not even notice something amiss since the request has been also altered by the Nightmare.

The Nightmare thought it was impossible for someone to come at a request where the requirement was hard labor since it wasn't the things that those soldiers were expecting to take and wanted to deliver it to someone else.

But an idiot was interested in doing the mission, and he did it with flying colors.

However, the Nightmare instantly realized the human was very strong.

He was the first one to notice the human monsters from the countless victims that had fallen under its grasp.

And it was all due to one of his eyes glowing faintly.

The Nightmare saw it crystal clear.

When he met those eyes, as if a primal fear has been born inside him. It wasn't even something that existed way before as he was the top of the food chain within their group.

However, that changed when he met Cesar Sparrow.

The human monsters that he had to use to attack Cesar and trap him in some mansion had all gone to waste when he exploded them into bits.

And now the location of Cesar was unknown to him.

"Where… is… that… guy!"

The Nightmare used every human monster in his possession to find Cesar, another problem that appeared not long ago after someone managed to escape through his grasp.

"Find… him!"

The human monsters roamed all around the city something that they hadn't done when they were merely just 'normal'

Now, all of them flew around the air, running fast as if they were a wild beast that had been let loose to find the perpetrator, and digging into the grounds like they were no tomorrow.

In just a minute, the city has turned around into a wasteland as the last thing the Nightmare would want is a leakage of his existence to the Army. Continue reading on My Virtual Library Empire

If the enemy caught wind of this situation, a Nightmare just staying in a city suspiciously, and they discovered that it had been here for quite some time now, the Army will have no choice but to bring all of their forces into the city to exterminate just one Nightmare.

It should not even happen in the first place and must be kept under wraps if they want to hope that their plan will succeed.

All of this was being done by the single Nightmare alone.

If it was a novice that was trying to catch a human, they would've already exhausted most of their essence as their souls might get emptied right in an instant.

But the Nightmare knew what he was doing.

That's why after a few minutes of turning the city upside down to get the mission done right away, the Nightmare was able to spot the human named Cesar Sparrow.

The location of where he found him was bizarre which made the Nightmare react differently to it.

"What?!"

Whoosh—!

In his vision whether the human monster was flying around the air, running around the city, or digging underground, all he could see was that same scene as all of their attention was directed to it.

And Cesar was carrying two of its superficial fires, almost the same quality as the one he had used to destroy the previous mansion as he had fallen down in the air with great speed.

Whoosh—!

And the most surprising thing about his fall is the location of his landing point where it was directed no other than the mayor's mansion that the Nightmare was using to hide itself.

It made the Nightmare shiver.

After all, he witnessed how those fires destroyed the mansion and had an influence on his own abilities and some of his human monsters as if they weren't by his power in the first place.

But even if the Nightmare conjured something very fast, the way Cesar was falling and the two weapons he was wielding were enough to cause him grave damage, the monster knew he didn't have that much time left to add protective layers.

Boooooom—!

And the result of Cesar's reckless action already manifested right in front of its gaze.

The mayor's city received the full damage of two of the newly superficial fires of Cesar.

It was now burning red as blood as the debris and chunks of pieces were scattered around the place, leaving only nothing but destruction and desolation from Cesar's attack.

The reason why Cesar attacked the mayor's mansion was because he was almost sure that the entity he was fighting, the owner of the human monsters, something that he considers a Nightmare was hiding underneath it.

Cesar already felt weird when he discovered that the city walls weren't damaged and the only one that needed the hard labor was no other than the place the Nightmare was living in.

Cesar felt weird when he thought about the fact that he was helping the Nightmare rebuild its own home where it was probably used to kill the other humans that were alive in the previous situation of the city.

It made him almost puke and the idea kept bugging his mind which is why the start of his attack was to destroy the mayor's residence and force the Nightmare out in the open.

'It's all coming to plan...'

Before even planning on doing the reckless action by himself when he should've waited for a rescue as it involved a Nightmare that might be an Intermediate or Higher Nightmare creature, Cesar already disclosed the situation he was facing to the Army by calling the same communicator to update the situation.

And all he had to do was tell that a Nightmare was in the Egter City and the people behind the Army would come running at this place in no time.

The last thing Cesar would want though was to late the Nightmare escape from his grasp when he was holding it in his chokehold now.

Watching the mess he made, something that he had been experiencing for a while now since the only thing that he had left on a battlefield was nothing but desolation, Cesar clicked his tongue as the Nightmare he was trying to fish out was nowhere to be seen.

At least he wasn't in a place where he would leave himself exposed in the open.

Cesar would've really put his evaluation of the Nightmare to a Lesser grade since it would not be dumb enough to really use its body to stay in the lobby itself.

Cesar created another superficial fire on his hand, something that had been easy job for him since the time he discovered the way to use it perfectly, he readied it as he went deeper into the once-mayor's residence.

Fully alert and aware that a single mistake could put his life into danger, Cesar asked Cedeit out in a open, trying to probe if this was any other Origin Nightmare they were fighting.

"Oh one and only great, Deceit that rules over the Nightmares, something they were afraid of, who dares to mess your authority that you wielded?"

As if annoyed at the way that tone appeared and came out from his mouth, Cedeit clicked his tongue and confirmed his suspicions.

"The Nightmare this time isn't someone on the caliber of the Origin Nightmares. Judging the way it uses essence and how efficient it is, it is a Higher Nightmare Creature. Be careful, it's not something to mess about,"

Cesar smirked and wanted to reply from that as he felt reassured it wasn't a Nightmare on their caliber when the ground shook violently.

Rumble—!

The floors of the once residence of the Mayor resounded through the bones of Cesar as he stepped back.

And a gigantic Nightmare sprung about the ground and attack him.

It seemed the Nightmare was pissed about him and didn't want to chit chat which Cesar wanted to do since he just had to buy time.

Booom—!
