Not All Heroes From Earth Are Bad

Chapter 19

“Everyone run!”

Hyun-seok shouted loudly.

As if that shout was a signal flare, the cooking soldiers began to run.

“Aaaaah!”

“It’s a monster!!!”

The cooking soldiers scattered in all directions like cockroaches scurrying when the living room light is turned on.

Of course, the Queen Talas wasn’t just watching this scene.

The queen’s legs, over ten meters long, shot out like arrows.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

The cooking soldiers started getting skewered on her legs like kebabs.

“Kelton! Sorry! I’ll definitely make your corpse into boiled meat!”

“G-get lost…!”

The cooking soldiers fled, leaving their dying comrades behind.

Since there was no camaraderie to begin with, there was no guilt either.

“Grrrrrr…!”

The queen growled lowly while watching the fleeing cooking soldiers.

She needed to kill all these creatures to avenge her offspring.

But she couldn’t do it alone.

Realizing this fact, the queen let out a monstrous cry.

“Kieeeeeeeeeeee-!”

The entire forest trembled at the queen’s cry.

Some cooking soldiers collapsed on the spot from the magic-infused scream.

Hyun-seok also staggered and grabbed a tree.

“How can her voice be so loud?”

Just as he was looking at the queen in bewilderment.

Sha sha sha sha…!

The sound of rustling grass began to come from all directions.

Hyun-seok looked around with uneasy eyes.

“This doesn’t look good…”

Sha sha sha sha sha sha sha sha sha!

The noise gradually grew louder.

Trees and grass all around shook frantically.

It was as if the entire forest was moving.

“Kieek…!!!”

Finally, the source of the noise was revealed.

“Holy shit!”

Hundreds of Talas!

And they weren’t babies like the ones they had just hunted, but full-grown adults.

Though not as big as the queen who was larger than an elephant, they were still the size of decent-sized cars.

With hundreds of such creatures rushing in from all directions, everything went dark before their eyes.

“H-hero! What do we do now!?”

Rachel panicked.

“Kulkan! We need to find Kulkan!”

Hyun-seok gritted his teeth.

The Combat Power of the Talas currently visible averaged around 8,000.

In contrast, Kulkan’s combat power exceeded 30,000.

He should at least be able to clear a path.

“Kieee!”

Just then, a Talas swung its leg at him.

Hyun-seok quickly threw his body backward.

Whoosh!

The sharp foreleg brushed past his face.

The Talas didn’t stop its attack.

Swish! Whoosh!

Sharp forelegs came flying in.

Getting stabbed would mean becoming a fresh kebab for sure.

While barely dodging the attacks, Hyun-seok’s eyes gleamed.

‘Even though the combat power difference is huge… This might be doable!’

After all, he was the one who knocked out Golbakkeum with a single hit.

Maybe he could handle the Talas too.

Ta-at, tat!

Hyun-seok dodged while looking for an opening.

‘Now!’

The moment its leg passed before his eyes.

He swung his kitchen knife at the leg.

Clang!

A noise like striking metal rang out.

Hyun-seok shuddered as if electricity was coursing through his entire body.

“Urrrgh…”

The grip holding the kitchen knife almost tore away.

Although I clearly attacked, it felt like I was the one being attacked.

“This won’t work! Let’s run!”

That was enough to understand the situation.

Hyun-seok turned around immediately.

“Where the hell did Kulkan go!?”

As expected, finding Kulkan was the only answer.

He frantically looked around.

KWANG!

“Over there!”

Fortunately, he could spot Kulkan causing a commotion not far away.

PUNG!

Although he was the first to run away, Kulkan was indeed the head chef.

The Talas hit by Kulkan’s fist exploded outward.

It was strength on a different level from other kitchen soldiers.

Kulkan was advancing forward, smashing Talas with such tremendous power.

“As expected, a power level of 35,000 doesn’t come from nowhere!”

Hyun-seok hurriedly headed toward where Kulkan was.

He planned to escape through the path Kulkan was clearing.

However, he wasn’t the only one who had this idea.

“Chef Ku-Kulkan! Please save me!”

“Uwaaaaang! Chef!!!”

The kitchen soldiers were also running toward Kulkan.

Among them were some strong enough to defeat Talas, but none dared to fight.

There were too many enemies, and the queen possessed an untouchable strength.

In this situation, their only hope was their leader.

“Th-This…!”

Kulkan was startled seeing his subordinates running toward him.

“Don’t come! The queen is coming this way!”

“Chef! Save us!”

“Uwaaaa! Get lost!”

Kulkan began clearing the path more frantically.

Hyun-seok quickly followed behind Kulkan.

“Kieeeeeeee!”

The queen was also approaching this area where most kitchen soldiers were gathered.

KUNG KUNG KUNG KUNG KUNG KUNG!

The sight of a spider as large as a decent-sized commercial building running toward them was horror itself.

The queen quickly caught up to the kitchen soldiers and began stabbing them one by one.

“Kueeek!”

“Kuaaang!”

The screams of kitchen soldiers impaled by the queen’s legs echoed.

Hyun-seok grew anxious.

‘At this rate, everyone will die.’

Once the queen caught up, being behind Kulkan was no longer safe.

Hyun-seok frantically looked around.

‘Somewhere to hide…’

At that moment, something caught Hyun-seok’s eye.

‘A cave!’

A fairly large cave was visible through the grass.

It was large enough for an adult Talas to pass through.

‘The queen definitely can’t enter.’

It would be trouble if adult Talas followed, but still better than being chased by the queen.

He couldn’t die just running away, so he decided to take the gamble.

‘It’s worth trying.’

With everyone frantically running away, no one would notice him breaking from the group.

“Uwaa! Everyone get lost!”

Moreover, the Talas’ attention was fixed on the rampaging Kulkan.

It was the perfect situation to escape secretly.

Sha-shak!

Hyun-seok discreetly changed direction.

No one followed him.

“Huk, huk…”

Having entered the cave in an instant, Hyun-seok breathed heavily.

“Did I lose them…?”

Hyun-seok carefully looked outside the cave.

“Kuaaaaaaa!”

“Kieeek!”

“Stop following me! You bastards!”

Outside was still pure chaos.

Fortunately, no one was paying attention to this place.

Hidden by the grass, it seemed no one had discovered it.

“Haah… I’m alive…”

Hyun-seok sighed in relief.

He wanted to sit down and rest right away.

‘Still, I have to keep moving.’

But there was no time to rest.

He needed to escape quickly, not knowing when other kitchen soldiers or Talas might come here.

“Hero, are you going in here?”

“Have to.”

“Do you know what’s inside?”

“Should we go outside then?”

At Hyun-seok’s question, Rachel looked outside.

“Kuaaaa!”

“Kieeee!”

Another kitchen soldier became a skewer.

“Let’s go inside!”

“Right.”

It was an incredibly quick agreement.

***

“How far do we have to go?”

“I wonder…”

Hyun-seok slowly entered the cave.

Each step was extremely cautious, not knowing what might be inside.

“Still, it’s fortunate. Doesn’t seem like anyone’s following us.”

Quite some time had passed since entering the cave.

Now the outside noise was only faintly audible.

Fortunately, there didn’t seem to be any other visitors here.

“Hero, what if there’s an incredibly strong monster living in here?”

“What’s with that suddenly?”

“Isn’t it strange that no one entered when there’s such an obvious cave?”

“Everyone was in a hurry. And it wasn’t that obvious. I was just lucky to find it.”

“Hmm… But what if the truth is that no one comes in because there’s a super strong monster living here…”

“Tsk! Are you going to keep saying unlucky things?”

Hyun-seok frowned as he looked at her.

Rachel turned her head with a pouty expression.

“I was just worried…”

He could understand Rachel’s feelings.

Although Hyun-seok had gotten stronger in a short time, he was still a rookie.

It would be strange not to worry, considering this forest was crawling with monsters that even kitchen soldiers couldn’t handle alone.

“What’s this…?”

Hyun-seok stopped.

A huge cavity had appeared before him.

“This doesn’t seem like just an ordinary cave…”

The cavity’s size appeared as large as a decent-sized soccer field at first glance.

An unidentifiable space.

“I’ll go check it out first.”

Rachel entered the cavity first and looked around.

“Can you see anything?”

“No. It’s just an empty space with nothing in it.”

“Really?”

Hyun-seok carefully entered the cavity while looking around.

“It’s really wide.”

“It is.”

Even the height was enormous.

“A space this size could even let the queen Talas pass through.”

“Yeah…”

A space where even the enormously sized queen Talas could move without difficulty.

Hyun-seok was curious about the identity of this space.

At the same time, he felt very uneasy.

“This won’t do. Let’s go back.”

“What? Why suddenly?”

“A cave this big wouldn’t just form naturally. And this sticky stuff too…”

Hyun-seok ran his hand along the cave wall.

Jjeoeeok…!

Something unidentifiable stuck with a stretching sound.

It was an extremely unpleasant sensation.

“I think I saw something similar on the way here… Anyway, with this stuff everywhere, there must be something…”

Just as Hyun-seok was speaking.

“Kiek, kiek…!”

An ominous sound came from behind.

Hyun-seok turned around and was startled.

“Oh shit!”

“Kieeeeee!”

An adult Talas that had appeared suddenly charged forward with a horrific cry.

“Hero! Run!”

“I know!”

Fighting wasn’t an option.

Because he had already realized it when he swung his sword at the Talas moments ago.

This was not an opponent he could win against in a direct fight.

Hyun-seok ran away with all his might.

‘What kind of hero’s life is this!’

Since he was the best fighter, he naturally thought he’d become the best hero.

But in reality, he was just a slave in the Demon King’s Army.

Then suddenly he became a slave leader, and at some point enlisted in the Demon King’s Army to become a dog caretaker.

Recently, he hunted monsters with the Demon King’s Army cooks.

Now he’s in a situation where he’s running away from monsters.

All of this happened in less than 2 months.

‘If I knew this was what being a hero meant, I would never have done it!’

Dreams and hopes.

He dreamed of marrying a blonde noble lady and having a retirement in a mansion.

But reality is endlessly in the gutter.

“Huh…!?”

Hyun-seok, who was running away, suddenly stopped.

“Haa… Shit…”

It’s a dead end.

He kept running and arrived at some room, but it was a dead end.

“What’s this now?”

The floor was littered with round, unidentifiable objects scattered about.

They seemed to be Talas’s eggs.

“Of all places to run to, it had to be the Talas’s place, and of all places to run from there, it had to be a dead-end hatching room…”

Could his luck possibly be any worse.

“This is seriously terrible luck.”

Unlike the depressed Hyun-seok, the Talas looked extremely happy.

“Kieeeeee!”

It seemed to know that Hyun-seok had nowhere else to run.

Hyun-seok gritted his teeth.

“I’m really sick of this crap!”

“Kieeeeee!”

“Come at me, you spider bastard!”

Did it understand Hyun-seok’s words?

The Talas charged forward quickly.

‘What should I do!? Think fast!’

Hyun-seok racked his brain frantically.

Though he shouted bravely, he didn’t want to die.

He hadn’t even met the beautiful blonde lady yet.

Hadn’t even seen his rabbit-like children.

He absolutely didn’t want to end this life as a bachelor too.

Meanwhile, the Talas, who had approached very close, brought down its leg with tremendous speed.

“Ugh!?”

Crack! Crunch!

Every time the sharp leg struck the floor, a brutal sound rang out.

Hyun-seok rolled on the floor, desperately dodging.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

The legs coming down in succession.

Cold sweat poured down his whole body at that terrifying force.

‘At this rate, I’ll really die! I have to do something!’

Just before becoming a spider leg skewer.

Hyun-seok noticed something strange.

‘The movements are unnatural?’

Something was off about the Talas.

The creature that had been frantically striking with its legs suddenly started swinging them unnaturally.

Hyun-seok narrowed his eyes while dodging backward.

‘What is it? Why is it suddenly acting like this?’

Though it was swinging its legs, the Talas seemed to be hesitating, as if confused.

That’s when something caught Hyun-seok’s eye.

‘Could it be…?’

His gaze fixed on the eggs on the floor.

When he quickly picked up an egg, the Talas froze as if turned to ice.

“You. You’re concerned about this, aren’t you?”

An evil smile spread across Hyun-seok’s face.
