Chapter 464: 464: A Huge Hedgehog?
Chapter 464: Chapter 464: A Huge Hedgehog?
“Anything moving behind us?”
“No, still nothing. Big Brother, the frequency at which you’re moving now shouldn’t be an issue. If you just slowly turn your body around, that should do it.”
Lin Yi just slowly nodded. He had already figured out the pattern—these small movements were unlikely to catch that guy’s attention.
He turned bit by bit, a movement that would normally take less than a second to complete, but after turning around, it took him a full half minute.
Finally, he got a clear view of the prey behind him, and at that moment, the prey was still lingering not far from him.
“Is that a patch of grass over there, if I remember correctly?”
“Yes, indeed, it’s a patch of grass.”
“Then if I’m not mistaken, he should be in the grass right now, right?”
“Yes, I know he’s in the grass, but I don’t know when he might suddenly attack. If we can’t defend against that, we’ll really be in trouble.”
“How did he find this place? Never mind, let’s not talk about that now. You go back to the tent quickly and take out all your tools because I think we have to take him down.”
“Okay, I understand.”
As he spoke, he glanced this way because he saw that the tent entrance was only about 10 meters away.
To cover 10 meters in the past was nothing at all, even a large stride would have sufficed, but now, under these circumstances, Hei Lang truly felt like he was getting much older.
Lin Yi, on the other hand, remained standing upright the entire time because he found that as long as their movements were not too abrupt, that thing would keep watching them motionlessly.
Therefore, it seemed like the situation had reached a deadlock, but luckily Lin Yi was mentally prepared in advance. If it was going to be this persistent, then he had to continue to endure.
Out of necessity, Lin Yi sat down on the ground. Standing was draining.
Suddenly, he saw that guy move forward two steps, but after slowing to a stop, Lin Yi noticed that he too had completely stopped moving.
Having seen this, he breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that sitting down had indeed attracted that guy’s attention.
After waiting for an unknown length of time, Lin Yi now felt something gradually approaching him. Turning around for a look, he discovered that it was Hei Lang at his side.
Hei Lang was lying flat on the ground, and of course, he kept the bag he carried tightly clutched in his hand.
“Hei Lang, why are you lying here?”
“Big Brother, I feel it now—we can’t afford to stand up and walk. If we do, we’ll definitely disturb him, but lying still on the ground doesn’t seem to alarm her.”@@novelbin@@
“So you mean to say, he might not see us if we’re lying flat on the ground, or that he subconsciously doesn’t perceive us as a threat because we’re not aggressive, is that what you’re suggesting?”
“Exactly, that should be the case.”
“Well, looking at it this way, it seems we really need to go over there, but first, we should deal with his physical problem.”
“Don’t worry, I know what to do.”
After speaking, Hei Lang nodded, then took a set of tools out of his carry-on bag.
He placed these tools on the ground in front of him.
Now, lying flat on the ground, his actions seemed even more cautious and steady.
He aimed at the object and then pressed the trigger. Quickly, he saw something white fly out from in front of his eyes.
Then there was a muffled sound.
But he heard no loud cry follow.
Afterward, the two bright spots disappeared.
Hei Lang nodded slightly, guessing that his strike likely had a decisive effect.
“How is it? What’s the situation now?”
“I’m not sure, but to be safe, Big Brother, wait here; I’ll go over and check.”
“What? Check it out? At this time, going over there, wouldn’t that be like walking into a tiger’s den? What if he’s not really dead, or is just feigning death?”
“It should be fine. I used an anesthetic solution earlier. Even if it doesn’t kill him, the anesthetic taking effect in his body should have some impact. Don’t worry, it should be fine.”
With those words, Hei Lang crawled up from the ground and gently patted off the dust on himself.
He moved his body slightly and noticed that the bright spots still hadn’t reappeared.
“Good, if that’s the case, then it proves our situation is still within a safe range for now.”
He walked over, and then, he quietly approached the patch of grass.
As he came closer to the grass, he saw a black mass, which at the time was lying on the ground.
But Hei Lang felt that this black mass was still moving up and down—it seemingly hadn’t completely died.
Gathering his courage, he turned on his flashlight.
To his surprise, hidden in the grass was a giant hedgehog.
It seemed to have some spines on its body, but comparing it to the hedgehogs they’d seen before, it didn’t quite match up.
However, now with his flashlight, he could see it was definitely not dead.
Clearly, its thick spines had shielded it from the blow, but the tranquilizer had penetrated its system.
That’s why it was in such a state now.
Using the tool in his hand, Lin Yi gently prodded it and found no significant reaction.
Moreover, it was huge; if it truly was a hedgehog, then it might well be dubbed the king of hedgehogs.
“Hei Lang, what’s happening over there?”
As Lin Yi waited here, after what felt like ages, it seemed Hei Lang still wasn’t moving at all, so he began to get impatient.
He also worried that Hei Lang might experience some mishap, and with two people already injured, if another was hurt, even Lin Yi himself would find it hard to bear.
What do you think?
