(High Wizard Dore POV)

I hit the damned Knight Leader, but this fool suddenly drew his blade. As soon as the hilt of his sword was drawn, I felt the energy of darkness surge in the room as our shadows suddenly became alive. Numerous beings that looked like pink skinned elves with dark eyes came out of the shadows pointing their weapons at us.

"You fool! Do you know that the Shades protect this place and its lord!? Sheathe your blade at once or you will not leave here alive!"

I could only berate the idiotic knight leader and slapped him with my cane. Fortunately, he was not a total idiot as he realized that death awaited him if he pulled his sword more. The Shades that are said to be beings of the shadow that even assassins fear is now in my sight. The fact that they live in Avalon makes this place incredibly secure as they seem to be a security force.

When the knight leader let go of his sword, all the Shades have retreated back to the shadows. When all of their bloodlust suddenly vanished, I can finally breathe as I am no longer suffocated. The only problem is the fact that the Lord of Avalon is now in full rage demon mode as I can feel his suffocating pressure.

The Lord of Avalon might look like he is smiling but the mere presence that he exuded can make anyone choke. The fact that Piggy Bank that is behind him is not getting affected meant that we are the likely targets of this oppressive force. The two knights immediately fainted while the knight leader that came with me is now petrified. I am the only one barely holding on and I need to say something or else we might get sent back in body bags.

"Please quell your anger, Lord of Avalon. I am incredibly sorry for what has transpired. This should not be what the merchant guild be showing to you. As an honorary elder of the merchant guild, please accept my deepest apologies for this transgression."

As soon as told that sentence, the Lord of Avalon looked at me directly and we met eye to eye. The flames in that stare were like he is peeking directly at my soul. They did say that the eyes were the window to the soul, but this is the first time I actually believed that nonsense. I wanted to avert his gaze, but it was full of gravitas and splendor that I am unable to.

"I think you should not pressure them as much, Equinox. The two already fainted to the point that they might choke in their sleep. Also, High Wizard Dore already apologized sincerely." Piggy Bank stated.

"Well, if you say so then I shall forgive your very disrespectful tone earlier but remember that I will not forget. So, tell me High Wizard Dore, what are your plans for my chunky friend here?" The Lord of Avalon Equinox stated as he retracted his aura.

"Unfortunately, Lord of Avalon… I still need to escort Branch Leader Piggy Bank to the main guild. He must go into trial and be proven innocent in order to clear him of his accusations. I tried my best to help him avoid suspicion, but a lot of the high officials want him to go there. I can only promise that I will even use my life to protect him."

I noticed that the brows of the Lord of Avalon rose when I declared such a bold statement. He then looked at Piggy Bank to check his opinion of the matter. Piggy Bank could be seen thinking deeply which made me understand that the Lord of Avalon is not a brute as they say he is.

He might be a demon, but he has both prestige and respect for those who respect him back. He also seems to be the person to give someone a base level of respect in their first encounter. The fact that these three knights were not dead yet means he also knows his limitations. Still, I know that he might have killed these three if he was really offended by what they said. "Are you sure about this decision?" The Lord of Avalon Equinox asked Piggy Bank one last time.

"Yes. I am needed in the main guild, but I am also afraid since they just accused me falsely." Piggy Bank stated.@@novelbin@@

"Do you want a demon to escort you there?" The Lord of Avalon asked Piggy Bank to which I am surprised.

The fact that the Lord of Avalon would even attach a demon bodyguard for Piggy Bank means that they are not just business partners. They are true friends that will help one another in a time of need. This is very refreshing to see when it comes to merchants as some of their relationships are just superficial, but it seems that Piggy Bank is just like the Merchant Leader.

"I do not think that they will be pleased with such a bodyguard, and they might even become more suspicious." I told the Lord of Avalon, and he did not seem too pleased with my comment.

"I am not asking for your opinion nor the opinion the merchant guild as I do not care about your comfort. I care more about the comfort of my friend knowing that he will not get suddenly thrown in jail if he arrives there." The Lord of Avalon stated which made me almost faint as he released a powerful aura that made my knees weak.

The knight leader beside me that was petrified finally fainted when he got hit by the aura earlier as well. I am suddenly the only one that can answer the wishes of the Lord of Avalon. No wonder this place is very secure as the lord of this territory itself has a presence that can make anyone faint.

"If Piggy Bank wishes to have a bodyguard, then maybe one will not hurt." I stated as I almost swallowed my own words.
