At one of the rooms in the main merchant guild, one of the female employees snuck to a section where only she could be seen. This room is a records room where paper trails of old accounts are being handled. This is just an old archive that barely anyone uses as most of the records have already been automated which is why this is a place that is safe from prying eyes.

The woman took out a doll that has the hair of the barrier master tied on it. She also took out a cursed knife from her pocket and started to chant. She sliced her finger with this cursed knife and smeared the blood onto the small doll.

As soon as she felt the magic activate and connect the doll to the captured barrier master, she started to stab the doll in an emotionless way. With the first stab, she felt the life force of the barrier master dwindle as she aimed for the heart. She stabbed again and it once again reduced the life force that she could sense from the barrier master.

She continued with this, but she suddenly felt some sort of protection from the barrier master's side. The curse master thought that the barrier master might have erected a way to protect himself from harm using his barriers despite being captured. She proceeded to increase the ferocity of the curse as she stabbed the doll.

She felt that the life force that barely got reduced started to get lesser by a minute value. Still, she believed that continuing the curse attack will be enough to truly kill the barrier master. She could feel the life force of the barrier master waning in different values which she thought meant that the target could not protect himself properly.

The curse master did not expect that a being made of shadows and an undead lord are already tracking the scent of the magic that she used. She might be using a form of curse magic, but it might have been derived from a forbidden death magic spell. This made it easy for Sirius and Charon to track as they are very familiar with death energy as their own master uses it.

Sirius and Charon managed to track the curse master in the old room that is somewhat faraway from the busy merchant guild. They immediately informed their master that they have found the curse user that is currently attacking the barrier master. In a sudden swoop, the shadows suddenly wrapped the body of the curse master. As if the shadows were not enough, chains also targeted her hands where she held the cursed knife. The cursed knife fell as a result of the curse master feeling physical pain from the sharp chain that pierced her hand. The curse master could not believe that she was suddenly incapacitated by someone or something as she did not even feel it.

Sirius rose from her shadows to check the entire room if there were any spells left. Charon rose from the floor and took the cursed knife before delivering it inside his hood. The sound of metal being crunched could be heard as Charon's chains suddenly glowed in a dark purple light.

[Your soulbound, Charon, has gained the ability to apply cursed effects to all enemy targets hit by his chains. These cursed effects can only be applied once with a 1% chance per chains embedded on their body.]

"I have gotten the cursed doll as well. We can now return to the master." Charon stated.

"I will have to go the long way as I am bringing her alive to the master." Sirius stated.

The curse master could not believe powerful monsters were suddenly inside of the merchant guild. There are lots of sensors in this place which will trigger if a monster sneaks inside. She thought that she was safe as the merchant guild is not a place one could easily sneak inside of. The fact that these monsters could not be detected meant that they are incredibly powerful and masters of stealth.

The curse master tried to move or even kill herself with the poison on her mouth, but a dark ball of shadows prevented her from biting down on it. Sirius made sure to do this as this curse master was not the only one, they have fought under the guise of a secret organization. Since Adrian is well-versed on the ways of the eastern continent when it comes to information warfare, he already told Sirius and Charon to make sure that the target will not bite down.

The curse master suddenly realized that she was about to be taken captive, and she could not do anything about it. She might not be able to kill herself now, but she might have a way later when she gets released. She immediately knew that the ones that captured the barrier master must have been the one to send these powerful beasts to capture her.

"I will go first." Charon stated as he vanished below the floor.

The curse master's vision is then turned to pure darkness as she got dragged to the shadow realm. Sirius is using a lot of energy trying to drag another living being to the shadow realm which is why he is not being quick about it. The faster he travels then the faster that his energy will be diminished.

The barrier master told them everything he knows, and the Vice Leader of the Merchant Guild even used the expensive truth serum on the former. The barrier master is told that he should not resist the truth serum's effects in order for them to be certain that he is speaking the truth. Adrian could bypass the truth serum though as he could use his evil eye to check the color of the soul.

Adrian could check if another is lying if the soul color flickers but this also has its weak points. The soul color will only flicker if the person telling the lie believed that it is a lie. This method will not work for those that are brainwashed into thinking that the lie they say is the truth. Fortunately, Adrian could see that the soul color of the barrier master flickered when he told a lie.

"You just lied to us even with the effects of the truth serum." Adrian stated.

"I do not know what you are talking about, but I only told the truth! It was only us that came to the central continent with Lady Goldenclaw." The barrier master stated as his soul color flickered again.

"You lied again. Tell us who were the others that came with you. If you do not know who they were then you could also tell us where they went." Adrian stated.

"I already told you that I did not lie." The barrier master stated as his soul color flickered once more.

Adrian could see that the barrier master was still thinking that he had hope. He must be thinking that he could rejoin his secret organization if he manages to get out of this place alive. Since all of them signed a contract that they should not kill him, the barrier master seems to have gotten a bit bold. Adrian smiled at the barrier master and stopped the time of the gold coin that was about to drop to his feet.

Piggy Bank and the Vice Leader of the Merchant Guild was about to ask why Adrian would do such a thing, but they figured out why. The blessed area that protected the barrier master from the effects of the curses suddenly vanished. The lingering curse energy assaulted the barrier master which squeezed his heart in a painful manner. The barrier master screamed in pain and was about to lose his mind when Adrian resumed the time of the gold coin.

The gold coin landed beside the feet of the barrier master and the blessed area rose once more. The cursed energy got pushed away from the barrier master, but Adrian could see it clearly. The cursed energy is still swirling around the barrier master as the blessed area only pushed it outward and not defend him from it.

"Each time you lie, you will feel your heart being squeezed. We may not be able to kill you but remember that another from your secret organization is trying to. You can be killed by her using cursed techniques and we will not need to do it ourselves. Now, tell me where the others went." Adrian stated with a smile, but the barrier master looked at him with sheer terror.

The barrier master now knew what Adrian meant, and he started to plead for his life. The barrier master promised to tell them everything as long as they make sure he is alive. The barrier master blurted everything he knew as he looked at the face of someone more terrifying that his superiors.
